legiSlATive & regUlATOry rePreSeNTATiON: The USSA has spent the past six years building relationships with leadership at the U.S. Coast guard, CBp and State department—to address issues that impact U.S. entry, Visa questions and more. We have also worked closely with legislative leadership on such issues as: Longshore, pilotage and Sales Tax. Through the USSA—you have a voice!

NeTwOrkiNg: The USSA works to provide regular networking opportunities in every region of the United States and overseas. in 2013, the USSA will embark on some new venues in the Med and around the world.

SeCUriTy CerTiFiCATiON: The USSA through the Maritime Security Council provides a certificate of completion for Captains covering the industry’s leading security topics, best practices and information. The USSA is also working with other partner associations to add additional certificates of completion and plans to do so driven by Captain input as to what is needed in today’s market.

USSA “TeST The wiNd SUrveyS”: The USSA via its vast network plans to conduct four annual membership wide surveys focusing on the most relevant Captain related issues. The questions in these surveys will be driven by our new member Captains to give real time data on issues directly impacting the industry from their viewpoint.
