Pakistan closed the Torkham crossing few days back after terrorist attacks in the neighboring country which left over a hundred killed and scores wounded. The closure of Torkham created multiple issues for Afghan travelers and busi- nessmen. Officials in Nan- garhar, however, expected the gate to be reopened to- day. Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Torkham gate closure en- tered fourth day on Mon- day, adding that sick peo- ple were also not allowed to cross the border. He said efforts were on and the reopening of the gate was expected today at any- time. The two Afghan athletes were selected by Hyn- derabad Sun Risers to play in the upcoming league. The former Afghan skipper Nabi was sold for 3,000,000 Indian Rupees while Rashid Khan was sold for 4 million Indian Rupees. The IPL matches are sched- uled to begin on 3rd April and will continue until 21st May of the year until the winner of the league is ascer- tained. The Sun Risers are the cham- pions of the league by seal- ing a victory in the final of the last year’s competition. They will continue to defend their championship in the new season of the league. In the meantime, the Afghan cricket Mohammad Shahzad was not selected by any team during the auction today along with the Afghan skip- per Asghar Stanikzai. This is the first time the Af- ghan cricketers will partici- pate in one of world’s largest cricket events in India. (KP) NDS Nabs 7 ANP Officers Accused of Selling Weapons to Taliban KABUL - Office of the Na- tional Directorate of Security (NDS) in Badghis province said on Monday that it has arrested seven members of the Afghan National Police (ANAP) accused of selling weapons of the security forc- es to the Taliban. According to local officials in Badghis, the group of officers were under the command of the technical department of Badghis police headquarters. They are alleged to have sold thousands of munitions to the Taliban over the past two years. The officers were arrested by the NDS while trying to sell more than 7000 bullets to the Taliban, said Badghis gov- ernor Mohammad Anwar Ishaqzai. Local officials have said that a man was serving as link be- tween the group of officers selling the weapons and the Taliban. “When we first came to the technical department, we knew nothing. There were guys who for six months had been removing weapons and ammunition, including bombs,” said one of the ac- cused. Part of the munitions which are sold to the Taliban, are weapons that were sent to the check points during the wars with the Taliban. It ap- pears that alleged criminals were keeping the weapons for themselves and then sell- ing them on to the Taliban.
