buying vacant land is
a complex decision.
There are plenty of
reasons to buy a parcel
of land. If you purchase a house, it’s
probably so you can live in it but with
land you could use the property as
a long-term investment or to build
a new villa on it. Whether it’s your
dream home or a one you intend to
rent out, when you build it yourself,
you can control all of the details like
the size, exterior, exposure and more.
Do your homework. It is important
to know that you have the variety
of options and choose the one that
best suits you and your family. In
Casa de Campo there is a variety of
a pro who knows the ins and outs of
purchasing vacant land.
Do consider the “lifestyle” of the lot
before buying. Your choice of location
will largely depend on the lifestyle
you’re looking for. Does the size of
the lot fit your lifestyle? Smaller lots
may have a lower price, but maybe
the neighbors are too close? With
larger lots, maybe you will feel too
isolated? And so on.
Do consider the value of homes in the
neighborhood. One of the biggest

Do conduct a feasibility study with

Do secure a land loan with an
experienced, accredited, local lender

land purchase. Buying the land

you the right property, negotiating
for a good price, and closing the deal.

purchase of an existing home are
very different. Make sure you go with
outright is always the best option in
terms of giving you the most freedom.
But sometimes a mortgage or a
land load is necessary. In Dominican
Republic, securing a land loan gives
you more options such as not having
to choose a villa builder at the time of
purchase. This way you can purchase
the land first and maybe hold on to
it as a short-, medium- or long-term
land investment. Or you can choose a
builder in the future when you know
exactly what you would like to build.”
