  • Canadian Grading System Example for Size All Canadian grades require that tomatoes be sized. Canada No. 1 Have a minimum diameter of 51 mm (2 inches), and when packed in a closed package have, with the exception of 1 specimen a maximum variation in diameter of 25.4 mm (1 inch); or Have a minimum diameter of 38.1 mm (1 inches) and a maximum diameter of 51 mm (2 inches) and are packed in a package on which is marked the words "Small" or 38 mm to 51 mm (1 inches to 2 inches); or In the case of pear type and plum type tomatoes, have a minimum diameter of 31.8 mm (1 1/4 inches). Canada No. 2 Have a minimum diameter of 44.5 mm (1 3/4 inches) in the case of other than pear and plum type tomatoes; or Have a minimum diameter of 31.8 mm (1 1/4 inches) in the case of pear type and plum type tomatoes.
