Department of Athletics Stanford University 641 E. Campus Dr. Stanford, CA 94305 To Whom It May Concern,

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I can recommend Jamie Cantero. I have been acquainted with Ms. Cantero for 3 years as her former employer at SB Gymnastics, a boys’ gymnastics school that operates at Stanford University. Jamie was my first hire after I began as Program Director and Head Coach in June of 2012.

Jamie is a more-than exceptional employee; she embodies enthusiasm, is responsible, reliable, and self-starting. During her time at SB Gymnastics, the recreational program was grown from 30 participants to nearly 100. Much of this growth was due to her innovative approach to the job. She spent time recruiting: she encouraged her students to invite friends to participate in trial classes, which many times led to new enrollments. She stayed late to discuss children’s progress with parents, and created personal workout plans for the athlete’s specific needs. Her personal attention to customers and willingness to engage with them often led to highly satisfied parents, positive reviews for our gym, and increased referrals. Jamie’s dedication and excellence has led to a now thriving program that is held in high regard within both the local community and the greater Bay Area.

Jamie began coaching boys gymnastics having had limited personal experience, but she learned quickly and contributed significantly. She jumped in with both feet, willing to learn and receive both guidance and criticism. She consistently completed projects that were outside of her normal job responsibilities: She researched extensively to bring new drills and games to our classes; she developed lesson plans and curriculum that influenced other coaches in the gym; she developed goal tracking sheets and reward systems that improved the program. In doing so, she demonstrated strong leadership and initiative. As a coach, Jamie has a unique ability to inspire, motivate, and encourage. Her organized and progress-focused approach developed young athletes who not only improved in the sport, but also developed strong self-image, pride, and work ethic.

I have no doubt that Ms. Cantero would be an asset to any organization and that she would rise beyond expectations. She is missed around the gym but her influence remains and continues to guide our program’s improvement. I am available and happy to discuss any questions. Sincerely, Karl Ziehn Assistant Coach – Men’s Gymnastics Stanford University 510.334.0674
