SPECIALIZED PROGRAMMINGPride RecruitingPride Recruiting is the premier on-campus interview program that brings first-round interviews to you! Through Pride Recruiting, students can interview at The Career Center; it is recommended for students in ALL MAJORS. The program is also open to all accounting juniors and graduate-level accounting majors. To participate in this program, students must attend one of the mandatory Pride Recruiting Orientations, Interview to Impress and a Mock Interview. If you are interested in participating in Internship Recruiting, this is also the orientation for you. All sessions are held at The Career Center. If you have a laptop, please bring it with you for this orientation.

MANY OF OUR CAREER SEMINARS and WORKSHOPS HAVE GONE ONLINE! The Career Center now offers Web shops on Blackboard.

The Career Center is proud to announce the newly renovated interactive workshop room, which is the old Career Center library. This room is equipped with SMART Board technology and computer workstations. Future plans include distance interviewing! There are also ports for students to bring their laptops in order to get more involved at workshops.

The Career Center encourages you to register for all workshops through your Pride-Career Management System account or by calling (516) 463-6060. Students do not need to register for Career Fairs. All programs are held at The Career Center, unless otherwise noted.

Zarb School of Business Alumni Association Resume Critique and ReceptionThe Zarb School of Business Alumni Association, in conjunction with The Career Center, is conducting a Resume Critique and Reception for students to have their resumes reviewed by industry professionals. Students are encouraged to come out to meet with Hofstra alumni who will review and explain how to develop a highly effective and professional resume. An introductory reception will be held prior to the event, providing students with an opportunity to network with alumni. Peace Corps Information SessionSince 1961, the Peace Corps has shared with the world America’s most precious resource – its people. Peace Corps volunteers serve in 77 countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, and the Middle East. Collaborating with local community members, volunteers work in areas such as education, youth outreach and community development, the environment, and information technology. Coming from all walks of life and representing the rich diversity of the American people, volunteers range in age from college students to retirees. Every Peace Corps volunteer experience is different. From teaching English to elementary school children in Thailand to launching a computer learning center in Moldova, volunteers bring their skills and life experiences to where they are needed most. Peace Corps volunteers receive round-trip transportation overseas; a monthly living allowance; full medical/dental coverage; student loan deferment; 24 vacation days per year; and a $7,000+ readjustment allowance after completion of service.

Employer Mock Interview EventDo you need help polishing your interview skills? Do you want to receive tips from employers about how to ace an interview? Then reserve a “mock” interview time today! Please call (516) 463-6060 or stop by The Career Center. All students participating in Pride Recruiting are required to attend a 45-minute practice interview. Hofstra University alumni as well as several employers are volunteering to spend the day at The Career Center to participate in this event. Students are required to dress professionally, bring a resume and have questions prepared to ask the employer you “interview” with.

This event will help students:

� Develop interviewing strategies.� Learn more effective ways to answer different types of questions.� Become more comfortable and confident during interviews.� Clearly communicate their skill set. � Answer second-round interview questions.

They must find a way to meet specific qualifications of a desired job, as well as demonstrate transferrable skills such as communication, trouble-shooting, decision-making, leadership, and problem solving. Zarb School of Business Alumni Association Presents: “Building a Career Preparation Road Map”The Zarb School of Business Alumni Association, in conjunction with The Career Center, is hosting a round-table discussion designed to help first-year students and sophomores build a “career preparation road map” and make clear the resources available within the Zarb community. Join Zarb School of Business alumni, faculty and representatives from The Career Center as they discuss key career preparation milestones, such as identifying fields of interest, determining what makes a good candidate in those fields, identifying when and how to apply and interview for jobs in those fields, and how alumni, faculty and The Career Center can help every step of the way.
