The RS comprises four primary features; Functional testing, fairing repair, heater repair and flange repair.

The primary failures of a Drain mast can be attributed to fairing damage and electrical faults (heater failure) associated with severe environmental conditions, functional cycling, moisture intrusion or FOD / Ice damage.

The various Camtronics drain mast repair programs create a reliable, cost-effective and quality repair for air carriers, operators and aircraft owners worldwide. The Repair Specification(s) afford the customer the opportunity to reduce maintenance cost whilst improving MTBF (mean time before failure) expectations.

FairingThe fairing is an aerodynamic composite or aluminum component which protects the drain mast internal components; tube assy, heaters and electrical features. As a result of normal service life, FOD damage or water intrusion, the fairing can exhibit surface damage and / or cracking which negatively affects the overall performance of the drain mast. Faults such as erosion, surface imperfections, minor cracking and damaged surface coatings are repaired. The RS comprises four primary features; Functional testing, fairing repair, heater repair and flange repair. The primary failures of a Drain mast can be attributed to fairing damage and electrical faults (heater failure) associated with severe environmental conditions, functional cycling, moisture intrusion or FOD.

FairingThe fairing is an aerodynamic housing the drain tube assembly. The fairing is generally in very poor condition between maintenance visits. The damage migrates the fairing and becomes weak, and may not adequately protect the tube assembly and /or direct the airflow properly.

Solution: CAM repair/replacement of the fairing - Our repair addresses dents and surface imperfections, cracks, etc. This repair extends the service life of the faring. Otherwise, the fairing would have to be replaced with a high cost OEM replacement. The fairing is then worked to a like new finish using aviation grade polyurethane paint and primer.

2 Tube Assembly, Heater, and FlangesDrain mast heater is a rigid Cal- rod/cartridge configuration that often exhibit faults attributed to electrical breakdown due to recurrent cycling and severe environmental conditions. The Camtronics RS repairs faults and / or fits the drain mast tube assembly with new Camtronics fabricated heaters. The tube assembly is prone to failure caused by failure of the heater circuit. when the heater(s) fail the tube, assembly is considered BER by the OEM and their technical instructions.

Solution: CAM repair/replacement of the tube assembly- The tube assembly fails primarily the heater circuit opens electrically. The heater is exposed to the stresses of heat cycling with high current. The Camtronics RS replaces the heater(s) with a Camtronics heater which meets the performance requirements of the original heater while providing extended service life.
