ENGLISH LANGUAGE CENTRE (ELC)The English Language Centre’s Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP) prepares you for university studies by providing you with the language skills necessary to succeed academically. Conditional admission to the University of Manitoba is possible by successfully completing Level 5 of the IAEP.

Apply to the English Language Centre (ELC) plus university studies if you do not meet the English language proficiency requirements.
Be sure to upload your interim/predicted or final transcripts to ensure that your application is given full consideration. Conditional admission is possible upon successful completion of Level 5 of the IAEP.
On-campus housing requires a separate application. Apply early at umanitoba.ca/housing. You do not need to hold an offer of admission in order to apply for residence.
Students who apply to the joint ELC plus university studies option will be assessed for conditional admission to the University of Manitoba.
An offer of admission may be made based on interim/predicted grades.
All offers of admission are subject to a review of final grades.
Offers must be accepted by the deadline indicated in your admission offer.
A standardized letter of acceptance, which can be used for your Study Permit application, will be available in your application portal.
Submit English language proficiency documents (if required).

AN OFFER OF ADMISSION
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSIf you are coming to university directly from high school, or have completed less than one year of university studies, you’ll take the direct entry route into a faculty or program: this means either beginning in University 1 (U1) or applying to a program that offers a direct entry option.
Students who have completed one or more years of university study can apply as a transfer student to a program via the advanced entry route. External transfer students may receive a maximum of two years (60 credit hours) of transferable credit to be applied towards a U of M degree.
