    CCAY Project Coordinator

    The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples (CAP) requires a Cultural Connections for Aboriginal Youth

    (CCAY) Project Coordinator (Coordinator) who is an operations professional, willing to work for a

    fixed period of time (date of hire until March 31, 2014) to manage a project on Aboriginal YouthCivic Engagement. The Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing

    all tasks that relate to this specific project, while working closely with the National Youth Council.

    This Coordinator serves as the point person for the project; relays information between the projectmanager and client, and is responsible for the planning, execution and delivery of the project on time,

    within budget and according to specifications.

    The main deliverables of the project are:

    Facilitate of theFind Your Voice workshop at various Aboriginal Youth functions acrossCanada;

    Assist Aboriginal Youth and youth-service organizations in facilitating their own communityworkshops;

    Implement the role model program and coordinating role model community visits; and Organize a National Youth Conference.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    Develop a detailed schedule and ensure that all aspects of the project stay on task; Keep track of any changes regarding progress and issues, and adjust the schedule and other

    project details as necessary;

    Create promotional flyers and disseminate information via mail outs, Twitter and Facebook; Create new partnerships and linkages with Aboriginal and youth-service organizations; Approach organizers of Aboriginal Youth functions (conferences, meetings, workshops, etc.)

    and request an invite to present theFind Your Voice workshops;

    Work closely with the CAP National Youth Council to ensure project needs are being met; Coordinate travel, accommodations and workshops across Canada; Coordinate/facilitate training; Manage vendors and suppliers; Ensure all aspects of the project adhere to the budget; Produce reports on events which include obstacles and opportunities encountered; Create a detailed log of all activities, including requests for information, workshop sessions,

    number of participants reached, etc.; and

    Other duties to be assigned as required.

    Requirements:

    Post-secondary education with a minimum of three years of related experience; Work experience in youth empowerment, democratization and governance;

    The National Aboriginal Organization representing the

    rights and interests of Non-Status and Status Indians,Southern Inuit and Mtis Aboriginal Peoples living off-

    reserve throughout Canada since 1971.

    A sound track record of designing and delivering programs (training, workshops, seminars,conferences and campaigns) for youth and youth related issues, particularly with Aboriginal

    Youth;

    A minimum of one year experience in coordinating events and/or project management; Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal customs and traditions; Have a general knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and

    PowerPoint;

    Possess strong facilitation skills in order to hold meetings, feedback sessions and briefingsessions in order to obtain consensus among stakeholders;

    Be able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including technical, professionaland upper management;

    Possess solid knowledge of internet technologies and social media; Display strong problem identification and problem resolution skills; Have the ability to create and edit project documents, materials and presentations; Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; Be able to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines; Experience in a non-profit Aboriginal Organization setting; An ability to work independently, meet deadlines and flexible to work beyond normal office

    hours when required;

    Ability to travel is required; and Bilingualism, an asset.
