Abstract. Privacy does not have a simple meaning. It takes on many forms and can be expressed in different ways. It is influenced by many interrelated factors such as : the social, psychological, economic and political ones. It is evident that these factors have great influence on the privacy and eventually play a great role in shaping our living spaces, both the inside and the outside ones.
This paper, however, discusses the problem of privacy in three levels: it's meaning and concept, the factors shaping it and the parameters affecting the design of the residential spaces.
