Lesson #1: Product Overview

The most successful sales people are those that are passionate about their productline.

SO, WHAT MAKES OUR PRODUCT LINE STAND OUT?

Soy Candles vs. Natural Wax - the Difference

You may be wondering what the difference is between a "soy" candle and a "naturalwax" candle.

It can be confusing. At Scent-Sations, we started as a pure "Soy" candle and our"Mad Scientist Candle Maker", Carmen Milazzo soon discovered that pure Soy waxdoes not hold the scent as strongly as he desired. His goal has always been tocreate the strongest, best smelling NATURAL WAX candle in the marketplace.

So, he began experimenting with blends of Soy, Vegetable and Bees Wax. Theresults have been amazing and that is what has created the Mia Bella GourmetCandle!

Today, we no longer differentiate between "Soy" wax and "Vegetable" wax. So weprefer to call our candle a natural wax candle. One thing is for certain; our candlescontain no paraffin or petroleum products!

Here is the "official" stance on our candles from the company - Looking for a greatperforming soy candle? So were we until we found out about a better way to makesoot-free candles!

Although soy candles are one of the newest innovations in candle technology, many"gourmet candle lovers" have been switching to natural vegetable waxes instead! The inventor of our natural vegetable wax candle was one of the original innovatorsof low soot and soot free candle technology. Like most candle makers of that period(late 1990s) he started his quest by working with soy wax. He soon found thatalthough soy was indeed a great way to create a low soot candle, it wasn't (in hisopinion) the right material for gourmet candles!

In his opinion, gourmet candle burners want strongly scented candles that cover alarger area and give a more realistic scent. What he found was that natural

vegetable wax candles not only burned just as clean as a soy candle, but could holdmore scent. More scent means a better "gourmet" candle.

With our candles the consumer gets the healthier qualities of a cleaner burningcandle, but they also get maximum value and performance! It isn't necessary tosacrifice performance for a healthier alternative. The performance you’ll get withour gourmet blend is incredible to the very end!

We challenge you to test one of our natural vegetable wax candle(s). We feelconfident that you will agree with us that soy candles "just don't hold a flame" tonatural wax candles!! Want to know why we are so confident??

Because we also took the challenge....and now we only burn natural wax candles. In fact, we only burn, ONE specific natural wax candle....

If you are looking for the best smelling, best performing, lowest soot producingcandle on the planet...you've come to the right place! Experience the difference!Try our Gourmet, Scented Candle and find out why more and more homes acrossAmerica are enjoying this amazing candle experience!

As you can see, one of the reasons so many of us are having such success with thisbusiness is the simplicity of the product line. You don't have to show anyone "howto" burn a candle or "how to" use a bar of soap! Once they have tried a Mia Bella’sCandle or a Bella Bar, it's the only candle or soap they want! TESTIMONIALS

“All I did was set up a couple 6’ tables in my living room. I neatly draped table cloths over

and around the tables and display shelves and our entire product line was convenientlydisplayed for all to smell. My sales were over $600 that day! The beginning of the week I

received phone calls from people that were not able to make it and my sales increasedanother $300!” Paula B. – Maine

“I held a candle benefit open house for a neighborhood lady who was diagnosed with

ovarian cancer. I mailed out approximately 140 invitations and placed a few flyers in thearea stores and post office. I am not sure how many attended, but it was a lot. My totalsales after the party and phone orders were $1646.80. The cancer victim will receive 20%

“I’m new to the Mia Bella family and I had to write and tell you how much I love the MiaBella soap. I have the driest skin and have never been able to use any soap or lotion with ascent in it because my skin was too sensitive. I have tried the Mia Bella Soap and I LOVE

IT!!! I can finally stop buying the expensive oatmeal soaps and lotion. This is truly the bestsoap I have used in my life. I just became a life time user of the soap.” Martha B.

Lesson #2: Business Overview

How we got started

In 2002 the doors of Scent-Sations were opened. Bobbie Scocozzo, (CEO) Charlie

Umphred (VP Marketing) and Carmen and Lyn Milazzo (Candle makers) began this journey for us. Bobbie and Charlie had been involved in a few Multi LevelMarketing businesses before and when they found Carmen’s candles they decidedthis incredible candle was going to be the vehicle they had been looking for to begina networking company that was all about the Distributor. They have stayed true totheir word.

“Our Goal at Scent-Sations, Inc. is to empower anyone to work part time from hisor her home to build a local, regional, national and eventually an internationalbusiness by showing our products and our business plan.”

AND . . . if he or she was never able to recruit a person he or she can always earnmoney by retailing our products!

Lesson #3: Retailing

If you choose this business it will probably be because you see the ease of selling

our products. You are right. Scent-Sations has made it so simple for us to retail. They have put very few limitations on us. Not only may we retail locally, but thecompany provides an Online Ordering site as well.

Online ordering for your customers is available on your personalized Scent-Sations’ website! As Candle of the Month members / distributors, we each have a websitethat is designed and managed for us by the Corporate Staff. There is no set up feefor this website; it is part of your Candle of the Month Program membership.

Take a look at what your Online Store will be like -

http://www.annalauracandles.scent-team.com/retail/home.php

In addition to Online sales you may also market your products through:

Home PartiesOpen HousesExposCraft FairsFarmer’s MarketsHome & Garden ShowsDoor to Door

Lunch by CandlelightEtc.

If you have a bent toward crafts, make votive bells or roses. Put our products ingift baskets. The opportunities go on forever! Use your imagination.

The key is just to get the product out there and "Show, Smell, Tell and SELL!" Wecall this the “Smell and Sell” business.

One of the most effective ways we get our product out there has been to developscent samples.

Each month, as a distributor we receive one dozen votives in the newest scent. If you will take those 12 votives, remove the wicks (they just slide out of the bottom),place the votives in a large zip lock bag, then gently step / crush them into apowder that you spoon into the tiny 2" zip lock bags.

Page 11: Candle eBook

8/9/2019 Candle eBook

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/candle-ebook 11/31

LeadersOnFire Team Candle E-Course 11/08 | 11

You attach these scent samples to business cards, catalogs and brochures and thenshare with people you come into contact with.

This is a very cost effective way to get your scent sample out there (one votivemakes about 30-40 scent samples). You have probably received a scent samplelike I am talking about. If not, just email me and I’ll get one to you right away.

Are you ready for a challenge?

Let’s call this the “3-a-Day” Challenge. Sit down right now and make a list of threepeople a day, for the next week, that you will come in contact with. This could bebank tellers, accountants, grocery clerks, work mates, teachers, babysitters, waitresses, etc.

Now, how easy would it be to just hand each of these people a business card orcatalog with a scent sample attached; pretty easy, right? That’s how easy it is toshare this business. It is like sharing with others your favorite movie or restaurant.

You don’t find that difficult do you? Well that’s all this is; sharing with people thisincredible product/business that you have found.

You say, “Do you like to burn candles or know anyone that does?” Even if theydon’t burn candles (which is unusual), they generally know someone who does.

Don't pre-judge ANYONE! You just never know what will come of your efforts toshare your business.

Lesson #4: Figuring Retail Prices

Figuring Retail Prices

This is YOUR business, so you can set the prices for your candles, that works in

your area. A fun exercise is to go out and find the highest quality candle in yourarea (think Yankee, Circle E, or any other type of high end candle) - see what theyare pricing their 16oz (or similar) candles at. We actually add $1 to OUR price, simply because Mia Bella's are BETTER, and our customers know it!

Also, retail pricing will vary from location to location, based on the health of thelocal economy. An item that sells for $21.95 in an upscale community, might onlysell for $18.95 in a less affluent area.

Also, if you want to offer something that is lower-priced, consider selling groupingsof the Votives, or the Mia Melts.

Votives

1 for $ 3.004 for $11.006 for $15.008 for $18.0012 for $24.00

Here's an excellent Gift Basket idea:

You can find a cute basket, figure in its cost, and sell product that way. Many

distributors offer 3 votives and a votive holder, wrapped and prepared to give as agift in a cute gift sack, with shredded "grass" and tied with a nice ribbon (cost onmaterials would be around $4.00). Perhaps $15-20 would be a good price, based onwhat's included.

Here's an idea for retailing Mia Melts:

It's Mia Bella without the flame! Mia Melts are wax melts made from our proprietarynatural wax blend, and should be used in a well-ventilated area with a candle-lit, ora UL-approved electric, wax potpourri pot.

Mia Melts are currently available in packages of ten, in a variety of fabulous scents.Folks may already have a means of melting them, in which case you can simplyretail the Mia Melts by the bag.

Or, offer Mia Melts with the Mia Melter (electric simmer pot) -- You could easilyretail the Mia Melter with a package of the Mia Melts at $24.95 or more. Your costas a distributor for an electric simmer pot plus a bag of Mia Melts would be$14.90... that's a profit of $10.05!

Lesson #5: Open Houses

Don’t confuse Open Houses with Home Parties. There is a difference. Open Houses

are generally a come and go environment. You set a time that people may stop inand they come in, look through your product line, shop and leave. A Home Party

usually has an agenda that everyone follows. They all come and leave at a certain

time.

It is very EASY to spend too much money up front whether you are doing an Open

House or a Home Party. Our goal is to make you PROFITABLE…not go in debt.

Here are some ideas we have come up with and use.

The customer will purchase more products if you can give those ideas about how to

use our products as gifts. Don’t make the mistake of making up a bunch of crafty

things; ready to sell. In the end, you will end up with a lot of extras. We don’t

want that to happen.

Put out examples of what you can do for your customers and then gave them an

order sheet where they can select various items. You then make up what is

paid for, in advance, and deliver it to them or had them pick it up. If some

of the items you put out are not selected, keep the receipts and I take them back.

Yep, become a “take back queen/king!”

Here are some examples of items you could put out for your customers:

(The cost will depend on how much it costs to put the package together. Then

double the cost.)

Various colored stockings:

Votive to match that scent

Lesson #6: Party Plan

Believe it or not, most women LOVE home parties. We often see this as a time toget together with girlfriends, eat, drink, socialize, share companionship and support

and make new friends!

We’ve put together this information to assist you in making your party a success!

Who to Host the PartyAsk your best friend, your neighbor, or anyone that you know likes to have home

parties to host a party. Let the hostess know that she can earn free candles, andtell her about your product line - "Clean burning, great smelling, long lasting, unique and priced to sell!"

Or, HOST IT YOURSELF. You can even call it a Candle Open House.

Suggested Ideas for where to host the Party

1.  Your Home2.  Friend's Home3.  Condominium Community Center4.  Salon or Spa5.  Doctor's Office6.  Health Food Store7.  Local Community Center8.  Recreation Center9.  Health Club

10.Church11.Yoga Studio12.Alternative Health Center13.Boutique or Quaint Coffee Shop

Inviting Guests to your Party

This doesn’t need to be complicated. You can mail invitations, email invitations anddirections to your home or party location, or simply pick up the phone and call. Oruse a combination that works well for you and your guests.

I strongly suggest that you over-invite. Don’t pre-judge anyone as to whether theywould like to come or if they can come, etc. Let them be the one to decide forthemselves! Even if people say yes, some will have to cancel, and it is a fact thatthere will be some that will not show up after giving you a firm commitment. Don’tworry about the ones not there; focus on enjoying the ones that are!

Scripts for calling people

"Hi! Is this a good time to talk? I just wanted to give you a call and invite you tomy Gourmet Soy Candle Party on date at time. I recently found a line of HandPoured Gourmet Soy Candles that are a healthy alternative to paraffin wax andthey smell outrageously delicious and I absolutely love them. You will even get afree gift for coming and if you bring a friend you will get two. Of course, we'll havesnacks! Can I count on you to come?"

If they can’t come - "Oh, I'm so sorry. We will miss you. Is there a time I mightdrop by and show these to you?"

Consider mentioning the fundraising aspect and see if they know anyone looking fora great fundraiser.

What you need to begin -

1.  Make sure you have ordered a sampler pack so you can "Smell, Tell and Sell"your candles. The Jars will "tell the story" better than just the votives.

2.  Give your hostess some invitations and also suggest that she call her invitedguests the day before to remind them of time, date, address.

3.  A display table for the candles and hand outs. It can be something at thefront of the room or a large coffee table. Put Candle Drawing Forms here, too. Have brochures, business cards, Fragrance list/order form, and alsohandouts for fundraisers and the opportunity for becoming a distributor.

4.  Have pens and a calculator available.5.  Consider having Votives on hand to give as gifts and prizes6.  A smile and great attitude! This will be FUN! And, you WILL make money!

For the Party -

Have some simple, easy treats cookies or a fruit or veggie tray and something todrink.

Please don’t break out the china and glassware. Just use paper plates (if needed),disposable glasses and paper napkins.

The reason for this is you can get party bookings from your guests. If you go allout, your guests may feel that it may take a lot of work or fancy food and

impressive serving ware and they could be reluctant to be a host themselves!

48 Hours before the Party

You’ll need to find out exactly who is coming! It can be a phone call or send out anemail RSVP request. Don’t forget to ask if your guests will be bringing a guest andmake sure they have driving directions.

At the Party

As people come in, greet them, introduce them to other guests. Have the guestssign the guest book or guest list and have fun chit chatting.

Invite guests to grab a snack and a drink. About 15 minutes after the official starttime, get everyone gathered together for the candle presentation.

All you need to do is thank them for coming and introduce yourself, even thoughthey will likely know you. This is where you will say something about the candlesyourself, why you started your business, etc.

Once the presentation and any games are done, assist your guests if needed tocomplete their order forms or beverage refills, etc.

After the Party

Decide how many days you want to keep the party open for outside orders. Makeany follow up phone calls needed to get your orders in.

More detailed ideas are provided with our Exclusive Team Training Site.

Lesson #7: Lunch by Candlelight (Office Parties)

This lesson is a FUN alternative to the typical 'home party'.

"Lunch by Candlelight"

What is "Lunch by Candlelight"? It's a home party that is held at the 'office' or at arestaurant offered during the lunch hour.

Office Party Guide

It is becoming more and more difficult for people to find time in their busyschedules to have home parties. After working a full day and coming home tofamilies that require lots of time and attention, we find that women don't desire tohave to go to the trouble of inviting people into their home...even though they

enjoy the concept of getting together, having good food, and shopping for greatproducts.

Mia Bella’s has the answer, it's "Lunch by Candlelight." We have the perfectsolution for this untapped market of professional men and women who have moneyto spend, but not a lot of time. We bring the party to them during the day and indoing so we don't take away from their family time. Besides many workers have an

hour at lunch which they don't know how to occupy anyways.

This is also ideal for the distributor who wants to work their business during the daywhile the kids are at school and not have to be away from their families at nightand on weekends. And we know how profitable this avenue of selling can be. So itis a win-win for both the buyer and the distributor.

Candlelight Challenge: Start out early in the morning in an area with manyoffices/businesses. Your goal is to visit 20 businesses, each and every one, without

judging the outcome based upon the type of business, the traffic flow, or thecondition of the building. You never know who will buy, who will book a lunchoffice party, or who may become a business partner.

You will get No’s, but don't stop! This is very important. Don't take it personally.Don't think of the outcome. Just remember your goal is to visit 20 businesses andwhen you have done that, you have succeeded because you accomplished your

goal, even if you didn't make one sell. Treat yourself for following through. Youare planting seeds, getting your product exposed, and getting more comfortablepresenting to others. It’s easier than you think; in fact, it’s FUN!

You will carry with you a Scent Sample Sachet stapled to a companybrochure/catalog or stapled to a business card, the "Lunch by Candlelight" half pageflyer (available on the Team Resource Website), and a basket with a couple of jarsand votives. Remember this is a simple business of "Smelling and Selling."

Depending upon the nature of the work environment and your comfort level, youmay enter the office and ask, "Does anyone here like scented candles?" Then gowith the reaction you get.

If you have interested people who have the time, allow them to smell the jars andattempt a sale or a booking at this time. If their time is limited, they say they don'taccept solicitation, or your comfort level is stretched, simply ask, "May I leave thiswith you?" and hand them the catalog, the Scent Sample Sachet and the Lunch byCandlelight flyer.

You generally will not be booking the lunch office party at this time, but will receivecalls within a day or two or even weeks later. Encourage the interested person tohave a minimum of four people in attendance so the office will earn free products.Of course, if they have a whole lot of attendees, you will want to give them evenmore product.

Because no one person is offering the use of their home and solely doing the workof getting the party organized, it is a little different than the home party hostesswho is earning free product herself. The office is receiving several items foreveryone to share. This way everyone partakes in the free product.

They may invite co-workers, family, friends, etc., whatever their work place willaccommodate. If they expand beyond co-workers, they may choose to have theparty at a local restaurant instead. Have the organizer make a reservation for alarge table to accommodate everyone and all the candles. This is a nice venue, asyou now have the attention of the servers and other lunchers, as well.

If holding it at the office, encourage them to order in for lunch or if they brown bagit, have them bring a special dessert or appetizer to share. Some distributors havebrought the treat themselves for the group.

If permitted, light a jar so the scent does the work for you. Bring lots of candlesand bath and body product with you. To streamline the process you will want tocash and carry rather than take orders that you will have to deliver later. Peopletend to buy what you have on hand and will get excited about those scents.

Indicate you are having an "Office Special" and they will receive discounts forbuying in quantity. For instance, buying two jars will earn two dollars off of each.

Make a short presentation describing the candles, the company, the fundraisingprogram, and the Candle of the Month Club. Then let the candles go to work. It isnot necessary to do any games, as you want to keep the party to 45 minutes to anhour. Give everyone a catalog, your business card, an order form and ScentSample Sachet.

Make sure you have enough money to make change if people want to pay in cash, rather than by check. Also, have a calculator to add up all those sales.

Lesson #10: Recruiting - Team Building(Partnering with Others)

Now don’t get worried. This, again, is just ANOTHER option in this business. Somechoose to work this end of the business full time, others part-time, and others justtake it as it comes. Because in fact, this is a part of the business that will justnaturally happen by others watching you have fun with your business.

Why would you want to build a team? More income without putting in MORE hours!

In this industry, one of the benefits is getting paid on the efforts of others. Not a lotof effort is needed by any ONE distributor --- if each does just a little, look whatcan happen.

The Power of Five

Recruiting can mean freedom -- residual income or some call it 'walk-away' pay.

Recruiting can mean TIME freedom from the 'rat race' of a day to day job!

Recruiting can mean 'friendships'! My best friends are 'team members' I neverknew before

I began my network marketing career.

Take a look at what building a team can create for you and your family.

The POWER of Five

What if; 5 get 5 who get 5 and so on down to your SIXTH level?

After YOU signed up as a COTM (Candle of the Month) member -You sign up 5 COTM members(this would be your level 1 team and earn 10%)

And those 5 sign up 5 COTM members(your level 2 and you earn 5%)

Who sign up 5 COTM members

(your level 3 and you earn 5%)

Who then sign up 5 COTM members(your level 4 and you earn 5%)

And each of these sign up 5 COTM members(your level 5 and you earn 5%)

Page 26: Candle eBook

8/9/2019 Candle eBook

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/candle-ebook 26/31

LeadersOnFire Team Candle E-Course 11/08 | 26

And finally, all of these sign up 5 COTM members(your level 6 and you earn, again 10%)

now, let's say these folks buy ONLY the COTM--- which is $39.95 ---

What would your monthly income be? You do the math!5 Level 1

x 525 Level 2

x 5125 Level 3x 5

Level 4x 5

Level 5x 5

Level 6

Now, total up the numbers that fall on levels 1 - 6.

5+ 25 + 125 + _______ + ________ + _______ = __________

Now -- divide your total by 4 (assuming your team only reaches 1/4 this size)

Now -- if each team member purchases only the Candle of the Month at $39.95each month, what would your monthly group volume be?

Remember, you earn 10% on levels 1 and 6, then 5% on levels 2 - 5.

Would that make a significant lifestyle change for you and your family?

Disclaimer:This is a home based business opportunity. Income scenarios are not intended torepresent or guarantee that everyone will earn income of the stated amounts andmay not be typical of what you will experience. Rather they testify to the resultsthat have been experienced by team members who have devoted their time andwillingness to follow the guidance and training of our system. Each individual's

success will be determined by his or her desire, dedication, effort, ability andpersonal talent.

Now that you have an idea of the earning potential in this business throughrecruiting, who do you know that could use some extra money? Who do you knowthat loves candles and would have a ball retailing them?

This isn’t a high pressure business. As we said earlier, it is a “smell and sell” business. Put a scent sample in front of someone and say, “Do you love candles?” Or “Could you use some extra cash in your pocket?” Who doesn’t love candles andwho thinks they make enough?

Are you ready to give this a try?
