Teaching Students to Upload assignments completed in Google Docs into Canvas in

Google Doc and Word Formats

1. In the Chromebook, open a Google Doc as seen here. This is where the assignment will be completed.

2. Type into the Google Doc. Make sure the students will name the assignment by clicking the title in the upper left corner.

3. Make sure the students share in the share menu (upper right) the document if they are uploading it in

4. Change the permissions here and this will enable the teacher to view the doc. (if submitted in Google Doc format)

5. Select “Canyons School District” so that the teacher can view the google Doc if they are signed into their browser in the csddocs account.

6. Click Done to finish the sharing option.

Converting from Google Docs to a Word format

(probably the best for viewing assignments in Crocodocs in Canvas)

1. In the Google Doc, in the File Menu.

2. Download as- Choose the Microsoft Word Format

3. Click the file at the bottom of the screen to open the file.

4. Once the Word Doc is open, click “Save As...” in the File menu. Then it will take you to the downloads folder.

5. Drag the file from the Downloads folder on the Chromebook to the Google Drive Folder seen here.

In Canvas:6. Submit the File by selecting

Choose File.

7. This menu will open on the Chromebook and the student should select the Word Document as is shown here.

8. Then Submit the Assignment.

Grading/Viewing in Canvas:1. In Speedgrader click the

magnifying glass icon to view the document.

2. In Crocodocs (for a submission in Word Format) you can annotate on the document and enter the grades as shown here.
