III. PLATFORM
You are allowed to have more than three (3) Main Points. USE PROPER FORMAT. Strictly ONE (1) LINE ONLY for each Main Point and NO MORE THAN SEVEN (7) LINES for the Details. Note: A sentence does not automatically correspond to one line. MAIN POINT 1: Empower MathCon and CMJ. Instead of being a second semester project, MathCon will be yearlong. The talks will be held once in every 4 to 6 weeks with 2 to 3 topics each. They will cover math applications in various (unexpected) fields. This project aims to unite the AMS members by providing them with avenues to explore and marvel on the beauty of Math together. Instead of being a pool, the Crazy Math Journal will be a yearlong project with at least 2 issues per semester. Trainings and workshops will also be given to the writers to better prepare them for the project. Every issue will be composed of at least 7 articles. MAIN POINT 2: MathApp Monthly Snack-‐outs Every month, MathApp members will gather to bond and get to know each other better. There will be lots of (math-‐related) games to increase the bond among members. This aims to make the MathApp members feel more at home in the department so that they will be more likely to participate in the projects throughout the school year. This is also a way of addressing one of the needs of AMS members, which is finding a family in AMS. Through these snack-‐outs, the members will feel being part of the AMS family and this will result to active members. MAIN POINT 3: Improve CampMath and MathSaya. Lately, CampMath and MathSaya were overly focused on group dynamics than on the talks about Math. This year, we’ll increase the number of talks in both projects and securing good speakers will be a priority. This will help in convincing AMS members to volunteer since if they find the talks interesting, they get to listen to the talks when they volunteer. The rationale behind this is that the main objective of both projects is for the participants to further appreciate Math, and they’ll be able to appreciate more in interesting talks than in group dynamics. Also, this modification can help entice AMS members to volunteer.
