Career Advancement – Personal Branding

Program Description: This educational session is Part 1 of a 4 Part series for ACHE-WI’s Young Professional Network Series (Milwaukee Region). Following the panel discussion, attendees will break into small groups according to their respective career level. Each small group will be tailored to the group’s career level and led by one of the panelists.

About the Presenters:

John Robertstad, FACHE, President/CEO, Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital: Robertstad has been president/CEO of Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital since July 2003. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Prior to being employed at OMH, he was the north region president for ProMedica Health System. Robertstad also served as president/CEO of Lenawee Health Alliance and Lenawee Health System in Adrian, Michigan. Prior to his move to Michigan, he was the vice president-programs at Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. During his tenure at Madison General Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, he was employment manager, personnel services manager, personnel director, and assistant vice president and vice president, administrative support services. Robertstad is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the Wisconsin United Way Board of Directors, and president of the Stillwaters Board.

Brett Norell, FACHE, Business Manager Surgical Services, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin: As business manager surgical services, Norell is responsible for the business management of the operating room, special procedure rooms, recovery room, sterile processing, and day surgery. Norell received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and holds Master of Public Health and Master of Health Administration degrees from The University of Iowa in Iowa City. He received the ACHE’s Service Award (2009), ACHE Regent’s Award as Young Healthcare Executive of the Year in Wisconsin (2006), The University of Iowa’s Health Management and Policy Alumni Association Second Year Student Award (2001) and the Milford E. Barnes Award for Health Management and Policy from The University of Iowa (2000). He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Board of Directors for the ACHE Wisconsin Chapter where he holds the position of president-elect and serves on several committees. In addition, he is a member of ACHE National’s Membership Committee and WHA’s Council on Workforce Development.

Marie Judd, HR Manager, Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital: As the manager of human resources, Judd has been inhealthcareleadership,specificallyEmployeeRelations,forover13years.Hereducationalbackgroundincludesa Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Minnesota and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University. Judd is also currently enrolled Marquette’s Graduate Dispute Resolution Program and shehasbeendesignatedbythenationalHumanResourcesCertificationInstitute(HRCI)asaSeniorProfessionalofHuman Resources (SPHR) since 2003. As a member of SHRM, ASSHRA, and ACHE, Rudd specializes in performance management,leadershipdevelopment,andconflictresolutionthroughproblemsolvingtoensureasafe,effective,and collaborative work environment for health care employees and their patients. Marie also serves on the Board of Directors for Portal, Inc and volunteers extensively throughout Milwaukee with her family.
