AMY LI THE LYNCH-GETTY GLOBAL STUDENT AWARD This award is given to a student who has demonstrated leadership in their community through involvement in groups, events and activities that foster intercultural learning and understanding in school and in the community

PRESENTATION OF SPECIAL AWARDS ACADEMIC SCHOOL LETTER CREST Awarded to graduating students (through a point system) who have accumulated a minimum of 30 credits (with a minimum of six Grade 12 level courses) over their four years of secondary school, achieving and maintaining an average of 90%, including 18 compulsory credits, each academic year. Students make application for this award.

DEPARTMENTAL AWARDS ROBERT PALMAI VOCAL AWARD Awarded to a graduating Vocal Music student who has shared their talent with humility, responsibility, commitment and caring.

ALEXANDER VIDAL GARTH HAMPSON SCHOLARSHIP AWARD Presented to a Canterbury Vocal graduating student who has shown dedication throughout their 4 years in the Vocal program. The recipient will have demonstrated merit, ability, and achievement in vocal performance, particularly in ensemble settings, as well as the key qualities of a choral singer including leadership, musicality, commitment, positive response to direction, and a strong sense of ensemble. The recipient has been committed to community spirit and volunteerism, has contributed to the success of the vocal program by maintaining a positive, inclusive choral atmosphere and displayed conduct in keeping with the excellence of the Music Program.

MARIN CAVANAGH MUSICARE WINDS AWARD Awarded to the graduate of the Winds Music Program who has demonstrated excellence in their area and has made a positive contribution to the Arts Canterbury Program and to the community.

TALIA NAVAS ALMA DUNCAN AWARD Awarded to a graduating high school student from the Ottawa area who has applied, or who has been accepted into a full-time undergraduate Fine Arts Program at a recognized Canadian University.

Awarded to a graduating student in the Arts Canterbury Program who has not only shown dedication to and achievement in the Dramatic Arts, but who has also demonstrated an interest and talent in more than one area of theatre or the arts, ie. dancing, writing, stand up, or design, mixed with a real interest in performance whether it be in acting, directing, or tech. This student is planning to pursue post-secondary studies in Dramatic Arts either at the college or university level.

STRINGS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD Proudly sponsored by Strings and Things to a Canterbury Strings graduating student who has shown dedication throughout their 4 years in the Strings program. The recipient will have demonstrated a positive attitude, spirit of mentorship and compassion, and embodies the Suzuki music philosophy of musicianship and good citizenship.

CHRISTINE HANSEN MUSIC AWARD Presented to a graduating music student who has displayed dedication, enthusiasm and leadership in the pursuit of musical excellence at Canterbury High School. This student will have earned the respect of both the staff and students, and will have contributed fully to the CHS Music Department.

SADIE GRAVES ERIN JOHANSEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR DRAMA AND WRITING AWARD This award recognizes in name and spirit the life of Erin Johansen. Erin graduated from Canterbury in 1993. She was a passionate engaging young artist who loved the theatre and literature. Her characteristic independence enriched her life and those around her. She was a loving daughter, sister, friend, fiancé and story-lover. Today and for future commencements to come at Canterbury High School, Erin’s name will symbolize the spirit of the Arts and the recipient will carry her memory for generations to come.

DEPARTMENTAL AWARDS OYAP ‘TOOLS OF THE TRADE’ BURSARY Presented to a student to celebrate their accomplishments and success in the program, who is pursuing an apprenticeship/trade program at college or continuing in the apprenticeship pathway after graduating from high school.

LAETITIA BEST CHARLES MITCHELL MEMORIAL AWARD Presented in memory of Charles Mitchell who was a talented artist, a good student and a well-rounded individual. This award is given to a student who is planning to continue their studies in a Visual Arts related program.

HANNAH SWINTON

LITERARY ARTS AWARD & MEDAL This award is given to a graduating student who has demonstrated tremendous commitment to their craft through meticulous drafting, editing, revision and reflection, making notable progress over their years in the program, while at the same time being actively involved in Literary Arts activities, including coffeehouses, Spotlight, spoken word and writing competitions.

JOE STALMACH’S WRITER AWARD This award is presented annually to graduating students by the Canterbury High School English Department.

SARA MIZANNOJEHDEHI TOOLBELT AWARD This award is presented to a student who has completed a construction credit or participated in the Housebuilding Program, achieving the highest level, and who has demonstrated dedication to pursuing the apprenticeship pathway – continuing on with their employer or entering a diploma program in the College pathway post-secondary.
