Capercaillie: Skye Waulking Song Revision Notes
Structure: Individuals verses are structured around a phrase and refrain. The refrain is formed from VOCABLES. Vocables are nonsense syllables.
Broadly speaking the song is in two sections surrounded by an instrumental introduction and a coda that fades out. The 1st section is from bars 9-24 and the 2nd is from bars 25-52.
Texture: The song is built from a layered texture. There is a section of heterophony created by the soloing of the Uilleann pipes and fiddle. The vocal melody and chordal accompaniment generates a homophobic texture for most of the song
