CAMILLUS AREA WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS TOWN OF CAMILLUSOCWA – Central New York’s Water Authority – has continued with its investment in the infrastructure in the Camillus area. The new storage tank on Skyview Terrace has been completed replacing the two old steel storage tanks at the same location. We also completed replacement of old unlined cast iron watermains, several older hydrants, and installed new valves on the water-mains to provide better isolation when we have to make other repairs. We continued to operate as much as normal as could be as we managed through the Covid-19 pandemic issues. The pandemic did cause a delay in some of our major projects includ-ing the replacement of the large water reservoirs at our facility on Hinsdale Road. Originally slated for 2020 construction we intend to construct two new water tanks at that facility in 2021 and into 2022. The tanks will replace the older two water storage reservoirs on the same site. The two new tanks along with new pipes and control facilities at the site will improve the water sys-tem reliability for not only the Camillus area but a large portion of our service area in the western and central areas of the County. We are also continuing with our meter changeout program, so if you receive a notice, please contact us to schedule an appoint-ment. It usually takes less than 30 minutes to replace the meter and our employees are following safe practices to keep everyone safe and healthy.

During this time of uncertainty, Onondaga County’s Depart-ment of Water Environment Protection (WEP) continues to stand ready to provide essential and critical sewer service to the 21 mu-nicipalities within the County’s Consolidated Sanitary District.    In response to ongoing developments relating to the (COVID-19) pandemic, WEP has enacted interim protocols to keep our staff and the public safe and ensure uninterrupted wastewater services to the more than 140,000 customers in the CSD.  The information below explains how we have adapted the way we do business during this time.  1. Plumbing ControlPlumbing control provides a critical public health service for Onon-daga County residents. Its goal is to see that plumbing installations conform to local laws and public health standards to promote the safety and public health of county residents.  Plumbing Control will continue to provide these services; however, they will be provided electronically until further notice. No public access will be allowed into the Plumbing Control Offices.  All application materials and in-spection information shall be submitted electronically to the Plumb-ing Control Supervisor, Dennis Miesner ([email protected]).   Guidance on electronic process can be found here.In the event of an Emergency, you can reach Dennis Miesner at 315-640-2005 Additional information about plumbing control is available here: http://ongov.net/wep/plumbing-control.html 2.  Sewer Service CallsWEP responds to more than 4,000 trouble calls and service requests from homeowners and businesses that are having trouble with their sewers every year. If you’re having a sewer issue, please Call (315) 435-3157 – the number is answered 24 hours a day.

In order to mitigate potential exposure to our employees and customers, the Department of Water Environment Protection (WEP) will be elimi-nating face to face contact when performing sewer lateral service calls. Until further notice, we ask that you do not go out to speak with the field staff while they are working at your location. WEP staff will contact you by phone or by written notification of the resolution of the service lateral issue you experienced.  We appreciate your cooperation and support of our efforts at social distancing!

Municipal Dog ControlDog Control Officer: Melissa Mariano

[email protected] | (315) 488-1234DOG CONTROL OFFICE:The Dog Control Office enforces dog-related ordinances within the Towns of Camillus and Van Buren; including impounding stray dogs and investigating and following up on ordinance complaints against dog owners. The Dog Control Officer may contact dog owners by mail, by phone, in person, and in some cases will issue citations to appear in Town Court.

DOG LICENSING:Required by New York State and Town law, all dogs over four months of age must be licensed and those licenses must be renewed annually. To obtain a license, proof of a current rabies vaccination and proof of spay/neuter if it has been done must be supplied to the Town Clerk’s office. In Camillus the fees are $7 for spayed/neutered dogs and $14 for ones that are not. The license tag is required to be attached to the dog’s collar. Individual Municipality dog licensing fees vary; for dog owners living outside of Camillus please check with your Town Clerk’s office for your town’s dog license fee.

**I would like to take this opportunity to ask dog owners to be mind-ful when walking your dogs. Be sure to keep your dog from wan-dering onto private property unless the owner of that property has invited you to do so. Refrain from allowing your dog to urinate on mailboxes, flowers or shrubs as it can be damaging. Also, if your dog needs to defecate please be prepared with a bag to pick the waste up and take it with you for proper disposal. Thank you! Reminder: At our two dog friendly Parks, Camillus Park and the Erie Canal Trail Park, dogs must be leashed at all times and their feces

must be picked up and disposed of properly by the person walking that dog. This is the law and insures safety for you and your dog and also allows others to enjoy these parks without stepping in feces and without the fear of a loose dog approaching them or worse.

Dog Control ordinances are outlined in Chapter 54 of the Town code which you can find on the Town website: www.townofcamillus.com

MISSING OR FOUND DOG:If your dog is missing or you have found a dog, contact the Dog Control Officer immediately to report it. You should also alert sur-rounding towns and local shelters; here are some contact numbers:

Email: [email protected] Website: www.ifccny.org PH: 315 474-8855Families are not only visiting pantries to meet temporary acute food needs, instead for the majority of people seeking food assistance,

pantries are now a part of households’ long-term strategies to supplement monthly shortfalls in food. (www.feedingamerica.org)

Here at IFC we are grateful for the generosity from those who have supported our efforts to improve the quality of life for those who rely on our services. With your help, we provide the support to make sure that

NO ONE GOES HUNGRY! The food that we provide to the pantries helps to keep their shelves stocked. The referrals we make each day helps those who must navi-gate through the layers of assistance needed to get through their daily struggles. If you are in need please call us at 315 474-8855. We can

offer practical support to the people who are in need of food and direct you to a food pantry that can serve you.You can also donate on our website…www.Ifccny.org

Imagine what our real neighborhoods would be like if each of us offered... just one kind word to another person.
