Event OverviewThe bulk of Canadas power generation and transmission infrastructure wasbuilt more than 50 years ago when our population stood at 20 million. Today in spite of new energy efficiency and conservation efforts per capitaconsumption is up and Canadas population has grown to nearly 35 million.

The International Energy Agency, Conference Board of Canada, and others haverecently issued studies citing the need in Canada to invest more than $15billion per year over the next 20 years in electricity infrastructure starting now,in order to meet our power demands.

This symposium hosted by Canada 2020 and the Canadian ElectricityAssociation will tackle such hard hitting questions as:

Who will pay for the $15 billion annual electricity infrastructure deficitand how will it be financed?

What are the economic implications of these kinds of investments? How do we want to leverage these electricity infrastructure investments

to support economic growth? How will governments work together to make these investments a

    reality?

How do you square the major investments required with the need tokeep electricity prices affordable?
