Carbon Testing And Circuit AuditService Guide
The importance of Activated Carbon in any GOLD extraction process cannot be over emphasised. Activated Carbon plays a critical role towards the profitability (Operating Costs) of a gold project. Therefore the selection of an efficient virgin carbon such as PICAGOLD® or GOLDSORB® is of utmost importance.
• Resistance to abrasion (hardness and even shape)• Minimize gold losses on escaping A/C fines• Gold adsorption kinetics and capacity• Minimize soluble gold losses • Granulometry (low platelet content)• Avoid inter-tank screens to be plugged The service described below is however not offered exclusively to PICAGOLD® and GoldSorb® users!
Why Carbon Testing?
A small variation in the quality of carbon can have a dramatic effect on the gold recovery and hence the profitability of the plant. Jacobi Carbons, a company with a vast experience of decades in activated carbon, under-stands this need and is committed to providing an ongoing Testing and Audit-ing service to the gold mines to help them maintain good quality of carbon in the circuit and reduce the usage of carbon.

What Does The Testwork Consist In?
Different Physical and Chemical tests can be done on the activated carbon samples from CIL/CIP/CIC circuits for the purposes of Circuit Performance Assessment and Interpretation. Mainly, three samples - loaded, barren (eluted) and regenerated carbon sample are required from the same elution cycle.

What Does The Consulting Work Consist Of?
We run those tests and provides a detailed summary with recommendations, based on the analysis of the test results by our carbon experts. We recommend a CTCA to be done twice a year, or to be done in case of any unexplained drop in gold recovery yield of poor circuit behavior.
We Offer
• Plant visit and circuit survey • Sample testing and analysis• Recommendations by our experts• Follow up discussions
You Get
• A benchmark and a trend on the activated carbon status • An alert on any change in the process impacting performance• Suggestions for actions to improve the gold recovery yield
How To Order A CTCA ?
Just 3 samples of 1 litre each are required to be sent to one of our laboratories! The cost of the service shall be provided to you by your Jacobi Carbons representative.
