Vision and culture desired
Clarifying Our Future: The Challenge
Instructional practices and curriculum
to support that vision and culture
Factory model of education for the industrial age:
Do very well what the foreman tells you to do.
Network model of education for the information age:
Creative, persistent thinkers who work well in teams
to innovate and solve problems.
School structure and site(s) to support those
instructional practices and thus that vision and culture
Article on the challenge from an economic perspective
CamTech – What is it? Different Perspectives:
• A “rebranding” of what we are already doing in Tech classes at CHS
• A program of study pathway designed to satisfy the PPR state graduation
requirement for those who don’t want to use World Language for PPR
• A program of study designed to prepare more students for a professional
internship in their junior/senior years
• A recognition of the “techno-geeks” in the world as we take over in the
dawning information age
• An identity – a smaller family to connect with in our big and growing
Camas community
• Another warning sign of change underway for public education and our
forward-looking Camas community
• A step along the path to achieving a vision for Camas students.
• A STEM Pilot Program Pathway designed to allow students to practice
solving technical problems while learning to be creative persistent problem
solvers and thinkers who work well in teams.

Internships – CamTech Problem Seminar – Senior Project
(12th Grade – 0.5 credit required, 1.0 credit possible)
•Seniors in CamTech are required to research and solve a problem as their CHS Senior Project
•Seniors are enrolled "Computer Tech & Independent Technology“ or “Robotics CompSci
Seminar” … Aka “CamTech Senior Seminar”
•Problem solution projects will be presented at the spring CamTech Fair
•This problem can be related to their internship or participation in interscholastic competition
•Senior Business-Engineering Communications will also earn English and CWI credit
•While an internship is not required, students will be assisted in acquiring an internship or
apprenticeship that may include a summer or senior year single or double early out
•Upon completion of 2 or more credits in an Emphasis Strand and “CamTech Senior Seminar",
you qualify to walk in graduation with your CamTech Certificate of Proficiency. A few very
industrious students may walk with a Double Certificate.
