About the Workshop:

The purpose of the workshop is to develop an expertise by providinga thorough training and hands‐on experience on Free and OpenSource Software (FOSS) in general and particularly on e‐publishingplatform Open Journal System (OJS). This workshop is intended to

i i i i h kill f d l i h i bli hiequip participants with skills for developing their own e‐publishingplatform by means of intensive hands‐on training sessions (one toone system) by experts in the field.

Learning Objectives:

There will be lectures as well as intensive hands on trainingsessions by experts in the field. Thus it will provide boththeoretical base and practical skill to the participants.

—Enhance and build capacity of Library and Information Scienceprofessionals in using Open Journal System

—General introduction to Linux and e‐Publishing software withdetailed study on OJSdetailed study on OJS

—Provide hands‐on experience in using OJS software—Make the participants able to start an e‐Publishing by

installing, uploading & retrieving e‐contents using OJS—To increase the use of FOSS in information management.

Target Audience:

The workshop will be of immense benefit to all those involved indeveloping and maintaining e‐publishing platforms, CMS etc. suchas LIS faculty, Library and Information professionals, InformationScientists, Content Developer and other with similar jobScientists, Content Developer and other with similar jobresponsibilities. The workshop is confined to limited number of 25participants only.

—PKP Software and e‐Publishing platform —Installation of Operating system ‐ UBUNTU 14.04 LTS and

basic commands of LINUX D l di OJS ft f PKP —Downloading OJS software from PKP

—Installation & Configuration of OJS—Create Hosted Journal and Completing Setup process —User creation in OJS and Role assigning—Creating Issues and Publishing the articles online—Article Submission, Reviewing and Editing—Journal Subscription—IP Authentication and Access Rights.

CentreCentre for Library and Information Management Studies (CLIMS):

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has a rich heritage of building its library system keepingpace with the development of emerging enabling technologies. As a recognized National Institutespecialized in the field of social sciences, TISS has started several innovative initiatives in capacitybuilding. Sir Dorabji Tata Memorial Library, having organized several national and internationalg j y, g gconferences, workshops for capacity building, started a PG Diploma in Digital Library andInformation Management (PGDLIM) course in 2010. In order to monitor and for bettercoordination of academic programmes, a separate centre called Centre for Library andInformation Management Studies (CLIMS) was established in 2012. The centre will be headedby the Chairperson. The faculty will comprise both academic staff from Centre for Library andInformation Management Studies (CLIMS) as well as from Sir Dorabji Tata Memorial Library.

The Centre for Library and Information Management Studies (CLIMS), offers Masters, PG Diplomaand Ph.D programmes in Library and Information Science field. Master’s programme in Library andInformation Science (MLIS) is being offered since 2013 with an intake of 15 students. PG Diploma inDigital Library and Information Management (PGDLIM) was launched in 2010 with intake of 25students and currently in the sixth year. The Ph.D programme is being offered since 2012 andcurrently 21 research scholars are pursuing Ph.D in library science in the centre
