Easy Reading Career Planning SeriesThis guide is part of the Easy Reading Career Planning Series. The series was developed to help adults with low literacy skills or English as a Second Language (ESL) expand their knowledge of occupations and choose an occupational goal. Although every effort has been made to write at a Grade 2 to 3 reading level, the level may be higher at times because of the need to include difficult words essential to a particular occupation.

Easy Reading Career Planning Series publications are available on the Alberta Learning Information Service (ALIS) website at alis.alberta.ca/ERadvisors.

Binder insertsFor your convenience, a downloadable binder cover and spine insert is available at alis.alberta.ca/ERadvisors to help you organize the Easy Reading Career Planning Series.

Job or occupation?

Many people make no

distinction between

occupations (groups

of similar jobs) and

jobs. They use the two

terms interchangeably.

For this reason, and

for ease of reading,

the Easy Reading job

profiles, dictionary and

Work and You books

use the term “job” in

place of “occupation.”
