We offer 8 themed weeks full of fun, adventure, learning and laughter. Explore nature, swim in Lake Michigan, learn about animals and their habitats, play new games and enjoy some old favorites. Campers will make new friends and memories at Camp McSauba! Our Crew Jane Milan is the Camp Director at Mt. McSauba. This is Jane’s fourth year with us and she is excited to see some familiar faces and meet new ones. Jane has taught elementary education in private international schools and in the US for over twenty years. All of our Counselors are high school and college- age students who have current CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard training. The Counselors will engage with the campers in all activities, provide a safe and fun environment, and create new summer memories. We are all looking forward to a fun and unforgettable camp season! Camp Hours and Fees Drop-off is at 8:30. Camp begins at 9:00. The door will remain locked until 8:30 so please do not drop your child off before that time. Pick-up is at 4:00. Because our days are packed with scheduled activities, it is important that our Campers arrive on time. It is equally important that Campers are picked up on time as many of our Counselors have second jobs they need to get to. Thank you for helping us stay on time! This year we are offering Camp Chill. For an additional $25 per camper, per week, we will extend the pick up time to 5:15. This is offered Monday - Thursday only. Friday pick-up remains 4:00. Your camper must be picked up by that time, no exceptions. Pre-registration for Camp Chill is required. The weekly rate for day camp is $100 for residents within the city limits of Charlevoix or residents of Charlevoix Township. The non-resident weekly rate is $120. The week of July 1 is $75 for everyone regardless of residency due to no camp on the 4th or 5th of July. Summer Youth Programs

T-BallOpen to boys and girls between the ages of 5 - 7. Games are played at the T-ball field on Carpenter Street and are typically on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6:30 and 7:30, mid-June through mid-July. Actual schedule to be determined.

Flag FootballAll children in 1st - 4th grades in the fall are eligible to play. Game are played on Kipke Field September - October.

Skate ParkCharlevoix maintains and operates a supervised, family-friendly, community skate park located on Carpenter Street, across from the ball fields. It is open to skateboarders, BMX riders, in-line skaters, and scooters.

Junior TennisOpen to boys and girls ages 7 and up. Lessons are offered for beginners and intermediate players and are held at the City tennis courts on Elm Street. There are 2 sessions, beginning in June and running through July.

Other Community Programs

Junior GolfOpen to boys and girls ages 8 - 16, this program uses legendary coach John Wooden’s famous Pyramid of Success. Play takes place at Antrim Dells, Belvedere and Charlevoix Golf Club. Mid June - mid July.

Little LeagueThis local youth baseball and softball league is open to boys and girls ages 6 - 14. Games are played at the Carpenter Street ball fields.

Sailing ProgramLearn to sail on Lake Charlevoix in a safe and well-supervised program. Offered to boys and girls ages 8 - 19. Students must know how to swim.

Youth SoccerAge groups from U6 - U14. The recreation league runs August - October. The travel league runs in the spring and fall.

Try-it-Tuesdays at CampCamp McSauba is working in conjunction with Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital’s Wellness Workshop to encourage campers to learn about, prepare and taste new foods. We will also use Try-it-Tuesdays to learn a new activity, game or sport.

a Sessions / Weekly ThemesWeek 1 June 17 - 21: Exploring Mt. McSauba. Get to know the McSauba area through hikes, talks, nature activities and plenty of Camp games.

Week 2 June 24 - 28: The GREAT Great Lake. Special feature on June 27! Inland Seas is bringing a ship for up to 30 campers (ages 9 - 13) to experience Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan. Explore the boats John Cross Fisheries use for fishing, visit the Great Lakes Fishery, and other fun maritime activities! Register early for this week.

Week 3 July 1 - 3: 4th of July Fun! A short red, white, and blue week celebrating America’s birthday. No camp on the 4th or 5th this week.

Week 4 July 8 - 12: Nature Abounds! More exploration about our natural beauty here in Charlevoix. Campers will discover birds, habitats, trees, insects, and so much more!

Week 5 July 15 - 19: Let’s Get Wet! A week full of water activities. Be sure to wear your swim-suit under your camp clothes each day.

Week 6 July 22 - 26: Sports Mania. Campers will experience a version of “mini Venetian” games, testing fitness abilities with various running, jumping, and throwing events.

Week 7 July 29 - Aug 2: Where the Wild Things Are. More nature activities and a visit from a park ranger.

Week 8 Aug 5 - 9: Fantasy Fun! Fairies, gnomes, Harry Potter, medieval characters and more. Dress as your favorite fantasy person and learn more about the fantasy world!
