School Council Elections. We thank all interested parents for their nominations for electing to be on school council. For the first time in recent years we have had more nominations for school council than positions available so this means we need to vote. There are two parent positions available and three parents have expressed an interest in being on school council. The three nominated people in alphabetical order are: Catherine Booth Peter Hahnemann Kate Morton In next week’s newsletter there will be a short overview of who our candidates are and why they would like to be our school representatives on school council. This will give you information so that you can make your informed decision. This will be an attachment for next week’s newsletter Voting will take place from Monday the 6

th of March

through to Tuesday the 14th of March. Voting forms will be sent out next week and we encourage all parents and carers of our school community to vote. Our school is so very lucky to have interested parents who would like to go on School Council. So thank you to Catherine, Peter and Kate for nominating. We look forward to forming our School Council for 2017. Canberra Camp. The Grade 5/6 Camp to Canberra will take place from the 14

th of March through to 17

th of March. The cost of

the camp for families is $360. This camp is being subsidised by the Federal PACER rebate which provides approximately $20 per student and our own JSC who subsidise each student $50. We are extremely lucky that the camp is made more affordable for families because of these subsidies. JSC fundraise money throughout the year to keep the cost down for the senior camp so all children can go. We thank them in advance for their dedication and commitment to assisting their fellow schoolmates. This camp will allow our children to understand the importance of our Government and how decisions and laws are made in our country. This camp is a great opportunity to learn first-hand how our country is governed and experience our capital city in Australia. Playgroup on Fridays. Our Early Learning Playgroup is up and running for the year and it is great to see a number of new families who have joined our group. Belinda Street will coordinate this group and provide activities for the children to participate in. If you know of any young families within our community please do not hesitate to let them know about our Early Learning Playgroup. School Photos: Our School Photos were taken over the past few days. Rosie Broughton a local photographer took the photos and has stated that the photos will be delivered towards the end of term. If anyone missed out on ordering a photo this can still be done. See Jo in the office. A whole school photo was also taken and is available for ordering if there are any interested families.

Transporting Students To Our School And Safe Parking. As we have many children arriving by car we ask parents and carers to be vigilant as they drive to and from school being mindful of the increasing traffic in our local area. We understand that our school area can be congested at times and we ask parents to be patient and take care when travelling to and from school. Please remember we have a 40 kilometre speed restriction as we approach the school and this has one purpose, to keep our school community safe. Thank you to all for taking the time and care of our students in their safe transportation to school. Another of our main issues for our school is our parking with the comings and goings of many cars. We thank parents for their continual support of parking in the designated areas around our school site. Parents need to make the most of the drop off and pick up zone on School Road. This is a zone where parents can drive in and pick up or drop off their children. The parents are to remain in the car at all times. We thank parents who do this. Parking also occurs on Eagle Point Road with parents making the most of the angle parking. This parking cannot cater for all of our parents and we ask parents to make the most of the Community Hall parking which is available to our school community members.
