PAGE 3 THE CARPENTER’S TOOLBOX C.A.R.E. Committee By Jennifer Klein For the past few months I have been writing about the C.A.R.E. Committee here at Friends of the Carpenter and the activities we have enjoyed. To remind you of what the C.A.R.E. Committee is and does, C.A.R.E. stands for Community Awareness Reaching Empowerment. It ties in with the Friends of the Carpenter Mission: we are a faith based day shelter that provides safety and a sense of purpose to members of our community. We provide outings and activities for our participants that they may not be able to enjoy otherwise. Each year we apply for a grant from the Seattle Archdiocese and The Catholic Campaign for Human Development. This grant helps provide the Love Gifts that we provide at the Wednesday events. The remaining money goes towards outings/activities for our participants. We have visited the Oregon Zoo, enjoyed a night at the movies, and recently took an overnight road trip to Seaside to marvel at the artistic “sand talent” displayed in the Sandcastle Competition. We are currently in the process of planning our “field trips” for the upcoming year. With the number of participants rising every week, the need for more funds increases as well. In the coming mont``hs look for announcements regarding our upcoming activities and fundraisers. On September 5th, we will be having a car wash at Bob’s Paint Land, on the corner of 99th and Highway 99. C.A.R.E. Committee’s current members are; Lynnette T., Founding Chairperson; Jennifer K., Secre- tary; Tom I. F.O.C. Director; Bernie G. Volunteer & Community Outreach Manager; Andre’ P., Community Service Manager; Sandy M., Board Secretary; Kate M., Charlie P., Barbara P., Barbarita G., Esteban C., Ka- ley H., Ryan C., Danny H., David B., and John B. Friends of the Carpenter and C.A.R.E. committee continue to be a blessing and a God Sighting for myself and many others. Thank you to everyone who supports both. Friends of the Carpenter is once again a partner of Give More 24! - a giving challenge organized by the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington. This 24-hour day of giving begins at 12 a.m. on Thursday, September 24th. Mark your calendars now! C.A.R.E. Committee By Jennifer Klein

For the past few months I have been writing about the C.A.R.E. Committee here at Friends of the Carpenter and the activities we have enjoyed. To remind you of what the C.A.R.E. Committee is and does,

C.A.R.E. stands for Community Awareness Reaching Empowerment. It ties in with the Friends of the

Carpenter Mission: we are a faith based day shelter that provides safety and a sense of purpose to members of our community. We provide outings and activities for our participants that they may not be

able to enjoy otherwise.

Each year we apply for a grant from the Seattle Archdiocese and The Catholic Campaign for Human Development. This grant helps provide the Love Gifts that we provide at the Wednesday events.

The remaining money goes towards outings/activities for our participants. We have visited the Oregon Zoo, enjoyed a night at the movies, and recently took an overnight road trip to Seaside to marvel at the artistic

“sand talent” displayed in the Sandcastle Competition. We are currently in the process of planning our “field

trips” for the upcoming year. With the number of participants rising every week, the need for more funds increases as well. In the coming mont``hs look for announcements regarding our upcoming activities and

fundraisers. On September 5th, we will be having a car wash at Bob’s Paint Land, on the corner of 99th and Highway 99.

tary; Tom I. F.O.C. Director; Bernie G. Volunteer & Community Outreach Manager; Andre’ P., Community Service Manager; Sandy M., Board Secretary; Kate M., Charlie P., Barbara P., Barbarita G., Esteban C., Ka-

ley H., Ryan C., Danny H., David B., and John B. Friends of the Carpenter and C.A.R.E. committee continue

to be a blessing and a God Sighting for myself and many others. Thank you to everyone who supports both.
