• In general, the application of coatings on all types of materials has had two basic objectives:

to protect or add new qualities to the coated base material.

• These characteristics can only be guaranteed with the appropriate thicknesses.

• Since the beginning of the 20th century, various technologies have been implemented to measure the thickness of these layers.
