About OUR CAMP
Camp Kibbutz, now in its sixth summer, is a special place where children come together to explore Torah and enjoy summer as one big family. Every child has the opportunity to do what s/he loves while trying new and exciting things under the watchful eyes of our dedicated and experienced staff of professionals and volunteers.
Younger children bond with older children and teens while enjoying davening, music, arts & crafts, sports, and traditional camp ruach. Long-lasting friendships are forged, as is a deeper love of Torah and Jewish life.
Every day is a new adventure at Camp Kibbutz, filled with creativity and fun. From wacky theme days to incredible field trips, there’s always something to smile about.
Camp Kibbutz aims to be a Torah-learning and community building experience open to all: affordable and accommodating. In addition to our competitive pricing, need-based scholarships are available.

School’s out and camp is in! Summer 2015 kicks off with a revamped Family Shabbaton, hosted at the Capital Retreat Center, one hour outside of DC in the Cotoctin
Mountains.
Escape the hustle and heat of city living and join other families for an invigorating Shabbat experience. Activities
and fun for all ages.
This year’s Family Shabbaton is generously subsidized by donors to allow maximum participation by our

Directly following the Family Shabbaton, campers are invited to experience the fun of sleep away camp without
the month-long commitment! Join Rabbi Shmuel and Sarah Shapiro for 4-nights of incredible camp fun.
Hosted in the Leadership Center, a truly unique, self-contained facility, with balcony level bunkrooms, two meeting rooms, and a 6,000 square-foot activity area, campers will enjoy the amazing facilities and all that
Capital Retreat Center has to offer.
Return transportation to Ohev Sholom provided.

Every day is a new adventure, not to be missed! Join us for 3 sessions of fun, friendship & Torah. Camp Kibbutz Day Camp
brings together kids of all ages for engaging activities, learning and team-building.
As an opportunity to reflect on the 9 Days leading up to Tisha B’Av, the final session of Day Camp will focus on giving back through acts of chesed and tzedakah. Campers will choose
Chesed Focus Areas such as Eco-Chesed or Chesed Arts and work with specialists to find new and innovative ways to give
back to the community.

Derekh HaAvot: Path of our Ancestors
At Adventure Camp, we’ll explore Grand Island and other opportunities and challenges our ancestors faced in
establishing and building Jewish communities in the United States and throughout the world.
Join Rabbi Shmuel and our amazing staff for a 4-day/3-night road trip through Pennsylvania and upstate New York. Campers
will sleep in group cabins as we explore the journeys of our ancestors!
We will bring ruach and kavanah to small Jewish communities, enjoy a kumsitz, and explore the rich history of Grand Island,
NY. All while having fun the Camp Kibbutz way!

Did you know that In 1824, in a precursor to modern Zionism, journalist and Utopian Mordecai Manuel Noah tried to found a Jewish homeland at Grand
Island in the Niagara River, to be called Ararat (after Mt. Ararat, the resting place of Noah’s ark)?
F.A.Q.What if I need day camp after-care? We would like to accommodate those who need late pick-up (up to 6 pm, for an additional fee). If you are interested in daily after-care, please contact Sarah Shapiro at [email protected].
What’s special about CITs (counselors-in-training)? In addition to participating in regular camp activities, CITs (entering grades 6, 7 and 8) engage in leadership training activities to learn the skills necessary to become a well-rounded counselor. CITs also provide assistance to staff and younger campers and are eligible to earn community service hours.
What if I want to be a counselor at Camp Kibbutz? We are seeking counselors, entering grade 9 & up, to join our team. Counselors are eligible for compensation (based on age/experience) or community service hours. Interested teens must be responsible, enjoy working with children and eager to lead.
