A lost job. An unexpected medical crisis. You never know when life will take an unexpected turn. But it happens all the time — and for many of our Bay Area neighbors, it’s difficult to recover from these events without a little help.

For more than 29 years, the Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund has been a significant source of that help. Thanks to the amazing generosity of the community we call home, the Fund has distributed more than $105 million to help local individuals and families in crisis. This emergency support allows people to stay in their homes as they get back on their feet. And, as a leading supporter of local food banks, the Season of Sharing Fund also helps keep food on the table for those struggling to make ends meet.

In 2014-15, the Fund raised a record $7.6 million in contributions from more than 5,100 donors. As always, administrative expenses for the Fund are covered by the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund and the San Francisco Chronicle, so every dollar goes directly to help the communities and the families we serve.

In this report, you will meet some of the individuals and families who received support from the Season of Sharing Fund this year. As you read their stories, you’ll see how a helping hand can provide hope to our neighbors in need.

Thank you for making a difference.

With gratitude,

Jennifer KirschenbaumExecutive Director

P.O. Box 44740 San Francisco, CA 94144 415.777.7929 www.seasonofsharing.org
