We pick up by the flag poll. Please do not park in the bus loading area. In the event of a significant weather event, the district will communicate with families using phone numbers and emails that are updated in ParentVue. Pay attention to our local news stations as well. Lastly, I will leave you with a celebration. In the 2018-2019 school year, Camelot achieved higher than schools with similar demographics in both ELA and math. A grade is the ultimate form of feedback to a student and it must be accurate. As a result, Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) is working diligently to ensure every scholar’s grade is accurate.

We have important information to share with you about the new principles of grading and report cards, and enhanced communication to ensure greater transparency and partnership with families. We also would like you to attend one of the forums to provide valuable feedback.

Three reminders from Ms. Beck:

1. The Camelot Honor Choir will be performing as a part of Multicultural Night on January 23

rd! Please come and celebrate music and diversity at Camelot.

2. The Winter Sing-A-Long Assembly will be on December 20th from 12:50 to 1:30.

Families are welcome to come and sing winter songs with the Camelot scholars!

3. The Jester Show is an annual event at Camelot and gives scholars a chance to show their talents. If your scholar likes to sing, play an instrument, dance, tell jokes, do magic tricks, or has other talents, they can sign up to try out for the Jester Show. Sign ups will be available after winter break for auditions on January 21

st and 22

nd after school. A lot of scholars try out and not everyone will make it,

so please encourage your scholars to begin practicing now. There will be two performances: February 6

th will be the evening performance beginning at 6:30

p.m. and Friday, February 7th there will be a performance at 1:30 p.m. This is

such an exciting event and everyone that is interested is encouraged to try out!

We are excited to kick off the fourth year scholars can enter to win the

chance to learn to play chess with Superintendent Dr. Tammy Campbell and

receive a chessboard! Research shows chess can enhance one's ability to

think critically and problem solve.

Fill out the form found in the school main office and turn it into the office

manager by the 15th of each month. You can also submit the form

electronically on the district website here:

Dr. Campbell will randomly draw scholar names and contact the winners. All

scholars have the opportunity to enter. Limit one entry per scholar per month.

Highly Capable Program Referral Window

Calling all scholars!

The FWPS Highly Capable program provides services to scholars who are

designated as highly capable learners, typically in math and/or English Language

Arts (ELA).

If a scholar is designated as a highly capable learner, they will receive

specialized instruction and support to meet their needs.

FWPS staff, families, community members and scholars may refer a K-11

scholar for consideration during Dec. 2, 2019-Jan. 10, 2020 for the 2020–21

school year.
