    Canada Launch FAQsUppercase Living will open for business in Canada beginning March 1, 2010, and we couldnt be more excited! Weexpect our transition to doing business internationally to be smooth and simple, given that business in Canada will

    function essentially the same way it does in the United States. US Demonstrators will be able to sell and recruit inCanada and vice versa. Canadian Demonstrators will also order from the same Idea Catalog, use US pricing, enjoyuniform compensation and commission structures, and access the same version of UL Express.

    Although the vast majority of business practices will be the same in both countries, there are a few variations, such asshipping rates and times, you will need to be aware of. Weve provided the following timeline and FAQs to help yound answers to your questions. As you prepare to expand your business to Canada, please review this document inits entirety, paying special attention to the section on transition since policies in a few instances will change with theof cial launch on March 1.

    recruiting1. Can a Demonstrator in the US recruit cross-border

    and add Canadian Demonstrators to her downline?

    Yes. US Demonstrators can recruit CanadianDemonstrators into their current (or future)downlines and will not need to establish a separatedownline for Canadian Demonstrators.

    2. Can a Demonstrator in Canada recruit cross-

    border and add US Demonstrators to her downline?

    Yes. Canadian Demonstrators can recruit USDemonstrators into their current (or future)downlines and will not need to establish aseparate downline for US Demonstrators.

    3. Are there different starter kits for US and

    Canadian Demonstrators?

    No. Canadian Demonstrators will purchase thesame starter kits as US Demonstrators for thesame price in US dollars.

    4. Is there a different Demonstrator Agreement for

    US and Canadian Demonstrators?

    No. An updated Demonstrator Agreement will beused for both US and Canadian Demonstrators.New Demonstrators will sign the new agreementat enrollment; current Demonstrators will sign thenew agreement on their renewal date.

    5. Does Uppercase Living impose any additional fees

    for Demonstrators transacting business in Canada?

    No. Other than revised shipping rates speci c

    to Canada (see shipping FAQs), there are noadditional fees imposed by Uppercase Living. AllDemonstrators are subject to an annual renewalfee and can choose to upgrade to a Premium

    Demonstrator Website at an additional cost.

    Quebec

    6. Can a person living in Quebec enroll as an

    Uppercase Living Demonstrator?

    No. At this time, people living in Quebec cannotbecome Demonstrators.

    selling7. Is there a Canadian version of the Uppercase

    Living Idea Catalog?

    No. Canadian and US Demonstrators will use thesame catalog. Prices will be stated in US dollars only.

    8. Are the same products available in Canada

    and the US?

    Yes. The catalog product offering will be the samefor both the US and Canada. In a limited number of circumstances, future availability may be impactedby customs regulations.

    9. Do Canadian Demonstrators pay for orders

    differently than Demonstrators in the US?

    No, however credit cards are the only accepted

    method of payment. Canadian Demonstratorsalso do not currently have the option to pay byelectronic check.

    10. Will the ordering process in UL Express be

    different for Demonstrators in Canada?

    No. The process for submitting orders is the samefor both US and Canadian Demonstrators.

    11. How will Demonstrators determine the

    appropriate rate for calculating sales tax on orders

    being shipped to Canada? A tax rate lookup function tool is available inUL Express. As with orders shipping to the US,Demonstrators will verify the appropriate ratebased on the ship-to address in the appropriatecountry.

    12. Are business licenses required for Canadian

    Demonstrators or US Demonstrators doing business

    in Canada?

    Check with your local municipal and provincial

    authorities to determine if a business licenseis required.

    US demonstrators selling toCanadian customers13. Can a US Demonstrator sell to customers

    in Canada?

    Yes.

    14. Can a US Demonstrator hold Open Houses

    in Canada?

    Yes. However, there may be US and/or Canadiantax implications for US Demonstrators holdingOpen Houses in Canada. Any US Demonstrator

    wishing to do so should rst consult her tax

    advisor for more information. Please note that as with all offerings, any product offered by a USDemonstrator in Canada is offered in her owncapacity and not on behalf of Uppercase Living.

    15. Can Demonstrators living in the US participate

    in a craft fair, seasonal boutique, or other

    temporary event in Canada?

    Yes. However, there may be US and/or Canadiantax implications for US Demonstrators participatingin sales events in Canada. Any US Demonstrator

    wishing to do so should rst consult her tax

    advisor for more information. Please note that as with all offerings, any product offered by a USDemonstrator in Canada is offered in her own

    capacity and not on behalf of Uppercase Living.

    16. What sales taxes are applicable in Canada?

    The Canadian government and its provinces/ territories require the collection of Provincial Sales

    Taxes (PST/HST) and/or Goods and Services Taxes(GST) on all orders shipped to Canada. UppercaseLiving will continue to remit taxes on behalf of the Demonstrator, just as we currently do in the US.To help with the determination of rates, UppercaseLiving has provided a tax rate lookup function in

    UL Express.

    17. Is the Customer Right to Cancel policy different

    for the US and Canada?

    Yes. In the US, customers have a 3-day right tocancel. Canadian customers have a 10-day rightto cancel.

    18. Is Quebec included in Uppercase Livings

    Canadian expansion?

    No. At this time, Uppercase Living will not besupporting the French language. As a result, we arenot permitted to recruit in or ship orders to Quebec.

    19. Are Uppercase Living Idea Catalogs and

    business supplies available in French?

    No. This may be re-considered at a future time.

    compensation20. Is the compensation plan different for

    Demonstrators in Canada?

    No. The compensation plan is the same for theUS and Canada, with all commissions paid in USdollars. Currency conversions, if necessary, will becompleted by the Demonstrators banks.

    21. Are quarterly sales minimums different for

    Canadian Demonstrators?

    No. Quarterly sales minimums are the samefor Demonstrators in the US and Canada andrepresent sales in US dollars.

    22. Are commissions paid differently to US and

    Canadian Demonstrators?

    Yes. Canadian Demonstrators currently receivecommissions via live checks received in the mailrather than direct deposit into their banks.

    23. What income tax forms will Canadian

    Demonstrators receive?

    Canadian Demonstrators will receive a T4A slipannually when earnings are over CAN $500. Slipsare mailed on or before the date required by law.

    use of Canadian credit cards when purchasing

    products or supplies?

    No. Uppercase Living will not charge anyadditional fees when accepting Canadian creditcards. However, the issuing bank may charge

    international processing and/or exchange fees.Please note that the cardholder bears responsibilityto pay any fees made by the issuing bank.

    25. How will Demonstrators calculate Canadian

    dollar equivalents of US prices if requested by

    Canadian customers?

    Uppercase Living provides an exchange rate/ currency conversion reference in UL Express tohelp Demonstrators provide customers with anapproximate Canadian dollar equivalent. Please

    note there may be slight differences in exchangerates between source banks and between thetime Demonstrators provide pricing informationto customers and when orders are submitted inUL Express.

    26. What effect will the exchange rate have onHostess Rewards?

    The Uppercase Living Hostess Rewards program will work the same way for Canadian Hostessesas they do for the US. All Hostess Rewards will becalculated in US dollars and will be redeemablefor UL product priced in US dollars.

    different for Canada?No. The referral process and quali cations

    are the same for both the US and Canada andmay, in certain cases, cross country lines justas it currently crosses state lines within theUS. (Demonstrators living in the US may getCanadian referrals, and Demonstrators living inCanada may get US referrals.)

    28. Can Canadian Demonstrators earn Living

    Reward credits?

    Yes. Living Reward credits are earned byCanadian Demonstrators just as they are byDemonstrators in the US. These credits have aone-to-one correlation with US dollar values toensure that all Demonstrators have an equivalentnumber of credits for product or supply purchases.

    29. Do Canadian Demonstrators participate in the

    same Annual Awards and Recognition program as

    US Demonstrators?

    Yes. Canadian Demonstrators will participate in thesame Annual Awards and Recognition program.

    Award programs will be based on and determined

    by sales in US dollars.

    30. Are promotions and incentives the same in the

    US and Canada?

    In most cases, yes, but promotions and incentivesmay vary on occasion.

    31. Is there a different UpStart! Program for

    Canadian Demonstrators?

    No. Canadian Demonstrators will participate inthe same UpStart! Program as US Demonstrators.

    32. Is there a different Living Rewards Trip

    Incentive for Canadian Demonstrators?

    No. Canadian Demonstrators will participate inthe same Living Rewards Trip Incentive as USDemonstrators. Sales points are in US dollars.

    33. Is there a different Double Up program

    in Canada?

    No. Canadian Hostesses participate in the sameDouble Up program as those in the US. DoubleUp amounts are based on sales in US dollars andare added to Open House totals in US dollars.

    center in Canada?

    No. Canadian orders are ful lled and shipped

    from the US distribution center.

    35. What shipping charges apply to orders being

    shipped to Canada?

    All orders are subject to shipping charges basedon the product subtotal. The charges for ordersbeing shipped into Canada are 20% or $15.00 US,

    whichever is greater.

    Uppercase Living does not pro t from shipping

    charges. Charges represent an accumulation of fees imposed on the company as outlined below:

    Governmental registration and contract feesfor the shipment of products into Canada

    Duties and tariffs required for the importation

    of Uppercase Living product into Canada

    Transport fees, including:

    1. Brokerage fees

    2. Transportation from the US distributioncenter to the Canadian border

    36. Are Open House orders shipped 2-day air

    to Canada?No. All orders being shipped into Canada are sentvia ground.

    37. What is the approximate shipping time for

    orders delivered to Canadian addresses?

    From the time of submission, we estimate ordersshipping to Canada will take approximately 10 to20 business days to be delivered (5 to 10 businessdays for processing and 5 to 10 business daysfor delivery).

    38. Can Open House orders be split into

    customer orders that are shipped to both the

    US and to Canada?

    No. Customer orders within an Open House mustship to one address.

    number for Canadian Demonstrators?

    No. Canadian Demonstrators use the same toll-free1-866-369-5066 number that US Demonstrators use.

    40. Is there a different Demonstrator Manual

    for Canada?

    No. On February 15, 2010, the current Demonstrator Manual will be updated to address both US andCanadian Demonstrators.

    41. Is there a separate convention for

    Demonstrators in Canada?

    No. Uppercase Living holds one annual conventionfor all US and Canadian Demonstrators.

    42. Will there be Road Trips in Canada, and if

    so, when?Road Trips in Canada are tentatively planned for

    April 2010. Speci c dates, locations, and request

    deadlines will be announced on UL Express.

    Canadian Demonstrators?

    Yes. Canadian Demonstrators have access to bothStandard and Premium Demonstrator Websites.

    44. Are Demonstrator Websites for Canadian

    Demonstrators different than for US Demonstrators?

    No. Canadian Demonstrator Websites are thesame as US Demonstrator Websites.

    45. Can Canadian Demonstrators select

    Demonstrator Website names that are already

    in use by Demonstrators in the US?

    No. Every Uppercase Living Demonstrator Website must have a unique name.

    46. Is there a different public website for

    Uppercase Living in Canada?

    No. Uppercase Livings public website(www.uppercaseliving.com) is viable for theUS and Canada.

    47. Is there a different version of UL Express

    for Canada?

    No. Both US and Canadian Demonstrators use thesame version of UL Express.

    February, when will the Living Rewards Product

    Credits associated with her starter kit expire?

    Because starter kits will not ship to Canadauntil March 1, those credits will not expire untilMarch 31 at 11:59 pm Mountain Time (mt ).

    49. If a Canadian Demonstrator enrolls in February,

    when will her UpStart! period begin?

    Effective March 1, UpStart! periods will begin theday that starter kits are shipped. Starter kits willstart shipping to Canada on March 1.

    50. Are Premium Demonstrator Websites available

    for Canadian Demonstrators?

    Yes. However, Canadian Demonstrators will needto wait until March 1 to upgrade to a Premium

    Website. They will have access to a Standard Website on their enrollment date.

    in Canada?

    States and zip codes in the US equate to provincesor territories and postal codes in Canada.

    52. What is the currency in Canada?

    The Canadian dollar.

    53. Is a US passport required to travel to Canada?

    Yes. A US passport is required to travel across the

    border and within Canada.
