Sandblast - Nickel or Gold Plated

Die struck work pieces are sandblasted over their entire surface. The raised portions (ie. lettering and design lines) are then polishedleaving the recessed area (background) with an ultrafine matte finish for contrast. This can then be further enhanced with a bright nickelplate or 24 kt gold "flashing" for a classic look at a very low price.

Oxidized (antique) in Brass or Copper Finishes

Die struck work pieces are cleaned, sometimespre-polished, and "aged" with various oxidizingor blackening agents. The work piece is thenbuffed or wet-pumice polished fora rich antique finish.

Colour Filled (hard enamel) in gold and nickel plated

Vitreous hard enamel (ie. glass fused to metal) is thetraditional method of adding colour to lapel pins and badges. This method involves 21 steps, the labour cost of which, although producing the ultimate in durability, has paved the way for more modern finishesin paints and epoxies.

Colour Filled (paint, glaze & epoxy)

All paint-only, paint and glaze and/or full epoxy lapel pins start out the same way as enameled lapel pins. The backing (ie. push pin or pinback) however, is applied and the pin is polished straight out of the press room. They are then cleaned and electroplated before any colouringprocess is done. Paints or epoxies are then applied, and a clearepoxy is then added over top (all by hand). The pins are then allowed to set for 48 hrs beforepackaging and shipping.
