Bibi Jee was born as a princess of Raja
Udai Singh of Chamba Desh and died as a princess of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. She led an exemplary life that is a role model for Sikh women today. She was brought up in a royal family like a princess but after getting married to Baba Banda Singh Bahadar, she faced all the hardships that befell on her, with the same Khalsa spirit as her husband. In all the accomplishments of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar, she played a crucial role.
Bibi Jee learned the martial art of Khalsa and soon became a skilled fighter. She participated in many battles, along with her husband. She
used to lead in doing sewa in langar.
All the Singhs were paraded to Delhi. Bibi Ji and her son were taken to Farukhsiyaar, the Mughal emperor. Bibi Jee was tortured using new methods every day. After torturing and hurting her, they would try to cajole and coax her into becoming a Muslim and getting married to Farukhsiyaar, but great was noble Bibi Shusheel Kaur Ji who preferred death over becoming a Muslim.
When Bibi Jee refused to bow to their demands to adopt Islam and marry Farukhsiyaar (the Mughal Emperor), they snatched away her innocent 4 years old child – Ajay Singh. They took him to his father and right in front of him; they cut open his chest and took out his heart.
Bibi Shusheel Kaur Jee with great patience listened to the news of her husband’s and son’s martyrdom.
She stayed calm and still refused to bow before the Mughals but she knew that sooner or later, she would fall victim to the dirty eyes of the Mughals. She grabbed opportunity and took her life with a table knife. The Mughal dream of humiliating the Singhs by converting the wife of their leader Baba Banda Singh Bahadar into Islam got crushed. Bibi Jee defeated their intentions by sacrificing herself.

Bibi Sharan Kaur was a Sikh martyr
who was slain in 1705 by Mughal soldiers while cremating the bodies two older sons of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, the 10th Sikh Guru, after the battle of Chamkaur Sahib. She was from the village Raipur Rani which is 1 KM from the famous town of Chamkaur Sahib in Punjab, India.
Moghul and Rajput Hilly soldiers
wanted the bodies of the soldiers - martyrs according to Sikh tradition- to rot in open air in order to terrorize Sikh population who refused to apostasize or give out the whereabouts of Guru Gobind
Singh.
Telling her children of her mission to cremate Sikh bodies, she left in the middle of the night towards Chamkaur Sahib. The battlefield was heavily guarded by Mughal forces; they knew that the Guru’s Sikhs would always come to do Sanskaar of their Shaheeds. Despite this heavy security, Bibi Sharan Kaur and her other accomplices slipped through the Mughal forces.
She began to collect the bodies of the brave Shaheeds one by one. She created a funeral pyre close by. There were thirty-two Sikh bodies in total, including those of Sahibzadas Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh and her husband Bhai Preetam Singh.
Once all 32 bodies had been collected, Bibi Sharan Kaur and her other accomplices lit the funeral pyre. The Mughal forces, seeing the fire, were amazed as to how a Sikh could slip through. Embarrassed because of their own failures, they threatened the dignity of the lady to take revenge. Bibi Sharan Kaur and her other accomplices now completely encircled by the Mughal forces and finally become martyrs fighting against Mughals.
Bibi Jee showed the bravery of a Sikh woman, and without fear, she fought against Mughals. She showed no attachment to her two small children. Like her husband, she laid her life for her Guru as well.

Bibi Kishan Kaur is known for her tearless role in the Jaito agitation.
She took active part in the Jaito agitation of 1922-24. The Government of India had forced Maharaja Ripudaman Singh, the ruler of Nabha state known for his independent attitude, to abdicate. The Sikhs of Jaito, which fell within his territory, planned to hold prayers for his well-being and restoration. By order of the British-controlled state administration, a posse of armed police entered Gurdwara Gangsar and stopped Akhand Path and brutally imprisoned the entire Sangat
gathered there denying them exit and permitting no provisions from outside to reach them. Jathedar Dulla Singh and Suchcha Singh of the village of Rode organized a land of volunteers, who collected the required rations and managed through fence and force to unload them inside the Gurdwara compound. Bibi Kishan Kaur was a member of this band which later arranged rations for the Shahidi Jathas.
The first Shahidi Jatha, lit band of martyrs, 500 strong and vowed to non-violence, was to reach Jaito on 21 February 1924 in a bid to enter Gurdwara Gangsar at any cost to recommence the Akhand Path. The state Government was equally determined not to let them do so and had deployed armed police and military contingents with orders to open fire, if necessary. Bibi Kishan Kaur and her companion, Bibi Tej Kaur, went to it disguised as ladies of the Hindu trading association, collected intelligence about government's plans and preparations, and joined the jatha to convey the information he jatha accordingly rescheduled their march and instead of going straight to Gurdwara Gangsar, changed course suddenly and headed for Gurdwara Tibbi Sahib, half a mile to the north. State troops, however, barred entry even to that shrine and opened fire on the jatha. Bibi Kishan Kaur, with her small band of volunteers, at once busied herself attending the wounded. She along with 21 others was arrested and prosecuted. The trial commenced at Nabha on 17 May 1924 Kishan Kaur was sentenced to four years rigorous imprisonment. Released on June 1928, she was accorded a warm welcome the following day at Amritsar, where a siropa or robe of honour was bestowed on her from the Akal Takht. The Sikhs everywhere acclaimed her courage and sacrifice.

Mata Sundari Jee was wife of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib (1666-1708). She was married to Guru Gobind Singh at Anandpur Sahib on 4 April 1684. The Anand Karaj was performed near the village of Basantgarh, 10 km north of Anandpur, and named Guru Ka Lahore on 21 June 1684.
On 30th March 1699, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib created Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib. He declared that this Khalsa will be both Saints as well as Soldiers. When Guru Gobind Singh Sahib was preparing amrit (nectar) for initiating the Khalsa, on
this occasion, stirring clean water in an iron bowl with a khanda or double-edged sword, Mata Sundari Iee, as the tradition goes, came with sugar crystals (Patasha) which were dropped into the vessel at the Guru's bidding. Sweetness was thus added to the alchemy of steel. Mata Sundari Jee was the first Khalsa Woman.
Mata Sundari Jee raised her four sons (Sahibzades) on the martyrdom tales of their grandfather Guru
Tegh Bahadur Sahib and great great grandfather Guru Arjan Sahib. She told them a Sikh never runs from a battle field. It was because of her teachings that all her sons attained Martyrdom. Consequent upon the evacuation of Anandpur on the night of 5-6 December 1705, Mata Sundari Jee was escorted by Bhai Mani Singh Jee to Delhi.
After the passing away of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib at Nanded in October 1708, the Sikhs looked up to her for guidance. She appointed Bhai Mani Singh Jee to manage the Gurdwara Sahibs at Amritsar Sahib and also commissioned him to collect the writings of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. She also issued her own seal and authority hukamnamas to sangats. The hukamnamas since discovered and published bear dates between 12 October 1717 and 10 August 1730.
A memorial in her honour stands in the compound of Gurdwara Bala Sahib, New Delhi.

Sardar Fateh Singh (d. 1716) was an army commander under Baba Banda Singh Bahadar and participated in several of Baba Banda Singh's battles against the Mughal rulers. Samana, about 200 kms north was the native place of Jalal-ud-did Jallad, the professional executioner, who had beheaded Guru Tegh Bahadar Sahib, while his son had beheaded two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. Ali Hussain who by false promises had lured Guru Gobind singh Sahib to evacuate Anandpur Sahib also belonged to Samana. It was an accursed place in the eyes of Sikhs. The entire peasantry of the neighborhood was now up in
arms, and Baba Banda Singh's following had risen to several thousands. Baba Banda Singh fell upon the town on November 26, 1709. The inhabitants were massacred in cold blood and town thoroughly squeezed. Samana was the district town and had nine Parganahs attached to it. Samana was the first territorial conquest and the first administrative unit of Baba Banda Singh and Sardar Fateh Singh was appointed Governor of Samana. In the battle of Sirhind, fought at the nearby village of Chappar Chiri, after fierce fighting, at last the whole of the Muhammadan army was destroyed. Wazir Khan (Nawab of Sirhind responsible for cold-blooded murder of the tenth Guru’s younger sons) then came face to face with Sardar Baaj Singh and rushed upon him with a lance. Sardar Baaj Singh snatched the lance from Wazir Khan and struck it upon the head of his horse and wounded it. After a while Wazir Khan pulled out an arrow from his quiver and flung it upon the arm of Sardar Baaj Singh. Then drawing his sword he rushed forward to make an end of him. Sardar Fateh Singh, who was standing nearby, drew his sword and so bravely and strongly hit Wazir Khan at his sword-belt that his sword passed through from his shoulder to his waist and the Nawab’s head fell on the ground. Sardar Fateh Singh was taken prisoner at Lohgarh in December 1710 and after several years in jail, was executed in Delhi in June 1716 along with Baba Banda Singh Bahadar and his other companions.

Bhai Binod Singh, a direct descent from Guru Angad Sahib (Second Nanak), was a devoted disciple of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib and was among the few Sikhs who accompanied Guru Ji to the South in 1708. He was chosen to be one of the five companions of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar (1670-1716) sent by the Guru Gobind Singh Sahib in 1708 from Nanded to the Punjab to chastise the persecutors of the Sikhs.
Bhai Binod Singh was Baba Banda Singh's ally in the campaign he launched upon arrival in the Punjab. In the Battle of Sirhind fought in May 1710, Binod Singh commanded the left wing of Banda Singh's army. He was
pitched against Sher Muhammad Khan of Malerkotla who was commander of Subhehdar Wazir Khan's right wing.
After Banda Singh's conquest of the province of Sirhind, the frontier district of Karnal, bordering on
Delhi territory, was entrusted to Bhai Binod Singh. Soon thereafter, in October 1710, Bhai Binod Singh fought four battles:
1. At Taraori, 12 km north of Karnal, 2. At Amin, 25 km north of Karnal, 3. At Thanesar, 8 km farther north 4. At Shahabad, 22 km north of Thanesar.

Pir Buddhu Shah (13 June 1647 - 21 March 1704), was a Muslim divine whose real name was Badr ud Din, who was an admirer and ally of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. He was born in a prosperous Sayyid family of Sadhaura, in the present-day Ambala district of Haryana. Because of his simplicity and silent nature during his early childhood he was given the nickname of Buddhu (literally meaning "simpleton") which stuck to him permanently.
He visited the Guru regularly and at one point introduced 500 Shias Muslims Pathan soldiers who had been expelled by Aurangzeb to the
Guru who employed them.
In 1688, during the Battle of Bhangani, when Guru Gobind Singh was attacked by a combined force of the hill chiefs led by Raja Fateh Shah of Srinagar (Garhwal), all the Pathans with the exception of Kale Khan deserted him and joined forces of the attacking hill chieftains.
Pir Buddhu Shah came to know about disloyalty of the Pathans, he rushed to the Bhangani, and joined the Guru forces on the battlefield with his seven hundred of his own followers, four sons, and two brothers. Many of the Pir's disciples as well as two of his sons, Ashraf and Muhammad Shah, and his brother, Bhure Shah fell in the action. He came to realize that the Guru's fight was not for any kingdom but against the tyranny which was being perpetrated against the poor people.
When Baba Banda Singh Bahadur came to know that the Pir had been executed because he helped Guru Gobind Singh Sahib in the battle of Bhangani, he avenged the Pir's death by storming Sadhaura and killing Usman Khan, who had been responsible of the Pir's death. Pir Buddhu Shah's descendants migrated to Pakistan in 1947. Their ancestral house in Sadhaura has since been converted into a Gurdwara named after Pir Buddhu Shah.

Baba Banda Singh Bahadar, on his way towards Punjab, dispatched Guru Gobind Singh Sahib’s letters to the Sikhs of the Malwa, the Doaba, and the Majha districts, calling upon them to join with him in the laudable object of uprooting the tyrannous rule of the intolerant Mughals. The preparations of the Sikhs all over the country to join their new leader alarmed the Mughal officials, particularly the Faujdar of Sirhind, Wazir Khan, who feared them the most. Aalhi Singh, Malhi Singh and a few other Sikhs of Salaudi were in the
service of Wazir Khan of Sirhind. One day the Nawab called Aalhi Singh to his presence and jocularly remarked that “Another Guru of theirs had now appeared (referring to Banda Singh Bahadar); that he (Aalhi Singh) should join him and bring him to Sirhind to be dispatched after the previous Guru’s sons. Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, he said, had been driven away to die in the Deccan, but Banda Singh’s bones would be scattered in Sirhind itself”
This cutting remark of the proud Wazir Khan was too insulting to be tolerated by the self-respecting Sikh. Wazir Khan ordered Aalhi Singh and the other Sikhs to be chained and thrown into prison. They managed to escape through the instrumentality of their jailor and were out of Faujdar’s reach by the time he was informed that they had forced open the prison and fled. Bhai Aalhi Singh and Malhi Singh soon joined Banda Singh’s ranks. Aalhi Singh and Malhi Singh took part in battles fought at Samana and Sadhaura. In the battle of Sirhind, at the nearby village of Chappar Chiri, Aalhi Singh and Malhi Singh were one of the commanders of the Malwa Sikhs (right wing). After the sack of Sirhind, Aalhi Singh was appointed deputy governor of the town under Sardar Baaj Singh. Aalhi Singh was captured in Lohgarh in 1710, while defending the fortress against the Mughal onslaught and after several years of imprisonment, was put to death in Delhi in June 1716 along with Malhi Singh, Baba Banda Singh Bahadar and his men seized in Gurdas Nangal.

Sardar Baaj Singh had received the rites of initiation (Khande-Baate-di-Pahul) at the hands of Guru Gobind Singh himself. He accompanied the Guru to the Deccan in 1708 and was one of the five Sikhs sent by him to the Punjab with Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. He took part in all of Banda Singh's major campaigns. For his fearlessness in battle, he came to be known as Baaj Bahadur (bahadur, lit. brave).
Sardar Baaj Singh was second out of eight sons of Rao Nathiaji Puar. His elder brother was the legendary Sardar Bhagwant Singh Bangeshwar. Very famous Sikh warrior, scholar & martyr
Bhai Mani Singh was his cousin brother. He was very strong and brave Sikh. His bravery and fighting skills were famous far and wide. He defeated the most strong and skilled Pathaans and Mughals in one-on-one fights in the battlefields.
In the battle of Sirhind fought at Chappar Chiri in May 1710, Sardar Baaj Singh was in command of the right wing of Banda Singh’s army. He faced Nawab Wazir Khan in the battle striking his horse down with a lance. As the battle was won, Baaj Singh was named Governor of the Sirhind. Baaj Singh was captured at Gurdas Nangal in December 1715 and taken to Delhi. Farrukhsiyar, the Mughal emperor then, asked tauntingly “where is the brave Baaj Singh aka Baaj Bahadur whom whole Mughal army feared, where is his bravery now?” Baaj Singh tied in iron chains roared in his voice “I am Baaj Singh! You have tied my feet and hands in iron chains, open one of them I will let you know of my bravery!” Then his feet were made free of chains on emperor's orders but hands still tied. It said by the writers of the Mughal court in their memoirs that Baaj Singh with a blink of eye snatched sword of the nearby Mughal soldier and with a lightning speed killed 16 Mughal armed men on the spot. And the emperor had to run leaving his throne. Sardar Baaj Singh was executed in June 1716 along with Banda Singh and his other companions. .

In 1711, the Khalsa Panth, under the leadership of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar, issued the first known 1 rupee
silver coins bearing the Year 2 at Mukhlispore (renamed Lohgarh) near Sadhaura. A second issue of 1 rupee silver coins bearing the Year 3 were issued in 1712. However, the couplet of these coins is different from the couplet used on the seal of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar.
The aforesaid letter bears the seal of Baba Banda
Singh Bahadar , in Persian, Deg-o-tegh-o-
fateh-o-nusrat-bedrang yaft az
Nanak Guru Gobind Singh (Abundance, power, victory and assistance without delay are the gifts of Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh). Below the seal is the Hukamnama (edict or order) to the Sikhs of Jaunpur by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur on 12th December 1710.
Romanized English version of the Hukamnama:
Ek Ongkar Fateh Darshan. Sri sache sahib ji ka hokum hai sarbat Khalsa Jaunpur ka Guru rekhega, guru japna janam savraega, tusi sri akal purakh ji ka khalsa ho, panj hathear banh ke hukam dekhdiya darshan awna. Khalsae di rahet rahena, bhang, tumakoo, hafeem, posthe, dharoo, amal koyee na hi khana, mas masheli paeaj na hi khana, chori jari nahi karni, asa satjug vertaeya hae aap vech pyar karna, mera hukam hae jo khalsae di rahet rahega tesdi Guru bahori kareaga. Methi Poh 12 samvat pahela
. satrathes
Translation of the Hukamnama Ek Ongkar Fateh Darshan. By the order of the true king, all the Khalsa of Jaunpur will be protected by Guru ji, Pray to the Guru for he will improve your life. You are God’s Khalsa, wear the five weapons and on being ordered, present yourself. You must obey the principals of the Khalsa. You are not to consume hemp, tobacco, opium, poppy seeds or alcoholic drinks. You are not to eat meat, fish and onions. You must not steal. We usher in a new era, Satjug – the Age of Truth. Love one another. This is my order, those who should live according to the
) principals of the Khalsa will be protected by God. Dated 12 Poh samvat pahela 1 (= 12 December 1710
Significance of the Hukamnama The interesting thing about this letter is that it has the date in Gurmukhi Poh 12 Samvat Pahela 1 (= 12 December Samvat Year 1, i.e. 1710) on the last line. The new Samvat era date on this letter further confirms that a new era (Samvat Year 1) was declared by Baba Banda Singh Bahadar after his capture of the city of Sirhind on 14th May, 1710 )

It is possible that Baba Banda Singh Bahadar could have issued the 1 Rupee coin bearing the Year 1.
Should such a coin be traced in time to come, the two listed coins below would become the 2nd and 3rd issues of his short lived coinage.
1 Rupee silver, Year 2 (1711) Diameter: 28 mm, Weight: 11.96 grammes.
1 Rupee silver,Year 3 (1712) Diameter: 23 mm, Weight: 11.84 grammes.
Obverse: In Persian “Sikka zad bar Har do alam , fazl Saccha Sahib ast , fateh
tegh-e Gur(u) Gobind (Singh) shah shahan, Nanak waheb ast” (Coin struck for the two worlds by the grace of the True Lord, Victory of the sword of the King of Kings , Guru Gobind (Singh) , Nanak submits (says) that Almighty is the provider)
Reverse: In Persian “Zarb Khalsa Mubarak bakht ba-aman ad-dhar zinat al takht
mashwarat shahr, sanah 2” (struck by the Khalsa of auspicious fortune at the refuge of the fate, the ornament of the throne (of Akal) the city of the council, year 2)

Baba Banda Singh Bahadar (1670-1716)
Banda Singh Bahadar, the first Sikh General to wage an offensive war against the cruel Mughal rulers of India, thereby establishing the first Sikh State. He was born in 1670 at Rajori (western Kashmir) and known as Lachhman Dev and Lachhman Das in his childhood.
As a youth, he decided to be an ascetic and adopted the name Madho Das. In 1707, he became a Sikh of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib and after his initiation into the Khalsa, he was given the name Banda Singh.
In 1708, at Nanded, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib sent Banda Singh to Punjab and advised him to put a stop to the cruelty of Punjab rulers, punish the guilty and to fight for human rights, uplift and strengthen the poor, the low and slave like people who could not even imagine freedom.
During 1709-1710, Sikh army under leadership of Banda Singh Bahadar captured all the major cities of Punjab. The Sikh army captured city of Sirhind and killed the Governor of Sirhind, Wazir Khan who was responsible for the martyrdom of the two youngest sons of Guru Gobind Singh at Sirhind. Among other reforms, Banda Singh Bahadar is known to have abolished the Zamindari system and gave the farmers proprietorship of their own land.
In March 1715, Banda Singh Bahadar was in the village of Gurdas Nangal, Gurdaspur, Punjab, when the army under the rule of Samad Khan, the Mughal king of Delhi laid siege to the Sikh forces. The Sikhs fought and defended the small fort for eight months. On December 7, 1715 Banda Singh Bahadar along with starving Sikh soldiers was captured.
The Banda Singh Bahadar was put in an iron cage and the captured Sikhs were chained. To terrorize the population and create immense fear, Mughals lead a procession towards Delhi with 780 Sikh prisoners, 2,000 Sikh heads hung on spears, and 700 cartloads of heads of slaughtered Sikhs. After 3 months of confinement, on June 9th, 1716, Banda Singh was martyred.
