ALEKS is an artificial intelligent assessment and learning system that
uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn't know in a course.
Integrate hands-‐on learning exercises into your course. You can add exercises to your
course in which participants 1) submit video responses, 2) review their peers, 3) receive feedback and 4) engage with experts. Make elearning interactive and social.
Aspire Analytics identifies students that are most at risk of dropping out of or failing online courses and ranks the riskiest students – across ALL courses they may be taking.
With the Atomic Learning LTI Tool, instructors can search Atomic Learning’s online library of technology training
videos and learning resources from within their LMS—and easily embed links to resources within courses.
Ayamel is a web-‐based system for streaming video and audio content, including captions and subtitles,
especially as it applies to learning a foreign language.

VitalSource Bookshelf® lets you access your eTextbooks online or download for offline viewing. Highlight passages and add your notes. Even better, subscribe to your friends and teachers, and "follow" them as they make their own

Canvabadges let you award badges to students in courses based on their total grade in the course and their completion of course modules. Badges are
added as module items in Canvas, and then must be configured by the instructor before students can earn them. Badges are Mozilla OpenBadges compatible.
Build and link to interactive educational content called MindLinks that deliver reading material, quizzes, activities, etc.
Chalk & Wire provides ePortfolio, Assessment and Data Analysis Tools
that can be used to help improve the student learning experience.
ChemVantage lets teachers build and distribute science education focused homework, video lectures, graded quizzes, etc.

accreditation reporting, and workflow, auditing and archival all without leaving the LMS course. Includes keyword search and previews, public and mobile access, automated notifications, and insertion of boilerplate policies for syllabi across the entire institution.

Courseload enables students and instructors to access their ebooks directly within their courses without the need to login separately. It has tools for
highlighting, annotation, collaboration, and search.
CourseSmart provides faculty and students with direct access to their personalized CourseSmart Bookshelf
and individual eTextbooks.
Cranium Cafe enables academic advising, proctoring services, financial aid counseling, tutoring, communication between teacher and student and between students via live online
meetings seamlessly integrated into LTI enabled platforms. Dropbox is a file hosting service. Files are accessible through a website and
mobile phone applications. Dropbox users select and link to files within course content or in conjunction with homework submissions.
Drupal is an open source content management system; this LTI app
allows auto-‐login to Drupal sites from another system. It's flexible enough to be used for community sites, Q&A services, forums, standard web pages, etc.
The EchoCenter is a content portal used by Echo360 faculty and students to access their rich media recordings and for faculty to view usage statistics for the captured lectures.
Educreations users "record" whiteboard sessions as short online
lessons using their iPad. Browse and link to any of the publicly available lessons.
Elementary Paper offers printable handwriting practice sheets that you can link to.
Open source social networking. You can add a link to your course navigation that will send users to an Elgg network already logged in.
EvaluationKIT is a fully hosted course evaluation and survey system that
provides survey authoring tools, automated reporting for instructors and administrators (specific to just their courses or areas they oversee), and much more.
ExamSoft offers a secure computer-‐based testing and assessment analytics that provide actionable outcomes data and insights.
Supports question banking; exam blueprinting; take-‐home assignment management and analysis; and flexible reporting features, presented visually, for teaching and learning data analysis. Educators can deliver exams to any laptop or iPad without WiFi.
Feed The Me lets teachers aggregate a number of news feeds (Atom or RSS), filtered by tags, within
the course environment. For example, this might be relevant blogs or news feeds from external sources, or perhaps a collection of student-‐produced blogs.
Link to a collection of online games focusing on different learning activities.
Flat World Knowledge offers free, open-‐licensed textbooks that can be used in class material.
This flickr search tool lets users to add free, public photos from flickr into Canvas via editor button integration.
Funbrain links to interactive online learning activities targeted at K-‐8 learners.
GitHub embeds project summaries or code gists from GitHub's social coding site. Includes major language, commit
dates, forks and watchers for repos, syntax-‐highlighted code for gists.
Build and embed interactive charts, rendered using Google Charts. Populate the fields provided and see
the chart update in real-‐time while building. Supports pie charts, bar charts, bubble charts, tree maps, etc.
Graph builder lets you define graphs based on simple or complex equations and chart them dynamically. Zoom and move the
graph around and then embed it into course content.

Hoot.me allows students to study and work collaboratively from within Facebook or the LMS. Includes text chat, video chat and Q&A features.
i>clicker is an audience response system used for tracking student
answers on pop quizzes, surveys, etc. This app lets you run and track your i>clicker assessments from within the learning platform.
Inigral Schools App is a private social network within Facebook for colleges and universities. Links to a school's app can be launched from within a course, and can also be added as a link that students will see in their user profile.
The Internet Archive hosts public domain video, audio, books, images and other resources. Links to any of these resources can easily be added
to any course content.
It’s More Than a TextBook helps professor authors to
create inexpensive interactive online textbooks with optional integrated assessment system.
Search for and embed Khan Academy lessons and exercise into course material. Khan Academy focuses on short lessons on math, science, etc. Uses the
embedded player so students earn points for watching videos.
Knowillage LeaP™ creates personalized adaptive learning paths, offers recommendations, and provides remediation in a way that’s intuitive
and easy to use by teachers and students.
Learn LTI provides a series of lessons to help people learn and implement their own LTI-‐compliant integration.
Short lessons with an interactive testing engine help the learner to gradually build up expertise about the different pieces of LTI functionality.
Learning Catalytics is a cloud-‐based solution for engaging students with authentic formative assessments in real
time both inside and outside of the classroom, and rich data analytics that are used to drive student interactions.

Free game-‐based math learning resources for K-‐12 learners. Games and activities can be linked to from within any course content.
Mathalicious develops high-‐quality, standards-‐based math videos and lessons aligned to Common Core standards.
Provides access to McGraw Hill's interactive resources tied to course content and textbooks. This app auto-‐
logs users into MH-‐Campus from within course material.
MediaCore provides media management focused on educational content, lets you quickly link to and embed media resources within content.
Mediasite brings easy-‐to-‐use lecture capture and video publishing to
Canvas. Faculty can capture or upload video lectures, screencasts and tutorials. Publish content to designated courses or embed video content anywhere in the LMS. Students access content and stream course videos without leaving Canvas. Mediasite provides powerful video search, interactivity and sharing tools.
MIT OpenCourseWare is a collection of materials from MIT-‐taught courses that have been released with a Creative Commons
license. Browse and link to materials from these collections within your course.
Internet Math Assessment System lets you create and administer auto-‐graded math assessments to students. It has experimental support for passing grades back to the LMS.
Search for and link to articles from New York Times archives. Articles can
be filtered by relevance and year published.
The Nook Study basic LTI tool makes it easy for teachers to search for and then link to Nook Study reading materials or textbooks.
Create, share and playback musical scores on the web. Use Noteflight to create and share music assignments with students instantly.

OCW Search collects OCW courses from MIT, Stanford, Yale, the Open University,
etc. for searching and linking.
The Open Badges app displays a user's public badges from Mozilla Backpack (openbadges.org) within the LMS. This app is a perfect way to
allow your students to view the badges they have earned.
OpenTapestry helps instructors discover, modify, and share open educational resources from across the web. Resources and lessons can
be inserted directly into course content.
The Panopto lecture capture tool can be launched either from within course content or as a course-‐level
navigation option, giving role-‐based options to the user. Students can browse recorded lectures associated with the course; teachers can start a new Panopto lecture capture without leaving the LMS.
(SWoRD Peer Review) SWoRD is a collaborative learning tool that improves writing skills. SWoRD’s grading algorithms eliminate peer
bias, ensuring that students take their reviewing task seriously and optimizing learning outcomes. Rubric-‐ creation tools and document double-‐blind anonymity provide the core peer review platform.
Pathbrite is an ePortfolio tool that can be integrated into the LMS.
PebblePad is an ePortfolio tool that can be integrated into the LMS.
Piazza is a new style of discussion/Q&A site with a focus on
educational institutions. This integration adds a link to the course navigation for Piazza discussions, and auto-‐logs the user into the course discussions area.
Pixton gives students a fun, new way to design and control fully posable, expressive characters, speech bubbles, backgrounds, photos, and even voice-‐over. Print, download, and embed comics.
PlaceKitten lets you embed perfectly sized kitten images into any online content. You pick the dimensions, and then embed it into your content.
PLATO provides standards-‐based online curriculum in a rich, interactive environment.
Programr offers coding challenge projects for programming languages including Java, C# and C++.
Prulu is a classroom Q&A-‐style site with inline equations, basic analytics and notifications. This integration adds a link
to the course navigation for Prulu discussions.
Public Collections lets you browse or search through multiple content repositories including MIT OCW, Khan Academy, USA Today, etc.
Question2Answer is an open source Q&A site. You could use it to host course or
institution-‐level Q&A services. This app allows for auto-‐login to the Question2Answer platform from another system. Links can be added to course content, or optionally as course navigation.
QuestionMark is a tool for creating and delivering surveys, quizzes and
exams. Instructors can add assessments to their course content on configured accounts.
QuestionPress offers live web-‐based classroom response, assessments,
surveys, and polling to any web device. Allows you to embed QuestionPress directly into your LMS page, expedites responder enrollment into a session, and passes scores from QuestionPress back up to the LMS grade book.
Search for and embed publicly available flashcards and question sets from Quizlet. Questions can be embedded directly into content as flash cards, review, or as a study game. Please note this tool
will only search content that has been publicly available.
Redirect allows you to add links to external web resources that show up as navigation items in course, user or account navigation.
Whatever URL you specify is loaded within the content pane when users click the link.
Sage is an online open source mathematics software system, an alternative to Mathematica or Matlab. Users can build interactive
mathematical systems that are rendered in the browser.
SchoolTube is a public, searchable collection of videos uploaded from schools. Videos can be inserted as links or embedded in course material.
SchoolTube is an excellent alternative for schools who may be restricting YouTube through their firewall or simply want to limit their search to content that has been created by schools.

Delivers SCORM packages in a standardized way across learning platforms. Robust SCORM engine with
built-‐in grade passback and activity tracking.
Slideshare allows you to search for and embed Creative Commons-‐
licensed presentations hosted on Slideshare. Currently this app doesn't support user logins, so it only allows searching public slideshares.
Smarthinking is an on-‐demand student mentoring and tutoring that can be embedded as
a course or user resource.
Search through and insert links to quizzing and learning resources hosted by Smarterer.
Build, modify and link to learning resources created using the SoftChalk Cloud development engine. Supports writing grades back when used as a graded assessment.
Speeqe chat allows you to add chat rooms to web pages. This app lets you add a chat room as a course
navigation link for your students. NOTE that since Speeqe doesn't run over SSL, you'll get security warnings when using in a Canvas instance that, like Maricopa’s, runs on https.
SoftChalk Cloud Open hosts a collection of open-‐licensed learning resources created by users; preview or link to any of these resources.
Spelling City offers a collection of spelling practice resources, including games, drills, and handwriting practice around different sets of words.
Starfish is enterprise student success software that integrates with LMS/ SIS, and identifies at-‐risk students
based on feedback from advisors, instructors, and student services staff members as well as data within your LMS/SIS (grades, assignments, activity, holds, registrations).
Status.net is a private microblogging platform that can be run for your institution, department or course. This app allows for auto-‐login to the
Status.net system from course content or course navigation.
Storify lets users organize events from across the web into a single cohesive
"story". Adding this app allows you to search through and link to social stories from within your course material.
StudyEgg offers customized lessons using online video and questions. NOTE: a user comment says this site will be closing down at the end of
2013 so will no longer be relevant soon.
StudyMate Class helps students "master the basics" of course material through learning activities, self-‐assessments, and games. Flash cards, crosswords
and quizzes engage students with course content. StudyMate Class resides within a Canvas course and allows both instructors and students to create items collaboratively.
Study.Net is a web service used to assemble, manage and deliver personal and copyright digital course content, and to facilitate the use of
digital course material by students.
StudyRoom is a social learning platform that allows students to meet their classmates online, form
study groups and really study together -‐-‐ from their computer, iPad or iPhone. Teachers can embed a study room in their course.
Tandem is a small content management system that allows students to practice their speaking skills by doing synchronous pair tasks to facilitate the
practice of language in pairs. It also allows teachers to upload new Tandem activities previously downloaded or created from the SpeakApps OER repository.
Taskstream is an ePortfolio and assessment engine that can be
embedded within the learning platform.
TED Ed is a collection of quality videos that can be used for instructional purposes. This app lets you search for
and embed TED Ed videos in your course material.

TextReader is a lightweight app that lets teachers create blocks of text where students can click any word in
the text and retrieve an inline definition of the word.
Search list of content collected as part of the Learning Registry, an online initiative to share and reuse learning
resources from across the Internet.
TitanPad offers free, public collaborative documents based on EtherPad. Every placement of a TitanPad in your content will result in a new
pad being created. Students can also chat while working together on a pad.
Launch Toolwire learning resources from within your course material.
Trello lets you organize thoughts and ideas into categories or lists. It works well as a (potentially collaborative) to-‐
do list or task manager. This app shows summary information for a public Trello board.
Embed lists of recent tweets or individual tweets from Twitter. Lists can be derived from search
results, or from a user's twitter feed. Individual tweets require the tweet ID.
uCertify allows you to embed test preparation resources for IT certifications.
Search for and link to articles from USA Today's archives.
Vanilla is an open source community forum tool that can be run for your institution, department or course. This app allows for auto-‐login to the Vanilla
forum from course content or course navigation.
Via Response is a cloud student response system that lets students use
their own devices for classroom response. Via also handles hybrid and lecture-‐capture classes where students participate remotely or asynchronously, case studies, image questions, equation editors, chat and more. Via is always free for instructors.
Vimeo is a video sharing website on which users can upload, share, and
view videos. The Vimeo tool lets users search for and embed videos into course content.
VoiceThread is a collaborative communication tool that allows text, audio, video, voice and
annotated communication. Once VoiceThread is accessed within your LMS, your users will be signed into their accounts. VoiceThread will also create a Group under your VoiceThread license that houses content for the course within your LMS.
WebAssign allows you to embed auto-‐graded math and science
homework within your course material.
WebPA is an open source online peer assessment tool that can be used for
course activities. It also allows sharing assessment activities across courses or even institutions.
Search through English Wikipedia articles and link to or embed these articles into course material.
Search through English Wiktionary definitions and insert definitions into course material.
Teachers can link to a WikiSpaces Private Label wiki within the course environment. Students are given viewing and editing abilities.
WordPress is a blogging and publishing platform. You can use it to host student or class blogs. This
app allows for auto-‐login to the WordPress platform. Links can be added to course content, or optionally as course navigation.
XWiki allows scripting in pages and plugins, setting up a specific wiki space
for each course, and lets teachers to administrate this space and students to edit and create pages collaboratively.
Search publicly available YouTube videos, and click to embed videos in your course material. NOTE: Shows the
first 16 results for any keyword.
Search publicly available YouTube videos within a specific channel. A new icon will show up in your course rich editor letting you search YouTube and
click to embed videos in your course material.
YouTube Capture allows you to record videos from your webcam or upload them from your desktop into your personal YouTube account.
Newly created videos are automatically linked within your course content.
YouTube for Schools is a collection of videos that can be whitelisted for
campus access without opening up all of YouTube. Browse YouTube's EDU content and embed videos in your course.
