Origin Energy — Integrated Operations Centre

Design and Integration of a monitoring centre with real time, context sensitive access to all data across all sites within their generation portfolio.

Production Plans, Plant Data, Alarms, Operator Logs, Calculations, KPI’s, Reports, Drawings, Documents, Asset details, Work Orders, Maintenance Plans, Procedures and related web pages are all synchronised within the selected asset context. A large and comprehensive implementation of OSIsoft’s PI, Asset Framework and Matrikon OPC Universal Communications Servers was fundamental to the federating asset model.

Optimate’s scope included Requirements, Feasibility, System Architecture, Design and Specifications, Systems Integration, OSI PI and AF Implementation, multi-site OPC architecture and implementation, System Health Monitoring, Testing, Rollout andongoing support.

NT Power & Water — Pi Calculation And Validation

NT Power and Water were experiencing a number of issues with the quality of data into their PI system. Optimate deployed its Resultz application for data calculation and validation on top of their existing OSI

PI system to assist with data quality improvements. Optimate also provided consulting on AMR (Smart meters) integration within their business systems and processes, as well as multi-site OPC communications surveys and design.

Optimate’s scope included technical and consulting services, architecture, interfacing to OPC data sources, PI Calculation and Validation software.

OIL AND GAS

APLNG — Production Safety & Optimisation

APLNG has one of the largest PI systems in the world and is quickly expanding as more production gas wells are coming online.

Optimate’s Scope includes the design of the solution architecture, PI AF and system performance/stress testing. Optimate are also heavily involved with the maintenance of the PI system.

Chevron — PI Consulting And Solution Development

Chevron has in place a Master Services Agreement (MSA) with Optimate for supporting them with their initiative to roll out OSIsoft PI and OSIsoft PI Solutions into Chevron’s global business.

Optimate’s Scope includes the design of standards & best practise procedures, development with PI ACE, PI AF and other PI tools to create high value solutions. Optimate are also responsible for PI System installations on Greenfield sites.

Synergy — Intelligence Platform

Synergy needed to deploy a platform that integrated process and operational data from all of their generation facilities. Integration of Production & Operational Performance measures, reports, dashboards, equipment maintenance and documentation etc. Optimate deployed and integrated various business data sources into a centralised PI system.

Optimate’s scope included technical and consulting services aligned with best practise, architecture, OPC systems architecture to data sources, visualisation and PI AF.

Alinta Energy — OSIsoft Pi And Scada

Alinta is a gas and electricity retailer with 8 power generation sites across Australia and New Zealand. Optimate was asked to perform and full connectivity and SCADA audit of all sites.

Optimate’s Scope includes the support of their SCADA, OPC and PI systems.

SA WATER — OSIsoft PI support

SA Water have an OSIsoft PI system and bespoke applications which utilise PI data for reporting.

Optimate’s scope includes ongoing support of SA Water’s OSIsoft PI System and related components.

WA WATER CORPORATION — Automated Meter Reading

WA Water Corporation has many thousands of water meters across its own infrastructure. This project involved the implementation of a PI system to automatically read and validate the data from these meters into the business.

Optimate’s scope included functional design, interface development to ERP and meter data, configuration of PI, PI AF, PI ACE, Calculations Validation and Integration with PI Processbook.

SUNSTATE CEMENT — Plant Expansion

Sunstate required an expansion of their plant and associated automation systems to increase production capacity by 50%.

Optimate’s scope included design review, automation design, batch management, PLC programming, Citect configuration, testing, commissioning and ongoing support.

QUEENSLAND MAGNESIA — Plant Expansion

Queenland Magnesia were expanding their plant and associated automation systems to increase production capacity in the calcining area by 50%.

Optimate’s scope included design review, automation design, safety system integration, PLC programming, Citect SCADA configuration, a bespoke integrated Blend Optimisation application, testing and commissioning.

LION NATHAN CRESTMEADE — Plant Expansion

Optimate was engaged to expand the plant and associated automation systems to increase production capacity by 50%.

Optimate’s scope included design review, automation design, a production reporting system, product track and trace, PLC programming, Citect SCADA configuration, testing, commissioning and ongoing support.

CITIC PACIFIC MINING — Desalination Plant Production Reporting

CPM deployed an end-user configurable reporting framework, that supports both Excel & Reporting services. Initial deployment was within Excel using OSIsoft’s Datalink to PI plugin – allowing users familiar with Excel to rapidly develop daily, weekly reports etc. The requirement to allow all reports to include protection to prevent unauthorised changes to reports was also delivered.

Optimate’s scope was to design the architecture, implement/test the PI Datalink and assist with the creation of reports.

RIO TINTO — Clermont Mine Scada System Upgrade

The Clermont Mine was a new site that had been recently commissioned. The control systems were delivered as a part of a packaged contract. During commissioning and handover the operators found the control system to be difficult to use and this was significantly increasing the time required to restart the plant.

Optimate’s scope was to review and redesign the Citect SCADA system to make it more relevant and usable by the operators and other users.

RIO TINTO — Kestrel Mine Extension

The Kestrel Mine is an underground coal mine that feeds into the existing Coal Handling and Preparation Plant.

Optimate’s scope was to provide guidance to the customer, ensuring that the control system work being undertaken by the various package contractors aligned with company standards and met the needs of the operation on completion of the project.

BARRICK GOLD — Integrated Reporting And Downtime System

Barrick Gold required a corporate reporting and downtime system across its 5 sites. Optimate was engaged to install/configure OSIsoft PI as a corporate historian and to develop standardised reporting enabling benchmarking on normalised performance and operational KPI’s. Optimate’s scope included technical and consulting services, architecture, interfacing to data sources, PI Calculation and Validation software.
