In order to help solve the problem we need to understand what the issue isand how it impacts us.
The effect of climate change is apparent all around us and it is one of the mostsignicant issues facing the global community in the 21st century.
97% of scientists agree on the fact that climate change is man-made. Globalwarming is primarily caused by the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and gas, when we burn these fuels Carbon Dioxide (CO 2) is released which then warmsthe atmosphere, recently reaching dangerous levels.
This is obvious when looking at the rst 10 years of this century, which werethe hottest in 160 years.

The impact of climate change is widespread and can be seen acrossthe globe.
The effects are seen differently depending on where in the world we look.Climate change impacts water availability and agricultural productivity, as wellas causing extreme temperatures and drought and increasing the risk of forestres and rises in sea level.
In the past decade we have seen a number of dramatic weather extremes, from hurricane Katrina in the US, to Russian heat waves, Amazonian droughtsand oods in all parts of the world including the UK.
Whether you believe in mans contribution to climate change or not, one thingis certain; we all pollute the planet. An easy way to measure pollution is theamount of CO 2 in the atmosphere, measured as Parts Per Million (PPM). CO 2 inthe atmosphere has recently passed the 400 PPM barrier, which is signicantlyhigher than the widely accepted safe limit of 350ppm. Failure to address thisissue will have lasting effects on the planet in terms of our natural habitat andthe survival of wildlife.

Electricity usage and transport are the two largest contributors to the pollutioncreated by individuals.
In reality, everything we do has an impact on the environment and every dayactivities such as driving cars, ying, purchasing food or clothing, watching TVor even boiling the kettle all contribute to creating our individualCarbon Footprint.
As globalization makes the world smaller, it becomes increasingly easy tosee how ecosystems everywhere are closely linked with each other.
For example - toys made in China can affect the quality of life in Europe, pesticides used in Argentina can affect the health of people in the U.S., andgreenhouse gas emissions from Australia can affect a diminishing rainforestin Brazil.
Basically pollution, no matter where it is created, has a direct impact on theenvironment in other parts of the world!
The good news is that we are all able to do something to help reduce ourimpact on the planet.
Embracing a greener lifestyle isnt just about helping to preserve rain forests,it can also mean improving your health and saving money.

A persons carbon footprint is measured in the amount of carbondioxide (CO 2) we release into the atmosphere each year. This allowsfor easy understanding of our impact on the environment.

Did you know that the way you run your household could have a large impacton your carbon footprint? You can make many carbon and energy savingchanges in your day-to-day living and, by doing so, you can also save moneyon household bills.
The rst step is to calculate your carbon emissions and then look at where youare able to make changes.

WHAT TO DOWITH WHAT ISLEFT?
OffsetThe last step to a healthier planet is to offset your Carbon Footprint.
Carbon offsetting compensates for your pollution emissions by enablingyou to fund projects that prevent pollution being released in to The Earthsatmosphere.
Carbon offsets are quantied and sold in metric tons of carbon dioxideequivalent (CO 2e). One retired metric ton of carbon offsets represents oneless ton of emissions in the atmosphere.
Offsetting is seen as a stepping-stone on the way to a cleaner, moresustainable future.
CarbonClix is designed to help make being green as easy as possible -you can offset your annual carbon footprint for as little as 5 per month!
Carbon Clix carefully selects projects, which are strictly and independentlyregulated so you know exactly whereyour money is going.
