 III. PLATFORM

You  are  allowed  to  have  more  than  three  (3)  Main  Points.  USE  PROPER  FORMAT.  Strictly  ONE  (1)  LINE  ONLY  for  each  Main  Point  and  NO  MORE  THAN  SEVEN  (7)  LINES  for  the  Details.    Note:  A  sentence  does  not  automatically  correspond  to  one  line.    MAIN  POINT  1:  Reinforce  and  Improve  Existing  Externalization  Efforts  and  Tie-‐ups  Given  the  good  relations  attained  with  the  Math  Department,  and  the  creation  of  the  Philippine  Society  of  Mathematics  Organizations,  I  want  to  continue  building  next  year’s  AMS  from  what  was  established  this  year.  As  our  party  envisions  an  AMS  that  fosters  its’  members  enthusiasm  for  Mathematics,  I  hope  to  be  able  to  keep  the  external  communications  so  as  to  provide  our  members  due  services,  with  the  help  of  the  Deputy  for  Special  Projects.  Moreover,  I  intend  to  look  into  unexplored  tie-‐ups  with  other  COA  Organizations,  be  it  from  a  cluster  we’ve  never  worked  with  before,  and  see  if  there  can  be  exchange  of  services  and  competencies  that  may  be  very  much  beneficial  and  useful  for  our  members.    MAIN  POINT  2:  Representative  and  Consultative  AMS  Aiming  for  a  bottom-‐up  approach  in  leadership,  I  wish  to  hear  and  consult  with  our  members  directly,  but  no  current  system  or  structure  enables  an  efficient  means  for  that.  Therefore,  I  want  to  regularly  meet  with  the  Sanggunian  reps  for  the  Math  Majors,  as  well  as  tap  into  key  active  and  inactive  people,  and  facilitate  meetings  where  they  voice  out  the  concerns  of  the  members.  The  idea  is  not  to  create  a  new  pool/structure,  but  build  relations  with  key  people.  Hopefully,  this  can  help  AMS  provide  more  relevant  and  practical  services  for  the  members.  Also,  as  the  effort  can  better  establish  internal  communication  lines,  I  hope  the  effort  can  help  the  members  integrate  their  college  lives  and  routines  into  AMS.    MAIN  POINT  3:  Transformative  Project  Management  System  In  planning  and  executing  our  projects,  I  want  the  approach  to  follow  the  Inform-‐Form-‐Transform  Cycle.  To  inform  is  more  than  just  informing  each  other  with  details  that  concern  the  future;  I  think  it  is  proper  to  aid  the  teams  in  informing  what  occurred  in  the  past,  through  relaying  of  relevant  evaluation  data.  Then,  to  form  is  first,  to  have  core  teams  go  beyond  mere  “updates  meeting”  and  establish  personal  relations  (with  the  help  of  MemRel),  and  second,  ensure  that  each  core  member  is  growing  in  his  own  leadership  style  (measure  through  ICs  and  feedback  system).  To  transform  then  is  to  be  able  to  uniquely  show  one’s  interpretation  of  “mathematical  excellence”  through  efficient  project  execution.    MAIN  POINT  4:  Synergized  and  Visible  ExeCom  The  last  thing  I  really  want  to  do  is  assist,  guide  and  support  the  ExeCom  members  into  enabling  their  vision  for  AMS,  and  I  want  to  do  this  by  synergizing  our  efforts.  I  intend  to  be  able  to  facilitate  good  communication,  and  help  connect  projects  and  visions  to  one  another.  Also,  to  provide  check  and  balance,  I  plan  to  promote  a  “feedback  culture”  and  devise  a  system  where  members  can  directly  voice  out  their  concerns  and  suggestions  for  the  ExeCom.  If  the  synergy  is  delivered,  then  I  think  visibility  can  follow.  I  hope  for  an  ExeCom  whose  concerns  are  not  only  those  under  his  supervision,  but  the  members  of  the  community  that  he  may  not  usually  interact  with–an  ExeCom  grounded  to  the  essential:  math  &  members.
