In 2006, Matthew Jehn started BEAT The TEST® in order to provide quality AP review courses available on Long Island. Since that time, BEAT The TEST® has helped hundreds of Long Island students succeed on a variety of AP exams through a three-tiered approach to beating the AP.

The primary focus of the one day (9 a.m.- 4 p.m.) intensive review session is comprehensive curriculum review whereby essential concepts are explained through specific detail. Next, students are provided with subject-specific test-taking strategies to earn them extra points. Finally, stu-dents are provided with a framework to subsequently continue studying on their own. BEAT The TEST® offers a 100 percent money-back guarantee to those not completely satisfied

In order to continually maintain the highest standards, each BEAT The TEST instructor has been meticulously selected based on their experience, proven results, and intimate knowledge

of the AP exam. Additionally, all of the AP instructors are required to attend AP seminars held by the College Board. Thus, each instructor has intimate knowledge of the AP curriculum, exam format, and overall exam expectations.

Each AP prep course costs $249 and is held at Nassau Community College in building G. Sign up online at www.beatthetest.net. For questions, call 516-724-1059. Seating is limited. The schedule is as follows:

Th e Buckley Country Day School robotics team, nicknamed the “Buckley Bots,” won top honors recently in the Project Research category at its fi rst interscholastic competition, organized by FIRST LEGO League and hosting some 85 schools.

Th e Buckley robotics club was instituted this school year for stu-dents in grades four through eight who are interested in engineering, programming, and researching.

During robotics meetings, students use LEGO® building blocks to create robots that are capable of performing certain tasks. Th en the robots are programmed by students using laptops and special software to accomplish those tasks,

determined by FIRST® LEGO® League. Th ey also assign a theme for each year; this year’s is “Senior Solutions.” Th is means that at the competition, students have to display how their robots complete tasks related to senior citizens, as well as present a research project about them. Th e project demon-strates what innovative solutions can be created by students in order to help senior citizens be more engaged, independent, and connected.
