Green Rhino® is the brand name we’ve given to our own range of innovative solutions that solvepollution control challenges. Many Green Rhino® products incorporate a unique polymertechnology, offering a high-tech yet cost-effective solution to pollution prevention. The productscontain special polymers which transform hydrocarbons such as oil, diesel and petrol into arubber-like solid within minutes, preventing the release of contaminated water or hazardous fluidinto the environment.

What makes Green Rhino® different?Alternative products work simply by absorbing hydrocarbons, much like a sponge, but thepolymer technology in Green Rhino® products is far more advanced. Potentially hazardous andpolluting hydrocarbons are retained and ‘locked in’ to the polymer, completely eliminating therisk of pollution entering the environment. The solid mass can be safely handled and disposed ofin standard hazardous waste bins, significantly reducing overallhazardous waste costs.

Pollution controlEnviroPad

The new Green Rhino EnviroPad is a revolutionary product. It turnshazardous liquids into rubber. It can be used in place of traditional driptrays or absorbent drip trays such as plant nappies or competitor site mats.

Unlike these other products, the Green Rhino EnviroPad does not simply absorb and leach whensaturated. It bonds the oil, immobilising it permanently and preventing it from leakinghydrocarbons into the environment. It’s also smaller, lighter and easier to use.

The Green Rhino EnviroPad incorporates a smart membrane with unique polymer technologycontained within. This captures and retains spills and drips from workplace activities such aspumps, generators, chain saws, cut-off saws and other oil or petrol-filled construction machinery.Other products on the market simply absorb oil like a sponge but the EnviroPad retains and‘locks in’ hydrocarbons into the polymer, significantly reducing the risk of pollution entering theenvironment. Oil and other hydrocarbons are immobilised into a non-leaching, dry, rubber-likemass, ensuring that hazardous fluids are removed and safely contained.

The Technology Behind theEnviropad

The EnviroPad uses sophisticated polymertechnology to retain hydrocarbons. Itcomprises a membrane made up of two layersof a geo-textile with C.I.Agent® polymersembedded between the layers. This hybridcreates a filtration fabric that encapsulateshydrocarbons and forces them to unsaturatedareas of the fabric. This fabric allows water topass through it, yet it solidifies hydrocarbonsalmost instantly upon contact.

Pollution controlDewatering Pack

The Green Rhino Dewatering Pack offers a swift, cost-effective solution forall pumping activities. It’s the proven solution for oil contaminatedexcavations, road gullies, site works, inspection chambers, lift shafts,bilges, tanks and many more operations.

The dewatering pack can be used where high volumes of contaminated water are present, butwith relatively low volumes of oil contamination. It applies state-of-the-art filtration technology toremove suspended solids, oil deposits and light sheen from pumping and other water dischargeoperations, and can be used in place of costly vacuum lorries (tankering services), which taketime, create disruption, cause delays and have a big carbon footprint.

Simply place the polymer pillows on the surface of contaminated water and within a few minutes each pillow will remove contaminants and render them into an inert, rubber-like solid. The pillows can be safely removed by hand and the water can then be pumped through the Green Rhino® Oil and Sediment Filter, allowing it to be safely pumped into the environment.

Pollution controlSpill containment with filtration

Spill containment systems are a common sight. But if you look closely,you’ll see how ours are different. We improve these systems by adding ourlow flow hydrocarbon filters, which minimise maintenance costs andmitigate the risk of environmental incidents.

These bunds typically fill up with rain water and risk overflowing, unless they are properly caredfor. When maintained properly, contaminated water must be removed and disposed of, withadditional costs for tanker call out and disposal.

Our spill containment solutions with low flow filters make it very easy to mitigate the risk of anenvironmental incident with a minimal need for maintenance and, importantly, cost. Pollution controlDewatering Filtration Systems

Our filtration systems are designed for use when pumping anddewatering trenches. They’re easy to use on-site, cost-effective and offerexceptional return on investment. The filtration systems are suitable foruse with all standard mobile water pumps and easily connected withsimple reusable cable ties.

They are used on a daily basis by many of the UK’s utility contractors to remove contaminantsthat could otherwise pollute navigable water or drainage systems. Our filtration systems helporganisations avoid possible prosecutions, financial penalties and significantly eliminate cost anddown time.

Low Flow Hydrocarbon Filter Our Low Flow Hydrocarbon Filter removes contaminants from water thatcollects in tanks and bunds. It can be retrofitted to existing spill containmentproducts to prevent the buildup of rain water. Manifold Frame SystemOur Manifold Frame Systems are an innovative solution for increasing filtration volume. They can be designed intoyour site drainage plan as a best management process for mitigating sediment pollution during surface waterpumping.

This manifold frame system is designed to allow multiple Green Rhinofilters to be attached to high volume pumps or settlements tanks. It canfunction as a “step-down” unit to reduce and disperse water load whilstallowing for adequate filtration. Made in house, these manifolds can bebuilt to fit specific products or scenarios that require particular designs orfittings. Constructed out of chemical resistant high pressure fittings, theproduct can withstand high volumes of water and is rugged for site use.
