From music, performing arts, recreational and outdoor experiences to spiritual formations,

Camp Happyland strives to be an all-inclusive ministry that strengthens the body, soul, and mind.

For more than 100 years, The Salvation Army has recognized the value of camping and

has witnessed the difference it can make in people’s lives. It opens up an entirely new world

for a child.

We aim to meet the needs of our campers: physical, social, and spiritual. Camping at its

best is an educational process in which the camper — and the camp staff — may find a

new understanding of God and His creation. The natural outdoor locale provides an ideal

setting for the guiding of young hearts and minds towards spiritual values.

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Located about two hours south of Washington,

D.C., in Richardsville, Virginia, Camp Happyland

is a summer destination for more than 1,000 youth

from all communities The Salvation Army serves in

the Washington, D.C. metro area and Virginia.

What they take home won’t FIT in a backpack!The traditional residential camp program consists of one-

week programs for school-age children from June 17 -

July 27, where campers learn positive life skills and engage

in a variety of activities different from those available at

school and home. Teen camps feature organized sports,

value-oriented programs and leadership development classes

that address life issues to help them navigate through

challenging years. MusiCamp is a themed one-week session

for those interested in band, choir, theatre, and dance.

Camper Ages: School-age children

Activities: Archery, arts & crafts, canoeing,

challenge course, competitive team sports,

bible study, Euro bungee, fishing,

free play, human foosball, gaga ball,

hiking, lake swing, music, orienteering,

paddle boating, rock wall, swimming.

There is also a small nature center.

6-12)

June 24 - July 20 Music Conservatory (boys and girls, ages

12-17 selected by Divisional Music Director)

July 1 - 6 Discovery Camp (boys and girls, 1st-6th

grades, min. age is 6) Teen Boys (ages 13-17)

July 8 - 13 Community Camp 2 (boys and girls, ages

6-12 Teen Girls (ages 13-17)

July 15 - 20 Community Camp 3 (boys and girls, ages

6-12) Jr. Soldier (boys and girls, ages 7-12)

July 22 - 27 Victory Sports Camp (boys and girls, ages

10-17) Leadership Trek (boys and girls, ages 14-17)
