The joys and the hopes, the

griefs and the anxieties of the

men of this age, especiallythose who are poor or in any

    way afflicted, these are the

joys and hopes, the griefs and

    anxieties of the followers of

    Christ. Indeed, nothing

    genuinely human fails to raise

    an echo in their hearts.

    (GS, 1).

St. Camillus has received from God the

through professing the evangelical vows of

    poverty, chastity, obedience and etiam

pestis incesserit(to be always present) or

now understood as ALWAYS EVEN INDANGER TO OUR OWN LIFE.

    PROPHETIC VOCATION

The consecrated person is tasked to nurture,

nourish and evoke a consciousness and perception

alternative to the consciousness and perception of

the dominant culture around us. He is called tooffer an alternative, and sometimes this alternative

goes against the status quo, which might not be

acceptable. Thus, this conviction must be reflected

in the dialectical prophetic pathway of the

Camillians, i.e., commitment to the Word

    (preaching) and commitment to charity

    (witnessing) (CD 2007, n. 5).

    PREFERENTIAL LOVE FOR THE POORSICK

the more we are exposed to the

sufferings of the poor, the deeper

and more lasting does ourcompassion become. Just like St.

    Camillus, he always believed that

    the poorsick are sacraments for

    us.

is not a social ideology with a religious

mask rather it is a commitment in

which one assumes voluntarily andlovingly the condition of the needy of

this world in order to bear witness to

the evil which it represents and tospiritual liberty *+ after Christs

    example (cf. Medellin 1968, 14)

Pref Love Poorsick: As a SPIRITUALITY

a life lived with full conviction of the

divine Providence as the sole refuge

of all our strength. Simplicity of life, deep faith and unfeigned love for all,

especially the poor and the outcast

are luminous signs of the gospel inaction(EA 34)

    SOLIDARITY

    firm and persevering

    determination to commit

oneself to the common good;that is to say to the good of all

and of each individual, becausewe are really responsible for all

    (SRS 38)

  • 8/4/2019 Camillian Task Force

    15/24

Solidarity is actualized in a form of

commitment, which is an exercise of social

responsibility, by an individual or the

    community of persons. This commitment

emanates from the intrinsic social nature of

the human persons, the equality of all in

dignity and rights and the common path ofindividuals and peoples towards an ever

    more committed unity(CSDC 192)
