Answers to Your Questions

Page 27: Can you believe it’s the end of the school year?...Personal Items (Headphones, jackets, etc.) from the classroom School Work (art projects, workbooks, etc.) Report Cards for 3rd

✘ Is there any way for us to visit the K-4 classroom teacher?

- Unfortunately, our K-4 teachers will not be available, and we ask that you respect their safety and privacy as they work to wrap up the school year. With the unexpected school closure, they have a greater amount of work to do to wrap up this year. In addition, some of our teachers (or one of their family members) are in a high vulnerability category. They would love to receive a kind card or note!

✘ If we want to leave a card, note, or other item for the teacher, when and where can we do this?

- Mrs. Romander will be on campus on Friday, June 5 from 8-3. If you have something you would like to drop off for a teacher, you can come to the office and drop it off in the designated area. The office staff will be sure it gets to your child’s teacher. Please be sure it is clearly labeled.

✘ Will school restart in July?

- Some of you may have heard California Governor Gavin Newsom share the idea of restarting schools in July. Currently, Sunnyvale School District does not plan to open in July, as we will be running a small summer program. Please be aware that Sunnyvale will receive guidance from Santa Clara County Public Health on reopening. Recommendations may be made by the state, but it is SCCPH that will make the final decision for our county.

✘ What can we expect next year?

- It is difficult to predict what school will look like next year. There are a number of factors that must fall into place before we can bring all of our students back to campus.

- A team of students, parents, teachers, and District administrators will begin meeting this week to start developing our reopening plans; however, we do not anticipate a final decision until July at the earliest.

Page 29: Can you believe it’s the end of the school year?...Personal Items (Headphones, jackets, etc.) from the classroom School Work (art projects, workbooks, etc.) Report Cards for 3rd

✘ Will there be more Distance Learning next school year?

- We cannot predict what will happen next school year; however, there is a strong likelihood that there could be a time of Distance Learning next year. We may start the school year with Distance Learning, or we may have periods of Distance Learning if directed by SCCPH.

✘ I have some thoughts about schools reopening. How can I share my thoughts/concerns?

- The Sunnyvale School District will be providing an email survey to all families to identify possible steps needed to help our communities feel safe returning to school. It is important to have your thoughts and concerns shared in this survey to ensure our reopening team is able to address them. Please be sure to complete the brief survey. This information will provide us with various perspectives. If you do not receive this survey, you can share your ideas by emailing me or the Fairwood Alliance Board at [email protected].

✘ Will the school food distribution program continue this summer?

- The Sunnyvale School District has partnered with Sunnyvale Community Services and Second Harvest Food Bank to offer a limited food distribution program will continue during the summer. Details on this program will be shared when they are finalized.
