Kindred Hearts Homeschool Club

The Kindred Hearts 4-H Homeschool Club met on

April 7th at the Cincinnati Observatory from 10 am-

12pm. When we arrived, we met our guide outside

the observatory and he showed us how to look at the

sun safely through welder's glass. Next we went in-

side for information on the Great American Eclipse

that will happen Monday, August 21st 2017 and a

presentation on playing baseball on other planets and

on an asteroid. After we were done with the presen-

tation we got a tour of the buildings that hold the

Observatory's telescopes. The first building held the

original telescope that was made in 1845. The next

building held the newer telescope that was made in

1904. The next meeting will be May 5th from 12pm-

2pm at the Campbell County Environmental Educa-

tion Center.

Livestock Club

The livestock club held their month-ly meeting in March. Gary Downs taught 1 hour of education before the meeting. Trey Downs brought in his kid goat to demonstrate the education. Record books were passed out for market animals. See Mr. Prim if you still need a record book. Weigh in for Goats, Sheep & Swine is May 5th at Pendleton County Fairgrounds from 4-6. Forms will be passed out at April’s meeting. The next meeting is April 17th at 7:30, an

hour of education before the meeting.

The Livestock club met on April 17th with an hour of education taught by Brett Wright. Education included general animal health observations and vaccinations. The business meeting included discussion about weigh in dates and paper

work needed, club shirts, and the Livestock Clinic on April 28th.

Congratulations to Micah Myers and Derek Schadler

who are the Livestock Scholarship recipients this year.

On May 15th from 4-6 pm we will meet to work our country hams and have a meeting at 6:30 pm at the Fairgrounds. Final decisions and voting on club shirts will be made at this

time.

Saddle Up 4-H Club

The Campbell County Saddle Up Club last met on March 2nd, 2017. The meeting was called to order. Pledges were said. Attendance was taken. The new members from the February meeting were further intro-duced and welcomed to the club. Secretary’s report was read; one

amendment was made, and that was to add Rebekah Foutch as silver level for the 4-H achievement program. There were no further amendments made and the report was approved. Treas-urer’s report was read; there were no amendments and the re-

port was approved.

Committee Reports

County advisory council—Report was read by Deborah Myers.

The next meeting will be on March 14th at the Extension office.

Education—Report was read by Rebekah Foutch. Club bylaws

were reviewed and discussed.

Fundraising—Report was read by Mrs. Myers. Bagging will be available April 15th at County Market. Candy bars are in money

is due ideally at the next meeting.

Horse Camp—Report was read by Micah Myers. Camp forms are now available! Horse Camp is June 4th-9th. The next meet-ing will be May 4th at 6pm at the Alexandria Fairgrounds. Camp

T-shirts were voted on.

Horse Show—Report was read by Roman Linkugel. All divisions will show at all three shows. Now everyone is required to have

Flu Rhino vaccination.

Our next meeting will be April 15th at the Fairgrounds. Nicole made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Micah Myers second-

ed the motion.

SCHOOL CLUBS Campbell Ridge Elementary School

4th Grade

The meeting of Mrs. Lee’s 4-H Bees 4-H club was called to order on 3-23-17 by President Jenna at CRES. After our monthly meeting was called to order, we said the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. Layla and Jamie led the pledges. The topic of our lesson was egg drop, and we learned that you can prevent an egg from breaking using balloons, pipe sticks, bubble wrap

and tape. All of the eggs in my class did not break.

4th Grade

Grant’s Lick Elementary School On March 8, 2017, at Grant’s Lick Elementary School, we held our 4th grade speech competition. Each 4th grader prepared and presented a speech. St. Thomas Elementary School

The meeting of the 4-H Tomcat Club 4-H club was called to or-der on April 11, 2017 by President Elsa at St. Thomas. The topic of our lesson was My Plate. We learned to have more fruit and vegetables than sugar. To have more whole grain than white. There were 19 members present.
