Writing Workshops with visiting author illustrator Susan Berren were a hit with the children! Ex-army and inspired by her

own stories and the desire to get reluctant readers to read and write, Susan taught the children to expand, exaggerate and illustrate ideas to create amazing stories. She has donated a set of her books to the Library and there is a line up to be the first to borrow them. Ride Safely 2 School happening this Friday, is a reminder to all children to learn the safety rules when riding their bike, wear a helmet and to do a regular maintenance check on their bike. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult if they have to ride on the road. Library books are to be read and returned each week so new and exciting reading adventures continue to take place. Premiers Reading Challenge (PRC) is up and running, that means 20 books to be read and recorded by the end of August; 1 book from the PRC list per week! Every child can achieve that! Pambula Public Dental Clinic is a free dental clinic that operates fulltime for both emergencies and comprehensive dental care. This clinic is for all children in the region eligible on a current Medicare card. Located at the Pambula Community Health Centre, 1A Merimbola Street, Pambula. Ph: 1800 450 046.

Student Invoices: This year we have purchased the following texts for students: Invoice 1 Junior Classes: iMaths, Soundwaves and Visiting performance. Senior Classes iMaths, Soundwaves, Practising Maths. The cost to families is 50% of the cost of these texts. Funds from our budget will subsidise each child to access the resources as we are mindful that families are finding it tough at this time. Invoice 2 is for Voluntary contribution. All families are invited to pay voluntary annual school contribution, $20 per child or $38 per family. The annual school contribution will fund technology and home reading resources for classes. Invoices will be sent home in the next few weeks and payments can be made online (POP) or through the Office. P&C Report P&C would like to thank the volunteers for the P&C BBQ Market. If each family is able to support one Market BBQ during the year it will build a greater sense of community. Please contact the school when you can help. April Markets requires 4 more parent helpers. Parent Meetings to support Student Goals Three-way meetings to include parents, students and teachers are important for every child. Please contact the school to organise a time to meet with your child’s teacher. Parliament Report Easter Raffle will be drawn on Wednesday 8th April at the end of term Assembly, straight after our Easter Hat Parade. Stage 3 children and staff are asked to donate Easter egg prizes. Raffle tickets will be sent out next week. You will receive one book per family. Each book needs to be accounted for, so if raffle tickets are not sold they are to be returned to the office. Additional books can be requested through the front office. Proceeds from the raffle will go towards the Stage 3 camp to Jindabyne at the end of the year. Peer Support Groups will resume on Tuesday to develop teams where there is a sense of belonging, care and responsibility as well as building leadership skills.

Listening to visiting author illustrator Susan Berren

1W Class Report We have had lots of fantastic opportunities with a visit from the author Susan Berran and the T4L team. We used Virtual Reality goggles to travel into space, swim in the ocean, explore Ancient Egypt and look inside a human body! K/1 have been working so hard practising our reading and writing skills during L3 and we are building on a number skills. This week we are looking at subtraction in Maths. In Art, we studied the artist Vincent Van Gogh and were inspired to paint beautiful sunflowers. Thank you so much for your support with home readers and don't forget Library is on every Wednesday. Miss Watchers Awards: Emily, Cody & Rachael - working consistently hard in all areas Maggie - joining in with lots of activities 2M Class Report On Tuesday Susan Berran, author of the Freaky Series and lots of other kid’s books, visited our school. She has very generously donated a number of books to our library. The children really enjoyed listening to her stories and learning to draw “Fluff Butt!” We also had a visit from the T4L (technology for learning) team. The 2M children made robots using Lego Wedo. Have you seen the pictures on seesaw? If you haven’t had a chance to get the app yet, you will find the instructions and the unique QRL for your child attached to this newsletter. You can get this app on any smart phone or sign in on a computer to see what your child has been up to in 2M. Great effort with the home readers and handwriting homework! Thank you. If you can spend a moment checking your child is forming the letters in the correct way that would be a big help (directions are on the sheet – a dot for where to start and arrows to indicate correct sequence). Correct letter formation really helps with learning running writing in year 3 and helps children write quickly and legibly (very important for note taking and exams in high school). Have a great week everyone! Mrs Moore

Awards: Jimmy – Fantastic work in handwriting Jahla – Excellent work in all areas Emma – Outstanding writing Peyton – Caring for others and playing responsibly
