    Can I use the Kinetix 350 as a position(feedba ck) axis only? Why do I have an Ic01, Boot Block Checksum Fault on the Kinetix 350? Why do I have a F43, Feedback Loss, error on theKinetix 350?

    Yes, though the Kinetix 350 design was constructed for a single axis motoring axis, there are ways to use the Kinetix 350 as a feedback only axis.

    However, the design intent of the use of the Kinetix 350, is to use the Time Synch CIP Ethernet Encoder that will plug into the Ethernet network similar to the drive but allow for a master onlyaxis in the controller motion group.

    Therefore, the suggested plan for a customer with an immediate need to use a product that will support using a small power, motoring servo axis and feedback only axis, is:

    1. Kine tix 6500 which will support both a motoring servo and f eedback only axis with one inverter.

    2. Use of the CIP Ethernet Encoder.

    3. Use of Kinetix 350 with a MPx motor but use the motor encoder as a feedback only axis therefore using the motor shaft as the master gearing axis in the application line shaft.This suggestion is if an absolute position or high resolution count encoder is required.

    The Kinetix 350 nee ds to read a motor encoder blob file in order to initialize if a high resolution motor or encoder are selected. Regardless of the a setup of n o motor, when a h igh resolutiondevice is selected, the Kinetix 350 will request initialization data from the encoder therefore if not programmed, an Ic01, Boot Block Checksum Fault, will occur at powerup.

    4. Use of Kinetix 350 with a TTL encoder per the attached application note.

    F43 is feedback loss but the Kinetix 350 will annunciate this fault with Digital AQB with UVW when the hall effect sensors are not hooked up.
