Every two years or so,we travel back to the
ates or home assignment. We are excited to announce that
ur amily will be on assignment in the U.S. rom October 8 th-
nuary 21st
o this year.We will be posting a more detailed schedule online on our
cebook group, and through email as the time gets closer.
urrently, our plan is to be in the Bay Area or most o the trip
nd be in the LA area rom November 3rd-12th. We would love
o meet and share about Cambodia with your Bible study or
hurch. I you or your church are interested, please contact us
Sometimes people wonder why mis-ionaries go on home assignment. Home-
ssignment (traditionally called “urlough”) has a multiaceted
urpose or us:1. Rest and Renewal – Living in a oreign culture is usu-
ly accompanied by certain stresses that never ully go away.
eturning to one’s home culture can be a helpul break or mis-
onaries, bringing needed renewal and perspective, enabling
s to be rereshed, and ready to serve again.
2. Reconnecting with Family and Friends – Probably t
hardest aspect o being on the mission feld is being away
rom amily and riends. Home assignment is a wonderul
to make memories with loved ones, to treasure when mile
separate us.
3. Reporting to Churches and Supporters – While writ
newsletters and emails is a great way to communicate, me
ing ace-to-ace is an essential part o sharing in the minis
together, or mutual encouragement and joy.
4. Raising Awareness and Support – We are passionat
about many projects and ministries in Cambodia, and we
to spread that passion, seeking to partner together in brin
the Gospel to Cambodia and beyond! Raising fnances is a
a necessary part o our ministry—or various projects as w
as personal support or our amily. While on home-assignwe seek to widen our support base to urther the ministry
we have in Cambodia.
5. Recruitment – We want to see more people raised u
serve the Lord in overseas missions, and specifcally in Cam
dia. So, part o our goal on home-assignment is to meet w
possible recruits, to encourage them in their passion or m
sions, and to be used as a catalyst to bring more workers i
the vast harvest.
We are excited to see many of you ding this upcoming home assignment, catch up, and to rejoice in what the Lord is doing in all o olives.
