Mission Event, Saturday May 13 Join in Helping to Make a Difference Call for Donations! This Mother's Day weekend, Calvary will be assembling care bags and crafts for women and mothers who were victims of homelessness or domestic abuse, so we need your donations! They have requested the following items for the 25 women currently in the shelter's care: umbrellas, planners, face wipes, pens, shampoo (Full size), conditioner (Full size), lotion (Full size), gift cards - Target/Amazon/Old Navy. There is a donation box in the Prayer Chapel by the Narthex outside the sanctuary.

Opportunity to Serve! On Saturday, May 13 at 9am There will be two parallel service events serving women’s shelters for victims of domestic abuse. Activity one will be led by Marcia Grenell and will take

place in Calvary’s Fellowship Hall. This will involve assembling care bags and crafts for women at the shelter. This activity is open to all ages and activity levels (including children!). It will take ~1 hour. Sign-up on the sheet above the donation box in the Narthex or email [email protected].

The second activity will be led by Chris Haley and will take place at Bethany House in Alexandria. We will be removing an old wooden fence and laying mulch down in a flower bed. This activity may require moderate labor and would not be suitable for young children. We will need shovels, one or more sledgehammers in case the fence is anchored in concrete, hammers, saws, and a pick-up truck to bring the mulch and remove the fence, so please email Chris if you have these things. Confidentiality waivers must be signed in advance of the event. Sign-up on the sheet above the donation box in the Narthex or email [email protected].

Calvary Meal Packaging Event Calvary has partnered with Outreach, Inc. to pack 13,000 meals in Harris Hall on Saturday, June 24, 2017. These meals will be sent to Haiti. We need at least 60 volunteers to pack the meals. Teams of 8 – 10 people form assembly lines to fill the bags with ingredients; then weigh, seal, and pack them in shipping boxes. Families are invited to participate with parents supervising their children. A video of an Outreach event can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GNU-WT7-VI. Volunteers who can help unload and move bags of ingredients into Harris Hall are needed at 8:30am. The event will be held 9am–12pm. Please plan to arrive at 8:45am. Late arrivals can also participate. Please notify Max Westmoreland at [email protected] or telephone 703 819-6949 by June 17, 2017 that you will join us at the event.

Communion Servers Participate in Worship in a Very Meaningful Way There is a need for volunteers to serve as communion servers about once-a-month during worship. We need at least two for the 8:30am service. The 11am service is scheduled online and will be explained to any volunteers. If you feel called to assist please contact Charlie or Bonnie Crouch, 508-341-7893. There will be a meeting with all communion Volunteers on Sunday, April 23 at 12:15pm to meet everyone and go over the schedule and answer any questions you may have.
