Introduction

Candidiasis,  or  Candida,  refers  to  unhealthy  overgrowth  of  the  yeast,  Candida

albicans,  within  the  body.  For  the  purpose  of  simplicity,  only  the  term  Candida  is  going  to  be  used  throughout  this  document.  Candida  albicans  is  naturally-‐occurring

yeast  that  is  present  in  everyone.  In  healthy  people,  however,  it  is  kept  under  control  by  the  immune  system  and  confined  only  to  the  lower  intes?ne  and  the  skin  and,  in

women,  the  vagina.  To  a  large  degree,  this  confinement  process  is  due  to  healthy  and

essen?al  bacteria  in  the  gastrointes?nal  tract,  such  as  acidophilus  and  bifidobacteria.

When  the  popula?on  of  healthy  bacteria  is  disrupted,  for  instance  when  one  takes  an?bio?cs,  Candida  albicans  starts  to  spread  into  other  areas  of  the  body  once  it  is

allowed  to  pass  unchecked  through  the  intes?nal  walls  to  the  bloodstream.  When

this  happens,  Candida  albicans  begins  to  mutate  into  an

unhealthy  fungus  that  can  infect  a  body's  ?ssues  and  organs.  The

spread  of  Candida  albicans  into

areas  of  the  body  where  it  does  not  belong  is  termed  candidiasis,

or  candida.

An  es?mated  33  percent  of  all  Australians  are  affected  by  candida  and  the  numbers

are  growing;  nonetheless,  the  disease  remains  overlooked  by  most  conven?onal

physicians.  To  make  maGers  worse,  its  various  symptoms  can  easily  be  mistaken  for  other  disease  condi?ons.  By  contrast,  prac??oners  of  natural  and  alterna?ve

medicine  place  great  emphasis  in  helping  their  pa?ents  prevent  and  recover  from  candida.  Natural  treatments  for  candida  can  be  very  effec?ve  and  longer  las?ng  than

the  treatments  typically  offered  by  conven?onal  medicine.

In  common  cases  of  immune  deficiency,  Candida  albicans  can  cause  infec?on-‐figh?ng  cells,  such  as  T  cells,  to  be  destroyed,  crea?ng  an  environment  for  opportunis?c

infec?ons.  For  these  reasons,  prac??oners  of  alterna?ve  medicine  regard  candida  as  a  poten?ally  serious  health  threat  and  do  all  they  can  to  ensure  it  is  properly  dealt

with.

Symptoms  of  Candida

As  Candida  albicans  spreads  beyond  the  gastrointes?nal  tract  and  colonizes  in  other

areas  of  the  body,  it  produces  various  toxins.  These  toxins  can  impair  health  by

reducing  the  body's  supply  of  white  blood  cells,  which  are  needed  by  the  immune  system  to  properly  fend  off  infec?ous  bacteria,  viruses,  fungi,  and  other  pathogens.

Candida  albicans  toxins  also  inhibit  the  body's  ability  to  manufacture  an?oxidants,  including  glutathione,  an  enzyme  that  is  important  for  liver  detoxifica?on  and  cellular

respira?on.  As  a  result  of  these  nega?ve  effects  caused  by  the  unchecked  spread  of

Candida  albicans,  symptoms  of  candida  can  manifest  in  many  different  ways,  mimicking  other  disease  condi?ons  and  nega?vely  impac?ng  many  areas  of  your

body.

Among  the  most  common  symptoms  of  candida  are  both

airborne  and  food  allergies,  anxiety  and  depression,

chronic  fa?gue,  confusion  and/or  memory  problems,  eye  irrita?ons,  earache,  fungal  infec?ons  (athlete's  foot,  “jock

itch,”  ringworm)  which  recur  oRen,  gastrointes?nal  problems  (such  as  bloa?ng,  cramping,  cons?pa?on,

diarrhea,  flatulence,  and  heartburn),  headache  and

migraine,  heart  palpita?ons,  hives,  hyperac?vity,  irritability  and  mood  swings,  increased  suscep?bility  to  the  affects  of  alcohol,  loss  of  libido,  oral  and/or  vaginal

thrush,  painful  premenstrual  syndrome  (PMS),  respiratory  problems  (asthma,  coughing,  hay  fever,  lung  and/or  nasal  conges?on,  sinusi?s,  wheezing),  sexual

dysfunc?ons,  skin  problems  (acne,  rashes,  scaly  skin),  sleeping  problems,  and

vagini?s.

In  addi?on  to  the  above  symptoms,  candida  can  also  compromise  the  func?oning  of  the  central  nervous  system,  genitourinary  tract,  heart,  and  liver,  and  also  contribute

to  or  worsen  autoimmune  condi?ons  such  as  hashimoto  thyroidi?s,  rheumatoid

arthri?s,  crohns  disease,  AIDS.

Mental  and  Psychological  Symptoms:  Many  people  who  are  affected  by  candida  are  afflicted  by  feelings  that  they  are  “not  themselves,”  and/or  experience  other  mental

or  psychological  problems.  All  too  oRen,  such  pa?ents  are  told  by  conven?onal

physicians  that  there  is  nothing  wrong  with  them,  or  that  they  are  in  need  of  therapy

or  an?depressant  medica?ons,  neither  of  which  does  anything  to  address  their  candida.

Determining  if  you  have  Candida

Because  the  symptoms  of  candidiasis  closely  mimic  other  disease  condi?ons,  it  can  be  difficult  to  determine  if  you  have  yeast  overgrowth  or  not.    There  are  two  strong

indicators  for  candidiasis.    They  are:  1)  chronic,  lingering  symptoms  of  ill  health  that  drag  on  despite  prolonged

treatment  aGempts,  and

2)  complaints  that  are  unrelated  to  anything  specific.  Non-‐specific  complaints  of  poor  health  are  very  common

in  many  cases  of  candidiasis.

Go  through  the  Candida  ques?onnaire  included  in  this  plan.

If  you  have  answered  YES  to  some  of  the  ques?ons,  it  is  likely

that  you  have  a  degree  of  candidiasis.  Many  people  are  almost  posi?ve  that  candida  is  an  issue  for  them  due  to  both  personal

history  and  common  symptoms,  while  others  may  be  less  clear.

If  you  are  suspect,  but  unsure  if  your  condi?on  is  indeed  candida-‐related,  and

answering  the  ques?ons  did  not  clarify  it  for  you,  consider  undergoing  appropriate

tes?ng  before  beginning  the  Candida  Cleanse.  Candida  is  a  growing  menace  in  our  western  culture,  and  because  of  its  many  symptoms  and  variables,  it  is  oRen

misdiagnosed  and  untreated.

Candidiasis  may  very  well  be  the  cause  of  your  symptoms  even  if  you  answered  NO  to

many  of  the  above  ques?ons.  The  good  news  is  that  now  there  are  tes?ng

procedures  which  can  give  you  an  accurate  diagnosis.

One  reason  candida  is  so  pervasive  in  our  society  may  be  that,  although  there  is  no

direct  evidence,  it  appears  to  be  transmiGable.  Almost  half  of  all  healthy,  sexually-‐ac?ve  women,  and  one-‐third  of  all  pregnant  women  tested,  had  Candida  albicans.

This  may  indicate  that  sexual  ac?vity  itself  transmits  and  contributes  to  the  growth  of

candida,  and  that  candida  can  be  passed  to  newborns  through  the  birth  canal.

Tes5ng  for  Candidiasis

Conven?onal  physicians  generally  screen  for  candidiasis  using  tradi?onal  blood  tests.  These  tests  look  for  an?bodies  of  Candida  albicans  and  are  oRen  unreliable  since  we

all  have  some  degree  of  Candida  albicans  in  our  bodies,  and  therefore  also  have  an?bodies  for  it.

Although  holis?c  prac??oners  may  order  tradi?onal  lab  tests,  they  do  not  rely  on

them  exclusively.  In  addi?on  to  wan?ng  details  about  your  complete  medical  history,  alterna?ve  physicians  commonly  use  the  following  tests  to  accurately  determine  the

extent  of  a  candida  overgrowth:

• Live  Blood  Cell  Analysis,  can  pinpoint  candida  levels,  if  offered  by  an

experienced  technician.  Live  cell  offers  an  in-‐depth  view  of  your  blood,  which

reveals  indicators  not  only  for  candida  but  for  immune  health,  allergy  levels,  parasite  ac?vity,  immune  stress,  hydra?on  levels  and  liver  stress,  amongst

other  condi?ons.

• Electrodermal  screening  (EDS)  is  a  noninvasive  diagnos?c  technique  that  can

detect  the  presence  of  harmful  microorganisms  such  as  Candida  albicans,  as

well  as  all  of  the  issues  men?oned  above.

• Applied  Kinesiology:  is  a  form  of  muscle  tes?ng  where  the  body  is  ques?oned

for  the  presence  of  various  pathogens  via  a  strong  or  weak  muscle  response.

• Stool  analysis  can  help  determine  the  levels  of  good  bacteria  in  the

gastrointes?nal  tract,  as  well  as  other  diges?ve  markers  that  can  be  indica?ve

of  candidiasis.

Causes  of  CandidaCandida  is  largely  a  “modern-‐lifestyle”  condi?on,  meaning  that  it  was  virtually

nonexistent  as  recently  as  50  years  ago.  In  addi?on  to  an  over-‐reliance  on  an?bio?c

drugs,  which  oRen  begin  to  be  administered  in  childhood  at  an  increasingly  early  age,  other  so-‐called  modern  lifestyle  advances  such  as  birth  control  pills,  synthe?c

hormone  replacement  therapy  and  electro-‐magne?c  stress,  can  also  significantly

predispose  people  to  developing  candida.  What  follows  is  an  overview  of  the  primary  causes  of  and  contribu?ng  factors  to  candida.

Alcohol:  Alcohol,  because  it  contains  both  fermented  and  refined  sugars,  acts  as  a  food  source  that  unhealthy  bacteria  such  as  Candida  albicans  thrive  upon.  In

addi?on,  alcohol  diminishes  immune  func?on  and  can  also  create  hormonal  imbalances,  both  of  which  can  further  increase  the  risk  of  candida.

Over-‐consump?on  of  alcohol  can  impair  liver  func?on,  making  it  easier  for  toxins,  including  Candida  albicans,  to  spread  throughout  the  body.  Alcohol  in  excess  also

interferes  with  your  body's  ability  to  absorb  vital  nutrients  from  food,  further  worsening  the  problem.

An5bio5cs:  Many  holis?c  health  experts  consider  an?bio?cs  to  be  the  most  significant  cause  of  candida,  because  of  how  an?bio?c  drugs  indiscriminately  kill  off

both  “good”  and  “bad”  bacteria.  When  this  occurs,  it  makes  it  easier  for  bad  bacteria  such  as  Candida  albicans  to  flourish  and  eventually  spread  beyond  the

gastrointes?nal  tract.  This  is  especially  true  when  an?bio?c  treatments  destroy

beneficial  supplies  of  the  good  bacteria  acidophilus  and  Bifidobacteria,  which  help  to  control  yeast  overgrowth  by  producing  natural  an?bacterial  and  an?fungal

substances,  as  well  as  bio?n,  part  of  the  vitamin  B-‐complex.

Without  an  adequate  supply  of  bio?n  in  the  lower  intes?ne,  the  yeast  that  normally

occurs  there  begins  to  mutate  from  a  harmless  state  into  the  damaging  fungal  yeast  that  is  a  hallmark  of  candida.  From  its  growing  place  in  the  intes?nes,  Candida

albicans  extends  its  roots  into  the  intes?nal  walls  and  eventually  breaks  through,  allowing  entry  into  the  bloodstream.  ORen  its  waste  products,  par?ally  digested  food

par?cles,  and  other  toxins  enter  the  bloodstream  along  with  it,  further  compounding

the  symptoms  candida  can  cause.  Repeated  courses  of  an?bio?c  treatments  only  serve  to  make  the  problem  worse.

Note:  In  addi?on  to  an?bio?cs  that  may  be  prescribed  for  trea?ng  infec?ous  illness,

an?bio?cs  may  also  enter  your  system  in  the  form  of  acne  medica?ons  and  in

commercially  harvested  meats  and  related  animal  food  products,  since  commercially-‐raised  poultry  and  livestock  are  typically  laced  with  an?bio?cs,  as  well  as  steroids.

Birth  Control  Pills:  Nearly  four  out  of  every  ten  women  who  use  birth  control  pills

develop  vaginal  candida.  In  addi?on,  the  synthe?c  hormones  such  pills  contain  can

gradually  weaken  the  immune  system  if  used  regularly,  which,  in  turn,  can  increase  the  risk  of  opportunis?c  yeast  infec?ons  and  overgrowth.  Also,  the  synthe?c  estrogen

contained  in  birth  control  pills,  as  well  as  in  conven?onal  hormone  replacement  therapy  treatments,  contributes  to  an  environment  where  Candida  albicans  thrives.

Dietary  Factors:  The  standard  western  diet  is  another  significant  cause  of  candida.  In  addi?on  to  foods  high  in  simple  sugars  and  refined  carbohydrates,  foods  that  contain

molds  such  as  breads,  cheese  and  peanuts,  can  all  feed  Candida  albicans  and  help  it  spread.  Inorganic,  pasteurized  and  homogenized  milk  and  other  dairy  products  can

contribute  to  the  problem  of  yeast  overgrowth  because  of  both  the  lactose  they

contain  as  well  as  the  tendency  towards  food  allergies  dairy  processed  in  this  way  invites.  Lactose  is  yet  another  simple  sugar  that  Candida  albicans  thrives  upon.  Non-‐

organic  dairy  products  also  commonly  contain  traces  of  an?bio?cs.

Overall,  the  primary  dietary  factor  contribu8ng  to  candida  is  a  high  sugar  diet,

followed  by  a  diet  that  consists  predominantly  of  foods  that  cause  high  acidity  in  the

body.  Like  most  other  harmful  organisms,  Candida  albicans  cannot  live  for  long  in  an  internal  environment  that  is  rich  in  oxygen.  By  contrast,  an  acidic  environment  in  the

body  reduces  the  oxygen  supply,  making  it  much  easier  for  yeasts  and  other  pathogens  to  invade  cells,  ?ssues,  and  organs.

Environmental  Factors:  Home  or  work  environments  that  are  affected  by  mold  can  contribute  to  candida  and  other  forms  of  yeast  overgrowth,  as  can  living  in  areas  that

receive  lots  of  rain,  which  can  encourage  the  spread  of  molds.

Addi?onal  environmental  factors  that  can  contribute  to  candida  include

environmental  toxins,  pes?cides,  electro-‐magne?c  pollu?on  and  heavy  metals,  all  of  which  compromise  immune  func?on,  making  it  easier  for  candida  to  spread.  Mercury

amalgam  dental  fillings  can  also  encourage  a  candida  condi?on.  If  you  have  such  fillings  in  your  mouth,  consult  with  a  holis?c,  biological  den?st  to  have  them  safely

removed  and  replaced.

Other  Illnesses:  Other  illnesses  such  as  AIDS,  cancer,  and  diabetes,  can  greatly

increase  the  risk  of  candida.

Parasites:  Internal  parasites,  such  as  amoebas,  cestodes,  Giardia  lamblia,  and

nematodes,  can  both  cause  candida,  and  make  trea?ng  it  much  more  difficult.  For  this  reason,  holis?c  prac??oners  will  usually  test  for  parasites  if  their  pa?ents  fail  to

show  improvement  aRer  ongoing  treatment.  If  parasites  are  present,  they  need  to  be  eliminated  first,  before  candida  can  be  reversed.

Pregnancy:  During  and  following  pregnancy,  hormonal  changes  occur  in  a  woman's

body  such  as  estrogen  imbalances,  which  can  increase  the  risk  of  candida  occurring.  Candida  albicans  is  able  to  more  readily  flourish  and  spread  in  the  presence  of

improperly  balanced  estrogen  levels.

for  a  minimum  of  6-‐8  weeks.  The  consistency  factor  is  of  great  importance.  When  you  stray,  indulge,  or  skip  supplements,  the  yeast  can  quickly  mul?ply.  Start  this  cleanse

when  you  can  stay  on  it  for  the  recommended  ?me  frame  of  6-‐8  weeks.

The  Candida  Diet  is  a  clean,  simple  whole  foods  plan.  If  this  is  not  your  usual  fare,  you  may  experience  symptoms  of  detoxifica?on  as  a  result  of  the  lighter,  healthier  style

of  ea?ng.  At  some  point,  you  may  have  a  bad  day,  or  a  series  of  bad  days.  This  is  part  of  the  journey  with  releasing  candida.  Though  this  cleanse  is  designed  to  cause  you

the  very  least  amount  of  discomfort,  you  may  experience  what  is  commonly  called

"die  off",  when  a  large  amount  of  yeast  is  being  killed  and  eliminated.  Hidden  behind

the  annoying  symptoms  oRen  described  as  feeling  blah  or  sluggish,  "off  days"  are  actually  your  body's  most  produc?ve  ?me  during  the  cleanse.

Vegetarians  and  vegans

Vegetarians  or  vegans  can  do  the  Candida  Diet  with  ease  and  flare.  Applying  a  bit  of  crea?vity,  one  can  eat  quite  well,  and  have  great  results.  Use  soaked  and  preferably

sprouted  beans,  legumes,  nuts  and  seeds,  along  with  soaked,  cooked  grains,  and  small  amounts  of  tofu  and  tempeh  for  grounding  and  protein.  If  you  eat  eggs,  your

op?ons  are  more  diverse;  and  if  raw  dairy  works  for  you,  kefir  and  yogurt  add  great

flavour  and  variety  to  the  food  plan.

Eat  more  dark  leafy  greens  such  as  kale  and  collards,  sea  vegetables  and  fermented

foods,  to  take  the  place  of  empty  carbohydrates  you  may  have  previously  used  as  tummy  fillers.  Veggie  bean  soups,  bowls  of  steamed  vegetables  and  greens,  quinoa

and  huge  salads  will  be  your  main  meals,  as  will  simple  s?r-‐fried  veggies  and  fresh

green  vegetable  juices.  The  ea?ng  style  is  clean,  light  and  abundant,  with  an  emphasis  on  vegetables,  rather  than  grains.

Food  Rota5on  and  Food  AllergiesSince  many  of  us  are  affected  by  food  allergies,  especially  in  the  case  of  candida

overgrowth,  it  is  important  to  eat  a  wide  variety  of  foods.  Rota8on  is  the  key.  Making

a  big  pot  of  food  might  seem  like  a  prac?cal  solu?on  to  the  food  prep  challenge,  and  may  even  be  recommended  in  other  candida  protocols;  however,  we  ask  you  to

refrain  from  this  style  of  cooking  if  at  all  possible.  Instead,  prepare  small  quan??es  of  no  more  than  two

meals.  Rotate  your  food  selec?on  as  best  you  can,

ideally  allowing  two  or  three  days  to  pass  before  ea?ng  that  same  food  again.  Devising  a  weekly  menu

plan  and  buying  all  ingredients  ahead  of  ?me  may  help  make  food  rota?on  more  manageable.

How  to  Prepare  Healthy  Food

Eat  raw,  lightly-‐steamed,  water-‐sauteed,  s?r-‐fried  or  pressure-‐cooked  foods,  soaked  cooked  grains,  soups,  fresh  vegetable  juices,  poached,  baked  or  lightly  grilled  foods,

eggs,  sunny  side  up  style,  cooked  in  coconut  oil  or  ghee,  preferably  with  soR  yolks,  and  generous  por?ons  of  well-‐washed,  fresh  leafy  greens  for  salads.  Experiment  with

new,  clean  crea?ve  cooking  styles.  Pressure  cooking  is  the  fastest  way  to  make  easy-‐

to-‐digest,  highly  nutri?ous,  one-‐pot  meals.  Refrain  from  all  deep-‐fried,  charbroiled  or  blackened  grilled  foods  during  this  and  all  cleanses.

Foods to Eat and Foods to Avoid

The  Candida  Cleanse  is  a  vegetable-‐based  diet,  which  offers  an  abundant  selec?on  of  powerful  healing  foods.  You  should  not  experience  hunger  with  this  or  any  well

thought-‐out  cleansing  diet;  yet,  you  may  go  through  a  period  of  withdrawal  if  you  are

accustomed  to  ea?ng  flour,  sugar,  fast  or  processed  food,  or  many  starch-‐based  foods.  On  the  Candida  Diet  you  will  enjoy  fresh,  organic  produce  turned  into

boun?ful  salads,  generous  por?ons  of  steamed  veggies,  soups,  high-‐quality  protein  sources  such  as  organic,  free-‐range,  grass-‐fed  and  finished  beef  and  bison,  organic

poultry,  wild-‐caught  fish,  free-‐range  organic  eggs,  a  wide  variety  of  beans  and

legumes,  along  with  plenty  of  organic  soaked  nuts  and  seeds,  sea  vegetables  of  all  kinds,  cultured  foods  such  as  fermented  vegetables,  homemade  raw  milk  yogurt,

kefir,  and  healthy  fats  such  as  virgin  coconut  oil,  non-‐sweet  fruits  such  as  avocado  and  cucumbers,  a  selec?on  of  non-‐mucus  producing  whole  grains  such  as  quinoa  and

buckwheat,  and  a  few  select  non-‐sweet  fruits.  Addi?onally  you  can  have  candida-‐safe

smoothies,  fresh  green  vegetable  juices,  homemade  nut  milks  and  large  quan??es  of  pure  water  and  herbal  teas.

Foods  that  must  be  avoided  are:  All  sugar  products;  commercially  produced  flesh  foods  such  as  inorganic  meats  and  poultry,  starchy  vegetables  such  as  potatoes,  fried

foods,  flour  and  products  made  from  flour  or  flour  deriva?ves.  Pork  is  not  allowed  in

the  Candida  Cleanse  whatsoever,  even  if  it  is  organic.

What  to  EatPlease  buy  organic  foods  during  cleansing,  whenever  possible.  This  allows  you  to  minimize  the  intake  of  new  toxins  and  chemicals  while  you  are  releasing  old  toxins

and  candida.

Include  the  following  foods  in  your  diet  with  unabashed  enthusiasm  for  the  first  6-‐8

weeks:

Vegetables:  Ea?ng  a  wide  variety  from  an  abundant  selec?on  is  the  key  to  successful

cleansing  of  any  kind.  Eat  all  and  any  types  of  vegetables  in  the  quan??es  you  desire  with  the

only  excep?ons  being  mushrooms,  corn  kernels,

peas,  parsnips,  white  and  sweet  potatoes,  and  canned,  processed  or  deep-‐fried  vegetables.

Avoid  ea?ng  bowls  of  steamed  beets  and  carrots.  Small  quan??es  of  beets  and  carrots  in  a  soup  or  fresh  vegetable  juice  are  fine.  Live  cultured,  fermented

vegetables  are  encouraged.  Wild  fermenta8on,  by  Sandor  Katz,  is  a  great  book  on

cultured  vegetables.

Sea  Vegetables:  Although  unfamiliar  to  many  of  us,  sea  vegetables  are  delicious

addi?ons  to  the  Candida  Diet.  When  you  are  hungry  for  variety,  they  sa?sfy,  and  will  very  likely  be  adopted  as  a  permanent  staple  in  your  diet.  If  you  have  never  prepared

arame,  hijiki,  dulse,  kelp,  laver,  wakameor  kombu,  you  are  in  for  a  fun  surprise.  Clear

instruc?ons  are  included  in  the  recipe  sec?on.  The  book  Sea  Vegetable  Celebra8on,  by  ShepErhart&  Leslie  Cerier,  is  one  of  our  favorite  resources  for  recipes  and

informa?on  about  sea  veggies.

Sweet  Fruit:  For  the  first  6-‐8  weeks  of  this  cleanse,  choose  from  grapefruit,  tart  green

apples,  or  unsweetened  berries;  enjoy  1-‐2  servings  of  fruit  per  day.  Berries  are  best

blended  into  a  Candida  Safe  Smoothie.  ARer  the  12-‐week  mark,  you  can  gradually  introduce  a  full  selec?on  of  fresh  fruit.  Lemons  and  limes  may  be  used  freely  at  any

?me.

Non-‐Sweet  Fruit:  Avocados,  olives  packed  in  olive  oil  or  water  that  contains  no

vinegar  are  allowed.  Fresh,  not  canned,  tomatoes,  and  cucumbers  are  allowed.

Sweeteners  and  Treats:  Stevia  is  the  main  sweetener  used  in  candida  cleansing.  Mesquite  meal  can  be  enjoyed  for  its  subtle,  smoky  sweet  taste.  Raw  cacao,  whole

goji  berries,  green  apples  with  raw  nut  buGer,  kudzu  or  agar  puddings,  and  whey  and  tahini  dips  are  all  delighsul  candida  cleansing  treats.  See  recipe  sec?on  for  candida-‐

tailored  dessert  ideas.

Protein:  Choose  organic  whenever  possible.  Vary  your  selec?ons  from  the  following  list:  free-‐range  poultry,  buffalo,  lamb,  deep-‐water,  wild-‐caught  ocean  fish  that  have

fins  and  scales.  Omit  farm-‐raised  fish.  Choose  organic  eggs.  Moderate  amounts  of  tempeh,  tofu,  legumes  and  beans  can  be  eaten  for  variety  or  as  a  protein  source  for

vegetarians  and  vegans.  Vegan  raw  foodists  will  depend  primarily  on  soaked  nuts,

seeds,  coconut,  and  sea  and  land  vegetables.

Grains:You  may  eat  the  following  whole  grains  unless  you  are  allergic.Quinoa,

buckwheat,  millet,  amaranth  and  teff  can  be  eaten  and  are  especially  important  for  vegetarians  and  vegans.  Long  grain  or  Basma?  brown  rice  may  be  included  aRer  the

ini?al  6-‐8  weeks.  Occasionally  blue  corn,  in  the  form  of  organic  tor?llas  or  baked

tor?lla  chips,  may  be  enjoyed  in  modera?on.

Beans  and  Legumes  must  be  pre-‐soaked,  preferably  overnight,  and  cooked  with  sea

vegetables  in  a  stainless  steel  pressure  cooker.  The  best  choices  include  black,  white,  adzuki,  lima,  red  or  French  green  len?ls,  and  split  peas.

Nuts  and  Seeds:  Use  raw,  organic  nuts  and  seeds.  For  easiest  diges?on,  especially

during  this  cleanse,  be  sure  to  soak  your  nuts  and  seeds  overnight  in  purified  water,  rinse  the  following  morning,  and  then  drain.  Choose  from  almonds,  walnuts,  pecans,

cashews,  and  hazelnuts,  as  well  as  pumpkin,  sunflower,  and  hemp  seeds.  Fresh  coconut  is  fine,  especially  if  the  milk  is  cultured  into  kefir.  Raw,  un-‐roasted  almond  or

sunflower  buGer  and  tahini  may  be  enjoyed  in  modera?on.

Healthy  Fats  and  Oils:  Extra  virgin  olive  oil,  high  lignin  flaxseed  oil,  raw  virgin  coconut  oil,  hemp  and  sesame  seed  oil  are  the  recommended  oils  to  eat  during  and  aRer  the

Candida  Cleanse.

Dairy  Products:  Organic,  cultured  dairy  products  such  as  plain,  un-‐sweetened  yogurt

or  kefir,  preferably  made  from  raw  organic  goat  or  cow's  milk,  are  allowed.  Unless

you  are  allergic,  you  can  have  up  to  one  cup,  every  third  day.  Small  amounts,  1-‐2  ounces  of  raw  goat  or  sheep's  milk  cheeses  including  raw  feta  cheese,  may  be

enjoyed  aRer  the  first  6-‐8  weeks.

Milks:  Fresh  milk  from  young  coconuts,  unsweetened  or  stevia-‐sweetened  homemade  nut  or  seed  milks  such  as  almond  or  sunflower  milk,  or  raw  cow  or  goat's

milk  are  included  in  the  diet.

Fresh  Juices:  Green  vegetable  juice  is  highly  recommended.  With  a  juicer,  make  fresh

vegetable  juices  using  only  one  carrot,  beet  or  green  apple  to  sweeten,  if  necessary.  Use

cucumbers,  celery,  or  romaine  as  your

vegetable  juice  base.

Smoothies:  Candida  safe  smoothies  can  be

made  using  the  following  combina?on  of  ingredients:  apples,  berries,  homemade  almond  milk,  yogurt  or  kefir,  and  enough  water  to  blend.  Add  organic  raw  whey

protein  powder,  high  lignin  flaxseed  oil,  and  your  choice  of  green  powder.

Beverages:  In  addi?on  to  drinking  half  your  body  weight  in  ounces  of  purified  water  daily,  you  may  enjoy  stevia-‐sweetened  lemonade  or  limeade,  herbal  teas  with  lemon

and/or  stevia,  and  warm  vegetable  broths.

Condiments:  The  healthy  oils  listed  above  can  be  drizzled  on  foods  to  enhance  flavor

and  are  especially  tasty  when  used  in  combina?on  with  the  following  condiments:

sea  salt,  cayenne  pepper,  organic  fresh  and  dried  herbs  and  spices  without  addi?ves  or  fillers,  raw  apple  cider  vinegar,  fresh  lemon  and  lime  juice.  In  addi?on,  homemade

pesto  without  the  cheese,  fresh  raw  salsa,  and  salad  dressings  all  add  great  flavor  to  simple  grain,  vegetable  and  salad  meals.

Water:  Water  is  an  essen?al  element  of  life  and  is  of  the  highest  importance  while

undergoing  any  cleansing  protocol.  Please  note  that  your  cells  cannot  properly  flush  out  candida  without  adequate  water  intake.  Drink  at  least  half  your  weight  in  ounces

of  pure  water  daily.

for  you  to  obtain  the  suggested  products.  It  is  best  to  be  guided  by  your  prac??oner

here.

Products:  • Oil  of  Oregano• Garlic    or  Garlic  and  Ginger• An?-‐candida/an?-‐parasi?c  Herbs  or

they  help  to  colonize  the  gut  with  the  friendly  flora  that  compete  for  space  in  the  intes?ne  with  the  wicked  Candida.

A  note  on  Oregano  Oil  capsules:  Oregano  is  quite  strong.  Begin  slowly  with  Oregano  oil,  as  it  is  extremely  strong  tas?ng,  and  may  cause  indiges?on.  Begin  with  one

capsule  or  five  drops  of  the  essen?al  oil  placed  into  an  empty  gela?n  or  veggie  cap

Choose  diges5ve  enzymes  that  include  amylase  and  cellulose,  and  if  need  be,  HCL,  betaine  hydrochloric  acid.

Enjoy  all  and  any  herbal  teas,  especially  ginger.

A  general  nutri?onal  supplement  program  is  also  advised,  including,  though  not  limited  to  Vitamin  A,  beta-‐carotene,  all  B-‐complex  vitamins,  vitamin,  C,  vitamin  E,

calcium,  chromium,  magnesium,  selenium,  and  zinc.  Essen?al  faGy  acids  are  recommended,  as  is  the  amino  acid  taurine.

Addi5onal  complementary  therapies  that  are  especially  valuable  while  candida

cleansing  include  far  infrared  (FIR)  saunas  and  colonics,  gevng  more  exercise  and  movement,  dry  brush  self-‐massage,  and  therapies  such  as  guided  visualiza?on,

acupuncture,  and  various  forms  of  body  work  to  support  the  release  of  toxins  during  cleansing.  These  complimentary  therapies  feel  good  and  add  great  value  when

cleansing.

Colon  hydrotherapy  involves  deep  colonic  water  flushes  used  to  clean  and  detoxify  the  lower  intes?ne  and  to  aid  in  the  rebalancing  of  intes?nal  flora.  The  colon,  along

with  the  skin,  kidneys,  and  lungs,  is  a  major  organ  for  elimina?ng  body  waste.  Healthy  func?oning  of  the  colon  is  essen?al  for  good  diges?on  and  proper  absorp?on  of

nutrients.

Other  Treatments:Vaginal:

• 10  drops  of  Tea  Tree  oil  soaked  into  a  tampon,  inserted  overnight• Douche  (internal  washing)  vagina  with  10ml  apple  cider  vinegar  and  probio?cs

When  To  Re-‐introduce  Other  Foods

When  you  are  free  from  symptoms,  and  have  been  retested  to  determine  if  you  are  free  from  Candida,  you  can  begin  reintroducing  a  few  foods  slowly.    The  last  ones  to

add  should  be  sugar,  yeast,  white  bread,  wheat,  vinegar,  and  mushrooms.

If  you  have  experienced  quite  severe  symptoms,  it  may  be  necessary  for  you  to  stay

on  the  Candida  Buster  Program  for  a  number  of  months,  even  though  your  symptoms  seem  to  have  decreased  or  disappeared.  Please  check  with  your

The  more  thoroughly  you  are  able  to  stay  on  this  diet,  the  faster  you  can  eliminate  excess  Candida.  However,  it  is  beGer  to  be  on  a  modified  diet  than  on  no  diet  at  all.  If

the  diet  for  a  longer  period  of  ?me.  Some  pa?ents  would  rather  eat  sugar  or  have  a  glass  of  wine  occasionally  even  though  it  delays  elimina?on  of  Candida  and  slows

recovery  significantly.
