ESSAY. Explain in 100 words or less why you want to run for the position and your vision for AMS. I envision the Ateneo Mathematics Society (AMS) to be a home for people to share their appreciation of Mathematics. Together, we find ways of affecting our immediate community, the Ateneo, and the society through this common appreciation of Mathematics. In an effort to attain such a vision, I would like to run as Academics Department Head. I believe that as Academics Department Head, I will be able to help in making the organization a “home” by gearing projects towards the betterment of its members which in turn, will better equip them in helping others. PLEDGE I, Micole Vincent D. De Vera, , attest to the facts contained in this Certificate of Candidacy and in all other documents required by the Electoral Board of the Ateneo Mathematics Society (AMS). I thereby give permission to evaluate the facts contained in all the documents I have submitted to the AMS Electoral Board.
I swear to uphold the rules stipulated in the AMS Electoral Code and by the AMS Electoral Board with full awareness that the violation of the said rules would result to possible sanctions as stipulated in the AMS Electoral Code.
It is my sincere intention to promote a free, honest, and clean election.

III. PLATFORM You are allowed to have more than three (3) Main Points. USE PROPER FORMAT. Strictly ONE (1) LINE ONLY for each Main Point and NO MORE THAN SEVEN (7) LINES for the Details. Note: A sentence does not automatically correspond to one line. MAIN POINT 1: Member Care There is a lack of projects in the Academics Department which gear towards the members themselves. One particular aspect that needs to be looked into is how the organization can help in the academic pursuits of its members. In this regard, review classes can be arranged to help the members in preparing for their tests. Also, materials such as reviewers, notes, and reference books will be made more accessible. However, experience has taught me that math is best reviewed with a group. With this in mind, other than review classes, a study group system can be arranged. MAIN POINT 2: Member Relations One problem in the Department is that the members are not close with other members of the department. By building a tight-‐knit relationship between the members, the Department will more effectively execute its projects. To aid in building this relationship, I propose that monthly get-‐togethers be held. These get-‐togethers will not only be a time for the members to build relationships but it would also be an avenue to which the Department can reach out and involve its members. MAIN POINT 3: Member Involvement There is a need to involve the members in project-‐making and decision-‐making. In an effort to do this, I propose that the Department ask the members themselves what they need and how they think we can help. Taking off from this, feasible and appropriate measures can be made. By involving the members, the decisions and projects made will be more suitable to the needs of the members. That is, members will be enticed to involve themselves in the projects.
