Cool Coyote Happenings

Winter 2015 Newsletter Canyon Ridge PTA

Author and Illustrator Jason Chin visited Canyon Ridge Elementary on Thursday January 28th. Every student had an opportunity to listen to his entertaining presentation. Many students enjoyed seeing him quickly draw illustrations and share pictures of places that have inspired his books. The event was sponsored by your Canyon Ridge PTA.

Jason is the author of Island: A Story of the Galapagos, which won the 2013 Gryohon Award. The Gryphon Award is given annually to the author of an outstanding English language work of fiction or nonfiction for which the primary audience is children grades Kindergarten through Grade 4. Jason’s book was chosen because it best exemplified the qualities that successfully bridge the gap in difficulty between books for reading aloud to children and books for practiced readers.

The book was not available for pre-order at the time of Jason’s visit. The book is now available and may be ordered via the Canyon Ridge Library. Please visit the library to obtain an order form.

Dinosaur George Traveling Museum – April 4th

The PTA is proud to bring the Dinosaur George Natural History Museum to all students on April 4th. This exhibit is highly educational and brings a comprehensive curriculum designed for each grade level. Students will be led through an initial tour of the museum and then will enjoy a scavenger hunt exercise. Mark your calendars as the museum will be open that evening for all families to experience.

Howlin’ & Prowlin’ – April 8th

Many PTA sponsored events (like above & below) would not be possible without big fundraisers such as our upcoming Howlin’ & Prowlin’ festival. Stay tuned for upcoming corporate sponsorship and volunteer opportunities to help us support our fabulous school.
