2017 4-H Teen Conference
“May 4-H Be With You” was the theme of this year’s 4-H Teen Conference held at the University of Kentucky campus. Eleven teen delegates (Rebekah Foutch, Anya Deaton, Noah Herald, Hannah Herald, Micah Myers, Daniel Myers, Debbie Myers, Olivia Long, Syd Fillhardt, Taylor Downs, and Brittany Robinson) attended along with Sherri Farley, Owen Prim, and Kellsey Agnew.
Delegates enjoyed educational and interactive tracks and workshops, danced at 2 dances, and participated in multiple assemblies.
Campbell County is also excited to congratulate Debbie Myers for being elected State 4-H President for Kentucky 4-H for the upcoming year! We are so proud of you, Debbie!

week! Some of the favorite
camp traditions are back as
well as some new things too!

Movies, and Musicals.
Some important dates to put in your calendar if
you’re going to camp:
July 5 12-2pm - First Year Camper Day
July 11 2pm - Junior Counselor Training
July 11 5pm - Adult Counselor Training
July 11 7pm - Camper/Parent Orientation
July 17 2pm - Junior Counselor Training
July 17 5pm - Adult Counselor Training
July 17 7pm - Camper/Parent Orientation
July 24-28 - 4-H Camp 2017
JC’s & AC’s choose one training to come to but
are strongly encouraged to attend both Camper/
Parent Orientations if they can!

The Kentucky State Fair is August 17-27, 2017. Reduced price tickets are available at $2.50 each. Orders must be placed by
July 21st.
District 4-H Horse Show June 2-4
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the District 4-H Horse Show in Frankfort. Campbell County had 18 youth participating. The following won either High Point or Reserve in their divisions:

Kentucky State Fair
Selection Day - August 3,
2017
Thursday, August 3 is the day for
getting your state fair entries to
the 4-H office for judging. The
office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30
p.m. Sewing projects have al-
ready been judged for the state fair. Sewing project
unit winners need to bring your garment to the 4-H
office on Thursday, August 3 also. Be prepared to
fill out forms on all exhibits. You will need to label
your project with the following information on each
item: name, birth date and age, address, telephone
number, social security number and grade you were
in last spring. Also include the class number that
corresponds with the project. Information about the
various projects and classes and other entry infor-
mation will be available online or at the 4-H office.
Read through it carefully, and if you have any ques-
tions call 572-2600 and ask for Owen.
**If you are entering 4-H livestock, Owen is
required to sign the completed paper form before
you send it, or you can enter online. Please make
sure you allow enough time to get this done. Dead-
line is July 10th.**
4-H Horse Camp
Kids and horses of all kinds and sizes attended the Campbell County 4-H Saddle Up Horse Camp June 4-9. This
annual event was held at the Alexandria Fairgrounds.
Eighty-one youth and 101 adults participated this year. The camp offers in-depth instruction on overall horse care and safety. The purpose of 4-H Horse Camp is for the horses and kids to learn together. The camp offered classes for Western
Riding, Hunt Seat, Contest, Miniature and Gaited Horses
Total family involvement is what makes these camps a success as well as the support from the leaders, businesses
and fair board.

The Kentucky 4-H Achievement
Program is intended to recognize 4-H
members who have outstanding
accomplishments in citizenship,
leadership, service, marketing and
participation.
This program seeks to provide
incentive to youth to increase their
knowledge, skills and abilities
through several options for youth to build their
skills and be recognized for their achievements.

LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAM NEWS
The Campbell County Livestock Judging Team travelled
to Muhlenberg County on June 19th-22nd to compete at
the 2017 State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest. They
have been putting in long hours of practice and it has
paid off. Congratulations to the entire group & espe-
cially to those that placed:
Kelly Cropenbaker- 1st in Goats, 9th Sheep, 6th Beef,
4th Reasons, and 5th overall
Gracie Wright-4th swine, 5th beef, 9th overall
Senior team-5th swine, 4th beef, 3rd reasons, and 4th
overall.
Both Gracie & Kelly have the opportunity to compete at
top 12 week for 8 spots on the traveling state judging
team. So proud of all members that competed this
week!

4-H Saddle-Up Club
The Saddle-Up Club last met on June 1, 2017. The meet-ing was called to order by Deborah Myers. Attendance was taken, and there were no new members. The secretary’s report was read by Lydia Deaton. There were no correc-
tions and the report stands as read.
Committee Reports
County Council - Report was given by Anya Deaton. The committee last met on May 9th and they discussed
the budget.
District Council - Report was given by Kassi Parker. The ribbons were put together for the District 3 and 4 horse show. If you have any questions Patsy Parker will be there all weekend. District 3 and 4 Grand
Champion and Reserve Champion will be separate.
Grounds - Report was given by Gene Barbian. The fence for horse camp will be put up tonight after the meeting. There will be 82 campers this year and about
85 horses. This year there will be 25 new campers.
Report was given by Micah Myers and Patsy Parker. Patsy presented Paula with an apron for all of her hard work in the kitchen, registration, etc. There will be a meeting about the opening ceremony after the conclu-
sion of this meeting.
Nominating - Report was given by Deborah Myers. If anyone is interested in running for an office please see
Deborah.
Horse show - Report was given by Roman Linkugel. There was no meeting, but the Western $100 open
show is on June 18th.
Mr. Prim - Looking forward to horse camp and good luck to everyone participating at District and State
Horse Shows!
Old Business
Milestones camp has been cancelled this weekend.
Deborah Myers is running for State 4-H President during
Teen Conference.
Deborah Myers adjourned the meeting.

The 2017 Backroads Farm Tour is scheduled for Saturday, July 15 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help at most of the host farms.
